2009 Influential Blog Awards, Cooking with Janet?!

10 August 2009 293 Comments

top-10-emerging-influential-blogs-badge-2009-square

Janette Toral chatted with me sometime this year. She asked for my support for her Influential Blog Awards. Given that up to this point, I am still hyper-critical of that other market-their-business-best friends/volunteers/kiss-ur-ass-and-will-continue-to-watch-them-2009-awards, I decided to support her. Why? I liked the idea of making known the small and upcoming talented bloggers. That’s the least that we can do with all these meaningless blog awards. In fact, she even told me na pag-uwi ko raw, just let her know and she will let me speak in one of her seminars. Ok… However, I made known to Janet that I disagree with the connotation “Influential Blog Awards”. They’re not influential. They’re popularity. Even the 2009 winners, sorry sa lapad nang tenga ko, no offense intended, but none of these blogs can match Barrio Siete’s Performance in 3 months time. Fire your violent reactions, but for me, this is beside the point, I supported some of this years current winners “KUNO”, following B7’s (Barrio Siete) mission and vision.

To prove my point about why they’re not influential, I looked back at IBA’s (Influential Blogger Awards) history. Starting with the 2007, here are the winners with their Alexa rankings.

  • Jakethemiserable.com – 26,135,484
  • paolomendoza.com – 3,100,710
  • ASTEEG.NET – 3,081,693
  • gibbscadiz.blogspot.com – 2,276,553
  • thisiscoy.net – 1,536,273
  • cokskiblue.com – no data
  • aileenapolo.blogspot.com – 1,076,577
  • pinoyblogero.com – 1,044,634
  • Cultureshiok.com – 857,655
  • anitokid.blogspot.com – 647,007
  • racoma.com.ph – 423,373
  • fruityoaty.com – 411,827
  • carlocab.com – 38,038

Obviously, you only have carlocab.com as the truly Influential Blogger from this group. Which means, if he talks about making money online, people listen. Will these bloggers in 400k range have influence? I don’t know what influence they weild. That’s questionable to me. Not even the 600k. But once your Alexa ranking eh umaabot nang milyon, ang ibig sabihin nyan, wala kang impluwensyang humugot nang mag-babasa nang entries mo other than you. Getz?! So, let’s look at 2008 winners.

  • Music Picks – no data
  • Bloggers Da Who – no data
  • You Got Tech – 5,952,906
  • Missing Carlo – 5,269,968
  • Manila Foodistas- 3,244,728
  • Visit Sagada – 2,564,557
  • Davao Delicious – 2,272,000
  • Mar Roxas for President in 2010 blog – 1,351,454
  • Fritzified = 1,324,795
  • Bariles Republic 400,330
  • The Not so Talented DJ Montano – 314,099
  • Filipino Voices 240,649

This 2008 is even worse! There were only 3 in the 6 figure range! The rest?! I guess, they could just shut down their blogs. And so we come to this years winners DAW. This time, we looked at the number of minutes a reader spends in the blog. Let’s take a look at them!

  • Lakwatsero – 1,998,665 (2.7 mins per day)
  • Tales from mom’s side – 1,364,445 (2.3 mins per day)
  • Father blogger – 906,539 (2.4 mins per day)
  • Let’s go sago – 620,111 (2 mins per day)
  • Patay gutom – 709,102 (2.7 mins per day)
  • Adaphobic – 565,690 (2.9 mins per day)
  • Kelvinonian – 512,609 (1.5 min per day)
  • Zorlone – 366,431 (1.3 mins per day)
  • Struggling Blogger – 304,688 (1.8 mins per day)
  • Writing to Exhale – 290,805 (14.3 mins per day)

Obviously, these blogs are faring much better dun sa 2007 and 2008. As I have said, this is a popularity award, just like what we probinsyanos are very familiar with… a beauty contest based not on beauty but based on tickets sold… a.k.a. popularity voting contest. The only twist here is that, in my opinion, the organizer of this award, is only interested in links, yes – this is link farming.

Reyna Elena Dot Com’s vote not counted

I was not happy when Janet emailed me and sort of pressured me to re-post my votes “somewhere” eh kasi nga down ang reyna elena dot com. Who hacked my site anyway?! Alam naman ni Bathala that I have already voted. How come my votes were now being disqualified?! Was it because my site was hacked again?! O baka manalo ang mga ka-barrio ko?! I told Janet, no I cannot pressure my webmaster to working overtime to make Reyna Elena Dot Com live just for this award. But even Agnes and Mel’s votes were not counted either! Kaya nag-taka tuloy ako if something was going on.

