16th State of the Barrio Address: World Pissed

20 March 2010 44 Comments

Ladies, gentlemen and in-betweens, have a sit, because this will be the longest State of the Barrio Address in our Barangay Hall.

I will address, respond, rebut and hopefully bring world peace to this nasty blogwar between the DV Group and B7, specifically, Reyna Elena and the founder of Dona Victorina.

Let me start with the easy ones:

  1. Delfin Montano – Reyna Elena has no relationship whatsoever with DM and no matter how hard the founder of Dona Victorina tries to connect DM with RE, it won’t work.

  2. Rain Barnido – Do I have anything bad to say about this guy? No! Do I have anything good to say as well? No! Por dios por santu, not a single clue who this guy is and by golly, no offense to Barnido, but I am a lot cuter! Charing! Haha! So, Paul Farol, stop sending me Barnido articles because I am not interested to read.

  3. Eric Bordeos – I have no clue on how to handle the “peace offering” by Eric. However, as requested, I will stop referring him with those “letters”. I will accept his “peace offering” at its face value. I hope him well.

  4. Brian Gorrell – He sent feelers through our common FB friend that I stop referring him also with those “letters”. His will be done, but, I expect that he will abide by the generally accepted blogging standards by putting a stop to humiliating innocent people and dragging their pictures front forward on his blog. Because I believe this is not reconciling with his advocacy work. I hope him well, too.

  5. Paul Farol– Since all these mess started with Paul, so shall he clean up the mess he created. For obvious reasons, his apologies are not acceptable. I will accept his apologies in due time, when I see it fit.

  6. On being friends with former DV Council members – Kung nabibighani sila to be friends with me, pwes maganda lang talaga ako. I have my own free will to decide with whom to be friend with and who to reject. If my FB friendship with one of them blossoms to a point na mag-ti-tirintas kami nang mga buhok namen, kiver na kayo dun. That decision should be left with me and me alone, unless you campaign for Noynoy Aquino, kwits tau.

  7. Belo – What in the world do I have to do with them?! Why should I call that clinic?! For what?! I am perfect! Can’t you people see?! No rebonding, no landscaping needed. I need every apparatus dangling in my body. Who cares if my faloppian tubes are hanging in my legs?!

  8. Money problems – I am not involve nor have any interest to join anyone of you in whatever money problems or any legal fight you all are involved in. Barrio Siete was the wrong forum for you to bring your case. Haka-haka lang yong mga narinig ninyong ipina-pabarangay sa Barrio Siete. Gets nyo? Nor do I have any connection with any swindling issues. I have my own money problems with my boylets. The more they swindle me, the more I know they love me. So, settle your issues with the real judge, in a real court, not with La Kapitana. Dios mio! Kaya next time, mamili kayo nang mga sino-social climb nyo ha?!

  9. On an unrelated happy matter – one of the names of an Anti-Pinoy member (BongV) was mentioned in the entry. He and I have already settled our issues, exchanged apologies and have now moved on with our blogging life. If we become buddy-buddies in the future, kiver na kau dun.

  10. Finally, to the founder of Dona Victorina , who I expect to reign over the hatred that pervades his blog and Utak Pugita sites, given that he is the leader of this collective blog, here is my response.

I will not refer to you as ex-journalist. I do not want to use the word “journalist”. I believe that this word is reserved to those professionals in the field who worked their way like hell, earn their respect in the field, given that they are expected to report in the most objective and unbiased way. They report uncompromised truth.

While I don’t know if I should frown all PR guys, my eyebrows are always raised when I meet them for they feed compromised truth, that is, money changes hands so their news could be published. So when a journalist moves to the PR fence, to me, that journalist have just defeated the pledge for uncompromised truth.

I make no apologies by saying that I don’t find any hint of close “journalistic” semblance with the pa-cute entry made by you, that starts with: “I find it awkward to address this topic on Victorina…

Here’s what you said:

I find it awkward to address this topic on Victorina as time and again I have been accused as being “this” and “that” – but if you click through the pages of this blog, it is quite apparent that we work very hard to keep the tenets of uncovering the truth, strengthening the community and motivating others through a compelling mix of informative and entertaining posts. It was my wish to see this blog inspire others and stir readers to think about poignant issues affecting our nation and enthuse them to stand up for positive change.

Well then, clean up your blog.

Let’s start with the obvious:

THIS IS FALSE: “Paul Farol was recently victimized by a blog, because of spine-chilling conspiracy theories and spurious assumptions made by certain bloggers regarding Paul’s political alliance and circle friends. Paul’s private photos of his wife and baby were uploaded to a blog.”

