1st Remittance Report: Project Bayanihan Fund Drive for Ondoy Victims
I apologize for my rant. It’s sad but… the evils of corruption is taking its toll on some of my fellow Filipinos and friends who do not buy the idea of giving because it will just end up to nothing. I do not blame them but I don’t buy it. For how could one be insensitive when you have this…
And this?
Or this?
Barrio Siete Dot Com prefers to take the high road. As La Kapitana and together with Barrio Siete Writers and supporters, we will not lose hope. We will not be discouraged.
Project Bayanihan Fund Drive for Ondoy Victims continues! Let’s continue on and not be discouraged. We have done such a great job on this one. We started this yesterday and made our 1st remittance the next day.
And so, Ladies and gentlemen, citizens of the world, Filipinos and foreigners, Barrio Siete dot com supporters, readers and lurkers, this is La Kapitana making my 1st Remittance Report: Project Bayanihan Fund Drive for Ondoy Victims to all of you.
Here were my activities today:
1.) I wire transferred $1,000 (one-thousand US dollars) from my local bank account to the PNB Remittance Center in Los Angeles. All transfer charges will be shouldered by La Kapitana. Here is the wire transfer report.
2.) PNB Remittance Center in Los Angeles sent me this email that once the funds clears from my local bank to their bank that they will send a confirmation to me – which I can send to the Philippine National Red Cross such that PNRC Manila can acknowledge receipt of the funds. That acknowledgement when received will be posted in Barrio Siete. Here is that email. (Please click to enlarge.)
3.) Here is the report of the Bayanihan Fund Drive:

[...] (Yahoo Currency Converter) UPDATES: 1st Remittance Report = $1,000 [...]
I was glued to the internet today and it is so sad to see what is happening in our homeland. I wanted to wait for a better exchange rate which will be better tomorrow since the CDN dollar appreciated vis a vis the US$. Please count me in for a thousand US which I will be sending tomorrow. I pray that the people who are suffering find the strength to carry. God Bless.
many thanks for the support Rosa!
TEKA LANG! (bumalik ako! hahha!)
Did you say ONE THOUSAND US DOLLARS?! ($1,000)???
~kablag~
(hinimatay)
hip hip Horray! for maam Rosa!
To whom much is given much is required. It is biblical.
challenge sa lahat ng tga barrio and to the Philippine netizens.
It is so heart warming to see how our culture can be so gooooood!!!!
sana parating ganito…
~~paypayan ang reyna~~~
hahaha! yeah monique! i am excited sa $1k ni papadal ni rosa!
Hurray for everyone helping to lift our brothers and sisters in the Philppines. I am teary-eyed while I am typing this after reading Mahalia’s poem with the theme of survival. Anyway, nagfundraising ang marami dito sa Calgary so everyone is sending their contributions to different charity orgs in Phil. Hopefully, I can start one here in the office. Even a small amount helps. Salamat Reynz for starting this fundraising and all your fellow bloggers for spreading the message.
I heard the same from my home state. Kala ko pa naman balwarte ko eh marami ako ma invite.
“Asus sa gobyerno lang mapupunta yan tapos ibubulsa..”
“Tuwing may kailangan lang Pians dun lang naaalala mga nasa abroad..”
“Baket? Tutulong ba sila pag tayo naman nangailangan?”
Bullshit! Pinoy ka ba tol? Or nakalimutan mo na? Times like this, we need to show how human we are. That we are Pinoys! Whatever other people say, I want to give my share in helping those who are in need.
I was in Twitter from Saturday 7PM-Sunday 8AM CST, ang nakakagigil na makita na ang daming nangangailangan ng tulong. Yes, probably wala akong magagawa kahit nasa Pinas ako kaya I was 100% in supporting the drive.
Rob,
it’s MAN IN THE MIRROR.
i feel their frustration about corruption, about the insensitivity of some officials, about the ridiculous thieveries but by being insensitive to the plight of fellow pinoys, that’s like punishing them more for the ineptness of these corrupt people.
we all want change, therefore it has to start from all of us. that’s what frustrate me. it’s a hard sell – but matigas ang ulo ko you know! i’ll still push and hope to get more donations!
many thanks for all the initiative and the hard work!
well said. nagtayo ang mga balahibo ko sa speech na ‘to. Kung di tayo, sino? Kung di ngayon, kailan?
Agree!Matulog muna ako wahehehehe bukas paspas ulit after office
The stories of tragedies continue and so are the stories of compassion and solidarity on a global scale…Be a part of creating those stories of compassion…
dFish,
us here, outside of the Philippines, we’ll surely do our best. thanks to you all for the support! i know this will go a long way!
Yes Reynz – compassion often crosses boundaries and human expectations…
Tranparency at its best. Hehehe. Will copy this link.
thanks ely! spread the word! thank you for your support!
This is how a report should be. Congrats for leading the fund drive Reynz.
As for us here in the Philippines, we’re trying to spread our resources as much as we can. The extent of the storm damage has affected many persons I know, more than I have imagined. Officemates and close personal friends. I just talked to one of my best friends now who lost everything na ipinundar nya coz she lives in Pasig. Nakakalungkot talaga. Sometimes I ask myself who to reach out first … the greater majority, or the people I really know? kelangan ko pa rin ipaayos ang aking kotse.
But we will rise from all this. God bless the Philippines!
that’s truly sad Annalyn.
my sis lives in Life Homes plus nephews and nieces and we have not had any contact with them. hanggang ngayon. that place was inundated dahil tabi nang manggahan floodway na umapaw
Really beyond words and human emotions can contain the extent of devastation and sense of loss. A single tear is almost not enough a symbol of pain and the horror of losing loved ones and properties.

Great job, Reynz! I’m sending my donations through the Filipino Photographers Org here in which my hubby is an Officer. I also took the initiative to raise funds by selling cookies and I’m donating the entire sales (everythin…not just the profit) to the flood victims.

Hello,
I’m from Houston, Tx and I’m trying to find if there are any drop off points that I can donate clothing, shoes etc. I found Hsummit on the website and it says it’s sponsoring the drop point. I called the stores listed and the employees and manager I spoke with has no idea what I’m talking about. I work for a big organizationa and my co-workers are willing to donate items. I was hoping you might have information on how to help here in Houston.
Thank you and god Bless!