Jan Geronimo’s Friends

So when Jan Geronimo fired this comment dun sa site ni Janet, tumaas ang kilay ko, kinati ang kamay kong mag-imbistiga. If you guys have any clue on what I do professionally, wag na kayong magtanong. Baka madismaya kayo. Pokpok ako. O kaya, hulaan nyo na lang. Here was the comment that ignited my aha-aha! i like it!

“Some of my friends told me they joined your writing project. They left comments on the writing project post, but they’re a bit puzzled their comments with the URL to their posts are not appearing in the comment section of your blog.

They are worried they might have participated for naught, Janette. Are your comments being held in moderation? That’s the only thing that occurs to me that might explain the non-appearance of their comments.

Are the comments being held in abeyance- to be released piece by piece – to generate suspense to this writing project?. Wouldn’t that – if this were so, but I hope this is not the case – going too far as far as generating interest or suspense for the outcome of this writing project?

The master list spreadsheet – held in abeyance. Fine, I understand the logic in that. But the comment section of your blog – shouldn’t comments be published as they come in?

Please, Janette.

Can you make a little announcement about this? They’re irked at me for asking their help to spread the good word about this project only to seem to have hit a wall with your comment section.

Thanks, Janette. Source

FURRR-REEENDDZZZ?! Who are “THEY”?

My investigation would lead me to this blog. They call themselves, the Jedi Bloggers. Interestingly, I have just offered to buy their domain! Litsi oo! But I was amused by the grouping and also curious why most of the winners were from this side of the world. Am I missing something?! Let me tell who they are. I even voted two (2) of these bloggers, Roy and Jan. I consider these Jedi bloggers my friends! Anong magagawa ko! Grrr!

  • Jan – Writing to Exhale
  • Roy – The Struggling Blogger
  • Zorlone
  • Father Blogger Dot Com
  • Kelvinonian
  • Tales from the Mom Side

At this point, another Barrio Siete Writer joined me in the research. We were looking for Jena Isle. Who is she? It would lead us to this blogger, which, if what she is claiming is true, then professor sya sa isang university, in Chemistry. So, this probably explains this list of Chem Bloggers that she follows.

WTF is going on?!

Seriously! Binabasa ba talaga nang mga estudyante ang mga blogs nang binoto nila or the teacher was reading their blogs?! Or better else, blogs ba ang mga to talaga? Some of the entries must have been lifted from the books because they were so scholarly written and I cannot imagine in my life that these kids could write those! Most of these blogs were created sometime in May and June 2009 and the last entries were only to vote in July 2009 for the Influential Blog. You don’t need a CPA, MBA, GAY to figure this out, do you?!

Me connection ba with these Chem bloggers with the 2009 Winners?

We found this blog entry. Bloggers Connection: Clin Chem Student Bloggers. And that’s where we found Jena Isle. Excited sya sa comments section thanking Roy.

I am presenting again my Bloggers Connection, and this time, instead of featuring just a single blogger, I am giving you a group of bloggers – the Clin Chem Student Bloggers, a group of students who created their blogs to support their studies on Clinical Chemistry.

With the blessing and guidance of their professor, these 29 students created their blogs:
1. To enhance the learning-teaching process through Web-Based Instructional Materials (WBIM).
2. To synchronize learning-teaching methods with relevant, available updates in technology.
3. To encourage students to utilize current technology in their learning process.
4. To adapt current and global online methods of learning.

Most of them, if not all of them, are first-time bloggers. And I believe that by presenting them here, you can help me in encouraging these students and formally welcoming them to the blogosphere.

Not only will their blogs help them in their studies, but other students can benefit a lot from their blogs too! For one, they will have an easier time researching on topics related to clinical chemistry with these 29 blogs that feature the different areas of the subject.

Indeed, they are worthy of our support, don’t you think?

So now, I give to you the Clin Chem Student Bloggers

Once again – The Clin Chem Student Bloggers.

To the Clin Chem Students Bloggers, this is The Struggling Blogger officially welcoming you to the blogosphere.

Number of questionable votes

While what I showed you were not the complete blogs, I decided to summarize what we have uncovered. THEY ALL VOTED THE SAME?! Ano to?! School project?! Eto lang ang vina-lidate ko no?! Understand, 29 sila!!! Had I known na pwede to, tinawagan ko sana kuya ko, vice rector sya sa isang university in Manila! Leche oo! Here they are:

how chem bloggers voted

What about those blogs na hindi pa namen nakikita? The question is, baket binilang to?! Halatang halata that these blogs sprouted just for the purpose of voting for the awards. Sinong inu-uto nang mga to?! This already happened at Reyna Elena. That blogger is still active and never apologized to me – kaya I know these tricks. I would like to know, kaya ang ginawa ko, nag-email ako ki Janet Toral.

