In an article from GMAnews.tv which I read a couple of minutes ago:

A House panel on Tuesday approved a P2.084-billion budget for a constitutional convention that will amend the 1987 Constitution.

Voting 5-2, the committee on constitutional amendments approved the budget allocation proposed by Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr., the vice chairman of the committee who led the technical working group on con-con proposals.

The proposed budget allocation covers one year within which the con-con should finish amending the Charter.

According to the committee’s proposal, there will be 219 delegates representing the existing congressional districts. Each delegate will receive a per diem of P2,000 for every day of actual attendance in the convention or any of its committees, with 20 working days a month.

The con-con delegates will be elected in October 2010.

Callous.

Insensitive.

Cold-hearted.

These are the sentiments that  I recently viewed from social networking sites, discussing on this matter. Well, if you will be asking me what will be my words for this news?

MORONIC.

APATHETIC.

WORSE THAN THE LOOTERS WHO RAIDED HOUSES OF THE ONDOY VICTIMS.

I cant stand this news because while most of our countrymen are going desperate in search of food, water and even clothes to keep them warm, these solons did have the nerve to pass a 2-billion peso budget for Constitutional Change. They have the nerve to do this while most of our countrymen are trying to pick up themselves from the devastation caused by Ondoy’s wrath.

While us, the Barrio Siete people are trying our hardest to give at least a freaking dollar from our pockets and convincing other people to donate in our Bayanihan fund drive, these solons did have the nerve to pass a 2-billion budget instead of focusing first on the tragedy that struck our country or perhaps, try to approve a budget that will reinforce the relief operations for our countrymen.

Seriously, what can 2 billion pesos can do to our present “Ondoy” predicament?

  • It may help rebuild homes.
  • It may help provide more food for the hungry victims – both in the evacuation centers and those who are still stranded in their rooftops.
  • It may help in re-establishing some of the damaged parts of the capitol, perhaps, aiding in proper urban management this time.
  • It may help in reinforcing our pathetic rescue forces here in the Philippines. Saan ka ba nakakita nang rescue resources na 13 rubber boats and 3 amphibious vehicles lang for the whole Metro Manila?! Haller?! Metro Manila is so huge and it so happens that many are calling for help and rescue. Makakarespond ba ng maayos ang mga rescuers natin kung ganito lang ang resources nila?!
  • It may help in making a precise DISASTER MANAGEMENT / RESPONSE PROGRAM para naman next time, we will not be caught unaware and unprepared for this kind of  natural calamities.

Nakakasakit sa dibdib ang balitang ito. Nakukuha pa nilang ipasa ang mga ganitong legislation for their own twisted agendas while the rest of our countrymen are stampeding na para lang makakuha ng konting relief goods. Ang nakakapagtaka pa, our government is ASKING FOR AID FROM OTHER COUNTRIES WHILE A HOUSE PANEL CAN APPROVE 2 FREAKING BILLION PESOS FOR CHARTER CHANGE??!!

~tinapon ang kawa~

Ano nga ba ang magagawa ng Charter Change sa bayan natin? Ang dami na ngang problema ng bayan, inuuna pa nila ang mga ganitong bagay.

Whoa. Thick face talaga. Grrrr…