THE TRUTH IS: I WAS PAUL FAROL’S VICTIM

PROOF # 1 – This entry: It’s gettin’ nasty out in Pinoy election blogosphere, will give you the detail as to how Paul Farol started attacking Reyna Elena on the blogosphere. You will also find here Paul Farol’s emails to tell me about his wicked entries. This entry was the continuation of Paul Farol’s attack.

PROOF # 2 – B7 has a protocol excluding unrelated personalities on issues on the table. Hiding their faces is the generally acceptable form of ethical blogging. That’s one of our standards in blogging quite abhorringly missing from your Utak Pugita site who has made a listing of a lot of similar last names not related to Reyna Elena.

Let’s dissect the state of the blog of Dona Victorina:

1.) Utak Pugita was founded by the same founder of Dona Victorina for a so-called “new level of blogging”. It’s current entry of even listing names of people unrelated to Reyna Elena speaks clearly the negative intent of the blog. Inspire and stir readers to stand up for positive change?!

2.) The founder of Dona Victorina appeared to be promoting negativity over the blogsphere and trying to influence a radio station on this subject matter. Inspire and stir readers to stand up for positive change?!

3.) The top blogs and how they stack up to Barrio Siete.

Blog Alexa
The Chronicles of E no data
Manila Review 7,611,437
Pinoy Biz 1,702,254
Brian Gorrell 689,092
Dona Victorina 569,584
Barrio Siete 294,202

My bad. Indeed, they are the top bloggers. E Chronicles ranked broke the Alexa record, it could not even be recorded anymore. Oh, by the way – in Alexa, the lower the number, the cutest you are.

4.) The founder of Dona Victorina even proclaimed the Manila Review Blog of Paul Farol. The very blog who called that RE be reported as an illegal immigrant and deported. Keep the tenets of uncovering the truth? Motivating others to shame people?

6.) Dona Victorina site is determined to shame and ostracize people with its negativity that it harbors negative sites on it’s sidebars. If Utak Pugita is a political satire, as they have stated here: http://donavictorina.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-level-of-blogging.html then why is the blog butchering an individual who has no political role, an individual who just expressed his political candidate, even including names of individuals unrelated to the person being attacked by the founder of Dona Victorina? The founder of Dona Victorina is even trying very hard to connect us with the latest protect your child on the side bar.

7.) This sidebar news from the founder of Dona Victorina speaks for how twisted the mind of this blogger is. Is this seeking the truth?

THE TRUTH:

When you knowingly decide to humiliate a blogger on the blog, you do not request for an apology secretly. That’s dubious. It is more dubious to connive with other characters and continue the hate. What you need to do is to be at the forefront of the fight and stop the hatred and vilification. Denounce their actions and address each slanderous issues your posted on your blog. That’s showing sincerity, remorse and correct the mistakes that you have done.

And I did not accept Paul Farol’s apology for the obvious reasons that’s currently happening at Utak Pugita and Dona Victorina.

8.) The founder of Dona Victorina has just re-titled number 7, now directed at trying to gain hate sympathizers. Exactly how does this reconcile with the founder’s aspiration for positive change? Playing with child sympathy? This is on big time dysfunctionality and inconsistency with your tenets.

LESSONS LEARNED

What most readers probably do not know is that, we had intended to close Barrio Siete last December 2009. We announced this in our 15th State of the Barrio Address. What’s interesting is that, this latest online vilification campaign by the Dona Victorina Group has only strengthened our resolve to continue blogging even if most of our writers have gone back to school, having a baby, fell in love and started a career. This whole incident has given us an opportunity assess our existence on how to best address the seriousness of online vilification.

The perils of blogging is that, there are so many dark and anonymous characters online ready to exact damage on anyone who they don’t like for absolutely any reasons whatsoever. While there is joy in blogging, there is also hell when you meet wicked bloggers.

While there is freedom of expression, evil expressions of hate could be unrelenting. The blogging world is evolving and in this part of the world there are no cybercops to arrest the offenders and there are no instant protection to the victims.

With this recent nasty event, Barrio Siete will make a study and create an in-house project and/or a campaign on how to best address hate blogs and hate bloggers exacting tolls of harassment, cyberbullying, intimidation and online vilification campaign.

Our long-term goal is the hope and aspiration to influence a legislation to protect bloggers from cyberbullies and address online vilification of personalities in Philippine blogosphere. Should we be successful with our plans, we will announce it to the blogging public.