Where can I find the list of who voted these winners? I have certain concerns. I cannot voice it out yet, but I would like to see the list given the transparency that you blogged about.
Thank you.

Her response?

Hi Reynz. As stated in the last paragraph of what you have quoted, what I have done so far is give site owners who request for copy of those who voted for their sites (like in your case where I’ve given you those who voted for Barrio Siete) for cross checking. Have concerns exposing the whole spreadsheet based on the feedback I got from others which I mentioned in the 2nd paragraph of what you have quoted. However, if you can advise me of your specific concern, I will find a way to address it as I have always tried whenever you raise one. Thank you as well and congratulations too as some of those you preferred got major spots in the overall results

I continued validating the blogs. I took another sample and checked them one by one. Check out what I discovered!

  1. Cynthia (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) all may, first entry glorious food! next entry? what she learned yesterday! final entry? – voted. taz naglaho.
  2. Beatriz (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) all may, first entry she’s a professional counselor, next entry what she learned yesterday. final entry – voted. wala na. Similar to 1.
  3. Mae Lin Jiwani (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) 8 entries, voted in May, last entry was in June. Wala na.
  4. Jennibeth (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) There were 6 entries, all in May. Pakatapos mag boto, di na nag-blag. Similar to 3.
  5. Mary Lou Mariano (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) There were also 3 entries. All in May. One kung sino sya. 2nd nasa meeting sya. 3rd voting IBA.
  6. Ardis Anna Gonzales (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) Has also 3 entries. The 1st was Welcome. The 2nd voting PG. The 3rd, lumipat na sa Amazon. Similar to 5.
  7. Jetro Galla Gawaen (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) There were only 3 entries, the 2nd entry was voting PG.
  8. Regnard (entry – complete) (sponsor complete – raffle inclusion) – only 5 blog entries, voted in May 2009 last entry was July and it’s not even a blog but a conference sked.

WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Tipong this was done by one person! What she learned yesterday?!
  • And what’s with the Chem Bloggers?! Do they qualify as blogs?! Started in May 2009, voted in July 2009 then done?
  • Who asked these students to join the Influential Bloggers by simply opening a blog, voting for Jedi Bloggers and say that it was for class? For real?!
  • Who were Jan Geronimo’s friends? The Chem Bloggers?
  • Why were those votes to Barrio Siete not counted?
  • Did Janet really excluded Snow’s entry? Dahil “writing project lang naman ito?”
  • Why can’t the tabulations for the winners be shown? Who voted for these winners?
  • How come most of these “blogs” just appeared out of nowhere in May? Voted, then disappeared? Job well done? And why were they counted and included?!
First, who they are; Second, what they did yesterday; Third, voted – then naglaho.
  • Why can’t the result be audited by a independent 3rd party?
  • and many, many more un-answered questions…

I joined, campaigned and supported this 2009 Influential Awards because I believed sa part na makikilala ang mga talentong mga baguhang bloggers but that this will be fair and free from any questionable judging, counting, inclusions and exclusions. Bwisit ako. I’m angry and I am terribly disappointed by the results and what I have discovered, considering that by far, this was the only blog awards that I have truly supported. I felt cheated! Considering that somebody is probably making money out of this! Leche!

But, make no mistake about this, I will never compromise my credibility and I will definitely distance myself from this awards, including the declared controversial winners and those who have made a mockery of this award, until these bloggers concerned (Jedi Winners included) could fully explain to me why these are not making sense at all. I choose not to ever social climb with these bloggers until I see it fit. Grrr!~!@#$%^&*(

    Hi Reynz!

First, I’d like to thank you for nominating me in this “writing project” and I sincerely wish that you’re not sorry for your nomination. Nobody can deny the fact that it’s your “annointment” that gave me the much needed acceleration by getting my blog noticed early in the race. Again, thank you Reynz.

I am really sorry that RE’s vote were not counted. Not just because I’m in your list, but because everybody knows your blog and the votes were already acknowledged by Janette then… a point which I also raised to her. I was also surprised that they were not counted.

Snow’s vote, I believe was counted (although I’m not sure now, because you said it wasn’t), I read the rules and there weren’t anything that she violated by submitting her vote “elsewhere” in Janette’s blog.

As for the Clin Chem Student Bloggers, yes they are legitimate blogs created to fulfill an academic requirement. I’ve featured them in my bloggers connection to help them get exposure in the blogosphere since I am one of those who was tasked to guide them in their blogging projects… which would explain why they voted for me. And yes Reynz, they were asked to read the blogs they voted on.

Of course, you just can’t take my word for it, and I won’t get in the way of your investigation. I trust your better judgement. I can see that they weren’t the only ones under question, they just stand out because, well, they’re too many.

I’m sure you know me, that’s why you nominated me… but the blogs you mentioned were totally “strangers” to you. And I’d like to thank you for bringing this out in the open… this would at least help clear up things, instead of them “just playing in everybody’s minds”

Again Reynz, thank you, and the rest of Barrio Siete writers for your support.

first time kong maging ‘first commenter’ dito sa Barrio Siete, sa ganito pang topic :(

      • Lalaine S. says:

I used to teach university students, too, and it never ever crossed my mind to require my students to blog, or post, or “publish” something which isn’t their own idea, more so copied from Wikipedia. It’s not the way to encourage original and critical thinking from students. They’ll be better off spending extra hours on a textbook rather than copy pasting articles on a blog. The big question is WHY? What are those blogs for really? If the teacher has any profound reasons in mind, we could use of a clarification.

P.S. Just sharing my thoughts on the issue, not to make “away”.

    • Mahalia says:

Oh so it was a school project to nominate for the top ten?!

    • reynz says:

I now question my support to you and Jan. I have a lot of question about you and Jan’s integrity and why you guys would accept the votes that you’ve received and would not even quetion it. They are not blogs Roy. They were created to vote for all of you Jedi Bloggers, I was no born yesterday to not understand it. The fact that Jan was very eager that those be counted is the more I question his integrity.

Am I sorry for the support I gave you and Jan? It looked like from the way you had explained yourself here, I am headed that way.

Would you answer the question as to who this Jena Isle and what’s the relationship she has with you and Zorlone?

    • BURAOT says:

hi Roy… as you are aware, i also voted for you and Jan on this issue.. as well as barrio siete and snow..

those chem bloggers might me legit and from students themselves. just kinda weird for them “voluntarily” go bloc-voting. of course it is not the main issue here. anybody can campaign for anybody.

      • Mahalia says:

Suma tutal: ISANG MALAKING KASINUNGALINGAN and pa-CONTEST na naganap!

Tanong: How Do the organisers define INFLUENTIAL? I hope they can give the “conceptual and operational” definition of this word. But I doubt for they were too busy “concocting” the result of the election…. DAGDAG-BAWAS? 2010 na?

        • Snow says:

Heto ang mga na-capture ko since I tallied my votes last July 31:

          http://dearbloggery.com/2009/07/31/a-big-thank-you-to-all-who-have-nominated-dear-bloggery/

Now ang tanong, maghahabol ba ako? A big NO. Bakit pa????

…3 days before the announcement I was diagnosed with heartburn at ngayon sumasama lang loob ko sa turn of events na ito. I guess I better take my ‘off’ muna sa blogging for awhile talaga kasi every single day ng blogging life ko dedicated akong magbloghop sa mga taong akala ko kaibigan ko…i rest my case…

          • reynz says:

If earthlinggorgeous is right, then ANTIMANO, there would only be 20 bloggers who voted for the winners dahil ang TRENTA were funky! WHICH MEANS, all these questionable winners WERE NOT EVEN IN THE RUNNING in the first place!

Okay, sige.

  • Dinah says:

Ha, bat may ganun?!? Basta ako, i voted for the blogs that I like and have influenced me.

  • Ely says:

    Walang sinabi si Tulfo!!! hehehe

  • bluepanjeet says:

(nagulat at napabuntong hininga at nanlaki ang mata) HUWATTTTTTTT?

    *Speechless…

  • Monique says:

Seriously, I would have to agree with what Reynz is telling us here. I was actually invited ng isang ka-barrio natin dito to vote nga for Barrio Siete as one of the Most Influential. For me, well, pwedeng pwede ko talagang iboto ang B7, but aside from the barrio sino pa kaya ang iboboto ko? haller?! i do not see myself influential at all. And some people here sa barrio, I see na pwede ding iboto kaya lang, di ko pa naman talaga sila kilala. Give me time for sure makikilala ko (at ng ibang readers) ang mga barrio-sietezens para pwede na bumoto.

  • Jun Omaga says:

What is the claim of janet Toral to credibility in her awards?

Btw Roy, sinong niloloko mo…blogs created to fulfill an academic requirement? What subject Roy? May Blogging 101 na ba ngayon sa medicine/chemistry course? Kahit Blogging 101, hindi papasa yang chemical student bloggers mo kasi once in a blue moon ang update. IN SHORT, they are SPAM BLOGS !!!!

    • Roy says:

wala akong niloloko Jun Omaga, compared to you these have real identities with, profiles and pictures even. Have you been to their blogs?