Let me end my SOBA by posing a challenge to the founder of Dona Victorina to stand up for what is good:

The way you conduct your personal life will always show in the way you conduct your blogging life, that’s your character. That character contributes a great deal in molding your credibility. No matter how much you hide your anonymity in blogging, your character and personality will always show in the manner at how you write. In the end, if you have acquired credibility in your life dealings, even if you reboot your personality, you will always have that credibility wherever you might be – online or offline.

If the founder of the collective blog of Dona Victorina is truly a role model and a leader, and is honest with his word “to keep the tenets of uncovering the truth, strengthening the community and motivating others through a compelling mix of informative and entertaining posts, inspire others and stir readers to think about poignant issues affecting our nation and enthuse them to stand up for positive change”, then what is keeping the founder of Dona Victorina to put a stop to the online vilification and hate campaign against Reyna Elena and Barrio Siete?

I challenge you to make good your word and stand up for positive change.

End the online vilification and hate campaign NOW.

Thank you all.

Barrio Siete will now return to its regular programming.

One great piece Reynz. This one sums it all. How evil these people can be in the name of money. Personally, i have no regret siding with you because of disappointment with their blogs (which i used to follow) when they started maligning & name calling you, even it resulted to bully gorel’s shaming me and my children in his blog, stealing my pics in FB and that of my children, captioned me as a sex worker. Their gang started it all. Whatever entries that came up here in B7 are just rebuttal to their evil entries. It is very well understood by a reader and blog follower like me. That’s why I stand by you and the whole B7.

    • Snow says:

Here is a very good definition of hate courtesy of blurtit.com:

Hate can be defined in terms of emotion. It is an emotion that is basically deep revulsion, distaste or enmity. It is mostly considered to be something that is opposite to love and friendship. It is also referred to as “to hate’, which is in terms of dislike. It is also used to depict approach of prejudice, bigotry or condemnation in opposition to a person, or even a group of certain people who could probably belong to a different cast, something like racism or even political. Hatred is also considered to be one of the biggest cause behind violence and war.

      • reynz says:

It’s also called internet or cyberbullying Snow. It’s a real threat to everyone in the blogosphere. If you think about it, eversince sa Reyna, an dami ko nang experiences of being bullied. Here’s what I found:

Internet bullying is a form of personal attack which employs threats, pressure and intimidation through the avenues of internet technology. The bullying may take place by the use of messaging sites, blogs, online forums, electronic mail and other means of cyber technology. When internet bullying takes place, its victims are harassed, intimidated and are left with damaged reputations.

Internet bullying is also sometimes called cyberbullying or digital bullying. This type of harassment has become prevalent together with the rise of cyber technology. People now live in a world without borders. Almost everyone is connected through the internet. Data and information travel at a fast rate. Internet bullying therefore takes the concept of bullying to a much higher level. A single person’s small act of maligning someone can reach hundreds of people in a split-second.

Kaya, let’s all talk about the advocacy I am suggesting OFFLINE or sa SIDEBAR or sa ating mga email meetings. It’s not required for everyone dahil advocacy involves real personal involvement.

But I am truly decided to focus some of my blogging efforts to do something about this internet menace. It’s real and it’s a grave threat.

        • Snow says:

I sgree cyberbullying must be taken seriously. Napakalaki ng blogosphere and sad to say – madaming ganitong klase ng kaso sa world wide web. :(

Wag kang trying hard Renz… Di mo ka-level founder of DV. Di ka niya papansinin!

    • reynz says:

You’re probably right Fritz. I’m not on your level err founder pala nang DV. We all have our own set of standards and a certain level of ethics that we follow, more so if you abide by some rules by your profession. Sometimes, those rules water down to your blogging manners. So let me say this to you again just in case you missed it:

The way you conduct your personal life will always show in the way you conduct your blogging life, that’s your character. That character contributes a great deal in molding your credibility. No matter how much you hide your anonymity in blogging, your character and personality will always show in the manner at how you write. It is my considered view that Barrio Siete/Reynz finally put a stop to this unhealthy blog war. As the aggrieved party, Barrio Siete/Reyna Elena has consistently tried to protect its honor and behaved accordingly in reacting to the acussations and lies thrown its way. But such negative postings from DV/Pugita will never end if given due course by responding to every diatribe concocted. It is enough that B7 has gained more confidence in the blogging world while the other side has spiraled down to an insignificant/nuisance state (I was there to witness the glory days of DV when every posting would generate an average of 50 feedbacks). Let robust and challenging topics have their sway again! Let the good times roll, La Kapitana!