      • reynz says:

        Roy,

I will not defend OMAGA, whoever he/she is, but you don’t even call them SPAM BLOGS, but these blogs should have not been counted and as a responsible blogger you should have questioned them too. That responsibility is with all of your kasamahan na binoto nang mga blogs na to. I firmly believe that it was Jena Isle who forces these students to vote for all of you.

  • fatherlyours says:

I have know Roy personally last Iblog5 and I find him honest, sincere and very helpful fellow.Sana maging malinaw ang lahat.

  • Jun Omaga says:

Oops Roy, those students are so guapo and beautiful, i thought for a while they were pics of Korean telenovela stars lifted from the internet. I will attend my first eyeball soon…. i -linya mo nga silang lahat and make a presentation. This controversy is worse than the one figured in by Carl Ocab. At least, we know that Carl blogs kasi he has hundreds of blog posts to date. In short, they are SPAM BLOGS !

    • Roy says:

      funny…

so you’re basis is the number of posts? then, continue to watch these blogs until these students graduate… and then count the number of posts.

I noticed, you seem to be an authority on SPAM BLOGS, I wonder why

I guess, it’s your words against mine

      • reynz says:

        Roy,

Parehas ni Omaga, it’s in the number of posts that I focus on. However, to me, suspect was the fact na sabay sabay ang bukas nuong May 2009 and sabay sabay ang vote noong July 2009 and NO ENTRIES no more. I’m sure with this blog coverage they are getting baka nga magblog na sila beginning today. I can’t understand bat di mo nakikita na they were just created to vote for you and you’re friends. O

  • jeri says:

      • jeri says:

Ramon.. yung talent ko na hindi ko inilalabas… itatago ko na lang.. he he he he! … salamat parekoy, ikaw din parekoy idol din kita not only being a blogger but being a good father to your kids…dahil yan ang higit na mas importante sa buhay ng isang lalaki…. mabuhay ka parekoy

      • reynz says:

        Mon,

And this is the reason bakit nag-laho si Snow sa top ten because, 30 of those students voted the same bloggers, voted the same time at ginawang project siguro nang titser to make her blogger friends happy and you don’t need a high school degree to figure this out.

This whole voting is ridiculous!

        • Snow says:

Totoo nga ang kasabihang: ‘Integrity is doing the right thing, even no one is watching’…

I’m speechless here, you know how sincere and supportive I am to Jedi Bloggers Group…hindi ko akalaing may ganito Kuya Roy. :(

In the meantime, pakitanggal ninyo na lang muna ako sa blogroll ninyo. It will take a lot of time siguro bago ko makalimutan ito. :(

          I used to believe in you guys… :( :( :(

          • jeri says:

It seems so painful but snow still keep being humble… most bloggers know who is the best, and who cheated.

          • bloggista says:

Hug nalang kita Snow. To cheer up Snow! SIno sasama?

  • jeri says:

Hanep ganda talaga ni Snow… kita ko sa forwarded pic…ooohh my God!.. si Bluepan in love na naman daw… he he he jowk lang snow.

  • rhona says:

    What a shame…

if i had known na ganun lang ang gagawin ng ibang bloggers, I could have used the blog accounts of my clients to vote for me.

I’m sure you know what this email is all about. I’m surprised Reynz, not because I’m in your line of fire, I can take that. I’m surprised because the students were hanged like pinata ready to be hit by any takers.

I really hoped you have taken your investigations further. You’ve linked to my blog post where the students were featured, I’m sure you’ll be aware that I know them. Their blogs links were live, you could have checked.

These are legitimate blogs, I’m sure you can tell that. they were required by their teacher, even before the EIB has started, it is just an “experimental” idea which would be presented to their school once proven effective.

I couldn’t care less whether I deserve the title or not, I don’t even care if think I’m capable of resorting to dirty tricks. I am more concern about the enthusiasm of these kids, once some people get to their blogs and say ‘unfriendly’ things.

You have always fought for fair and accurate reporting, but this time Reynz, you judged these students as illegitimate bloggers just because they made noise by participating in the EIB project?

Take your investigation further if you must Reynz. You have left everything hangging in a free-for-all scenario, and I am really concerned for these kids.

Interview them if you want to, these are college students who can answer for themselves. Do the ‘fare and accurate’ reporting you’ve been advocating Reynz.

    MY RESPONSE?

They all joined in a public awards. How does that excuse them from scrutiny?! They are now fair game. Understand that this is public and I will post this email in the post.

    • Silver says:

If these student bloggers are not spam bloggers just as what Roy claims, might as well that these bloggers should reveal their identities and their true affliation with the school.

Otherwise, if they cant produce legit identities as bloggers, therefore, they are just blogs mushroomed out of nowhere and magically voted for the EIB.

I find this recent development DISTURBING.

    • reynz says:

Roy is sooo wrong in what he is insinuating that these students be spared from our scrutiny and investigation. Ano yon? Pag-bobotohin tapos exempted sa mga tanong and more questions? Who are these students? Who is Jenna Isle?

I would like to know kung totoo ngang teacher si Jenna Isle sa isang university and kung totoo nga tong mga student bloggers na to who frequents blog nang mga halos triple pa ang edad sa kanila!

  • Ajay says:

OMG. What is this ruckus all about?

If I may suggest to the Clinical Chemistry bloggers, clinical chemistry including posts about asbestos, cortisol, hyphotalamus have very high click-through rates and is a very lucrative niche. LOL

    • Glo says:

o yeah ms ajay…dapat kumikita sila while writing those contents. ;)

hahaha!!! parang webmd, medicinet and the likes.

bottomline…if you are going to write such contents, make sure you are being paid for it.

That’s my point – sana sinabi ni Roy yan sa mga estudyante na once they join the contest – they are fair game. Kung ayaw nilang scrutiny, pwes wag silang sasali. Kaso, were they coerced by their teacher dahil pare parehas and date nung ginawa ang blog?

  • Glo says:

like whoever told those clinical chem students to vote for certain blogs and bloggers…???

at bakit naging project ng mga clinical chem students ang blogging?? wala na bang mai-pagawang matino ang teacher nila? hahaha!!! well i presume mga nursing, med tech, etc students sila? napaka-ganda ng mga kurso eh bakit mag-blog about clinical chem?! they have better thing to do in school than blog about clinical chem. it is just weird for me. ;) unless nakasalalay ang grades mo dito?! ;) hindi baga??

    • jeri says:

There is really something wrong about this…sabi ng ng intsik,, SAM TING WONG.

    • Mel says:

ate glow, korakness! blogging na ba ang mas effective way of learning clinical chemistry compared to researching from real books in the library? unless nga nakasalalay dito ang grades nila. kawawa naman ang mga schoodents. very disturbing. disturbing behaviour. nyehehehe

      • Silver says:

        Glo,

Baka akala nila e laboratory ang buladasphere. Heheh.

      • pehpot says:

    • reynz says:

the links are complete Glo. you can check out their entries. pare-parehans ang pattern.

      1.) Hello world
2.) Harbat entries sa wikipedia or anywhere, post videos
      3.) Vote for Jedi Bloggers

      Ganun lang

  • an2nette says:

    • reynz says:

because i know that the judging was absolutely ridiculous and I am not the one who would just raise it’s foul but I want you all to see what I am seeing

  • bloggista says:

Whoaaahh! Ilag lang ako Roy and Reynz… :-)

  • dencios says:

    hahaha

    • reynz says:

      dencios,

to me, this is the essence of Cory, dito nagsisimula Dencios, sa mga exercises na to dahil ano ang pinag-kaiba nang 2010 elections kung ang exercise nating to eh puno nang mga questionable actions and dispositions? hindi lang sa pulitika tinatama, kahit na dito sa buladasphere

      • dencios says:

amen! kaya stalker mo ako e (at ng barrio) hehe.

        • reynz says:

          alam mo Denz,

  • cora says:

Well, they insulted not only the (fairy) GODMOTHER’s intelligence but the whole B7 inhabitants.

To Quote Michael Corleone in Godfather II: “Don’t tell me that you’re innocent. Because it insults my (OUR)intelligence and it makes me (US) very angry.” —and when we (B7) get angry we get BALLISTIC!

    • jimg2940 says:

And knowing your history dito sa barrio…mahirap na lang magsalita!

      • reynz says:

        Jim exactly:

what are you trying to insinuate JIM?! that i hacked my own site?! i have email communications with Bluehost and I prepared to challenge kung ano man yang sinasabi mo and I dare challenge you na ilabas yan.

        • Silver says:

            ABANGAN!

          • reynz says:

this is not the issue here JIM. hindi mo kami pwedeng i-sway of what we are talking about. Go blog about it, I’d like to know kung sino ang tumira nang site ko. But this will be for another day.

  • Mel says:

I forgot kung ano nga yun. Sp.. spa… spaghetti blogs! Hahahaha!

    • jeri says:

      me tama ka dyan Mel…

    • Mahalia says:

in fairness naman Mel, kapag-make up blog yan, sigurado akong papatok yan, kasi maraming nag memeykup.

and you would think na halos standard na naten yan because we have been there.

now here’s the interesting part – i learned that this Jenna Isle writes for helium and i suspect she also writes for whereever else

my point? dumaan yong 50 blogs nya sa requirement nang 90 days old. ba’t nakasaksak ang mga Chembloggers na 3 entries lang? well, pwede namang sabihing dahil 90 days old na?

    • bluepanjeet says:

hahahaha italian o Filipino sauce? bwahjahahaha

    • pehpot says:

  • rhona says:

    tanong ng tanga:

pwede bang i-boto ang sarili as an Influential Blogger? Naguluhan kasi ako.

    • Reesie says:

Oo naman Rhonz. Gawa ka lang ng mga ghost blogs. Hahaha. Or yung sinabi mo na, ginamit mo sana yung account ng clients mo. Lols.

As for this EIB award, I regretted I even join this. Hmpt!

      • rhona says:

kasi Reesie I noticed that one blog (Regnard’s) had a top 10 but one of the entries was his own blog.

    • reynz says:

@rhona, kung talagang ang kapal ang mukha nang blogger (am not referring to you) talagang ibobot sarili nya. meron akong alam na isa. itago naten sa pangalang CARLO.

      • pehpot says:

wla naman ganyanan Inay Reyna.. aba binoto ko din sarili kong blog no.. keber ba.. e para sa aking influential ang blog ko no, ikaw ba naman masunugan ng ilang putaheng ulam kakakalikot sa Make or Break.. hindi mo ba masasabing influential un? ha? ha? ha?

  • cora says:

I am hoping against hope na sana yung mga ARTICLES posted by these “pseudo”-bloggers are not PLAGIARISED!

  • Lalaine S. says:

The students do cite sources in some instances. I think, the problem is oversight on the part of the teacher who required them to blog in the first place for presumably academic/educational purposes. Wikipedia as their frequently cited source is a case in point. That’s just dodgy. :(

    • reynz says:

because they were lectured siguro na dapat ganito gawin mo dahil these student are not just amateur bloggers – they just have no clue how to blog! and one could see that from their entries!

You know. They were lucky to start their ‘blogs’ at the ‘right time’ kaya they participated na rin to ‘help’ because they were ‘influenced’ a lot. LOL

  • Amor says:

whew! ang init dito, speechless ako.

  • Silver says:

I see a STRANGE RELATIONSHIP between some of the Jedi Bloggers and Jena Isle.

Who is Jena Isle btw? Can somebody bring a clarification on that? I see this as: Jedi Bloggers = Jena Isle = Clin Chem Bloggers. Strange isnt it? And to think 13 nominations is really a BIG DEAL to usher in the awards in their laps.

I am wondering too about the existence of this Clin Chem Bloggers. First, they started on almost THE EXACT DATE. Second, they posted their nominations for EIB on the EXACT AND SAME DATE. And third, if they are really legit blogs, then how come their posts are so damn erratic? You know, matatawag bang blog ang makaharbat ng espasyo sa WP at Blogger then tatlong posts lang?Sabay-sabay pa? Is that a qualified blog already? Is that a qualified blog to nominate na?

Its quite dodgy nga naman kasi sabay sabay nag-umpisa, sabay-sabay nagboto at pare-parehas walang matinong post up until now. Hindi kaya they are created just to nominate some people?

ANG LABO NG RULES NI JANET TORAL WHEN IT COMES TO THIS SO I THINK DAPAT SUMAGOT SIYA SA ISSUE NA ITO.

    • Reesie says:

If I were La Kapitana, I would also feel the same – I would feel betrayed.

At agree ako sa lahat ng sinabi mo fwend! How? How?

My gut instinct tells me that there is something wrong in attending there.

Because you can be POPULAR BUT YOU ARE NOT INFLUENTIAL ENOUGH FOR OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE.

      • jepoy says:

          • jimg2940 says:

@Reesie, we are barely just scratching the surface; and there’s more to this hoopla. For now, I’m just enjoying myself
with all the shenanigans. I salute Kapitana for her investigative efforts which I suspect long time ago.

Insulto?

          • jeri says:

still young pa naman si reesie ah… cute pa!..di vaaa? tinuod man gid.

          • Reesie says:

@jim: nako wag mong dibdibin ang comment ko.. kaya nga tinatanong kita kung anong ibig sabihin ng sinabi mo? kasi ang pagkakaintindi ko: sinabi mo na ngayon lang namin nalaman na HINDI SUkatan ng influential ang popularidad which I think is an insult. kaya pinapa-elaborate ko sayo baka nagkamali ako ng intindi. kung hindi insulto yun, okay fine. end of the story. :D

            may gatas sa labi,

            reesie

          • Maldito says:

kung may gatas pa sa labi? qualified na qualified sa katorse!he he he he

    • BURAOT says:

Jena Isle is a friend of mine who have several blogs. main of which is Gewgaw Writings. she is a talented writer, and one of my articles was in fact featured on that site. her network consists mostly of talented writers like myself (heheheh) and poets like myself (sempre sisingit ako ulit).

i also voted for Jan Geronimo, who is my kababayan, coz he writes well too.

now concerning Clin. Chem Bloggers, i had no idea about it ’til this post. now Roy, who’s also an online friend might be more helpful coz he hails from the same city (or just province) as these student bloggers who were like kabute sprouting from the ground to support EIB.

    • reynz says:

Jena Isle and the Chem Bloggers relationship – that we know as simple. Siguro teacher nila tong si Jena Isle.

If it is true that Jena Isle teaches at a university, tiga Angeles si Roy di ba? So anong connection ni Roy ki Jena Isle? Who are these people?

  • BURAOT says:

my only question is this? nailabas na ba ni Janet yung spreadsheet tally? bakit mukhang ayaw?

    • jimg2940 says:

Spreadsheets daw JT at pihong magkakalintikan na!

      Haha…sinong gusto ng omelete?

    • cora says:

Kung may ilalabas, malamang INO-ORASYUNAN pa nila….Well, we can always wait.

“What’s laughable and at the same time tragic about all this sordid mess is that harsh words were thrown into the mix, hurting a lot of people’s feelings. Really, hell hath no fury like a nominator(?) whose nominee did not win. Or something to that effect. My take on all this is, if you can’t play the game, get out of the way. Don’t go crying to mommy or raise a ruckus because some sector did not play by the rules, when, lol, there are no rules. So what’s all this bitching about? You joined the game and you got played. That’s all there is to it.”

SO WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! YOU KNOW IT’S WRONG AND YOU WILL JUST AGREE AND NOD AND CONTINUE ON?! THAT IS NOT ME. SORRY. I WILL BALK. IF I HAVE LENT MY INTEGRITY AND CREDIBILITY WITH THAT AWARDING BODY, THEY THEY SHOULD FOLLOW MY STANDARDS. PERIOD AND THAT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

I HOPE YOU ARE READING THE SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING. IT’S NO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE GOVERNMENT. WHERE WERE YOU!?

What’s laughable and at the same time tragic about all this sordid mess is that harsh words were thrown into the mix, hurting a lot of people’s feelings.

Oh really?

Really, hell hath no fury like a nominator(?) whose nominee did not win. Or something to that effect.

Hey, that is not the questions here. NO ONE from here is going after that award. You know exactly the subject don’t sway us with you words.

So what’s all this bitching about? You joined the game and you got played. That’s all there is to it.

And the Truth Shall Set You Free
This beautiful quotation: “Truth will prevail,” is an apt quotation for this post. No matter how you hide the truth, and no matter how you cover it up, it will always shine in all its glory in the end. It is such a beautiful thought and simultaneously a time tested adage that we often ignore. Experience had proven though, that indeed this is true.

I also believe that at the time of reckoning you answer only to Him and Him alone because He alone knows the truth about you and what you have done in your mundane existence.

The Clin Chem bloggers are part of the truth I have right now. These are young men and women who derive their values from what we set as examples. ( self-respect and respect for others, helpfulness, has a grateful heart, not selfish, is resourceful and has ingenuity , is pro-man and nationalistic and most of all –lives with a clear conscience. )

I had introduced them to the blogging world because I had wanted them to experience the immense information and learning modalities they could avail of online; how we are a supportive, helpful and dynamic group of people that they can learn and interact with. I see the blogging world as a new tool to enhance their learning skills and I was encouraged because of the vast technology they could utilize; hence the birth of the Clin Chem Bloggers.

I have assigned scheduled posts in between exams and other school work. Blogging is not everything they do; they have to turn in assignments on time, prepare oral presentations and take their exams. And their posting depends upon the on-going schedule they have in school. This week is their midterm exams.

College life is toxic. I ‘m sure you have experienced this yourselves, so for the whole semester and the next semester, they have a scheduled activity.

In fact, their next assigned activity – which was posted August 4, (take note of the date) – is due on or before August 19. And there will be continuing posts up to the next semester.

The Clin Chem Bloggers are genuine blogs with real people behind who voluntarily voted for the Jedi bloggers – after visiting the Jedi blogs. How could they describe the blogs if they hadn’t? They have not violated any rules of the contest and are therefore valid votes.

Let’s not dampen their trusting and sincere enthusiasm in blogging by clouding their honest votes and labeling them spams. Instead let’s encourage them and show the beauty and wonder of the blogosphere.

If I really wanted to create splogs for the contest, I could have enlisted all the other blogs which were recently created by the incoming students. There are a handful of them.

The blogs voted by these Clin Chem Bloggers are worth your precious time, I can assure you. These are truly emerging blogs which could positively “influence” people across the globe. You’ll come across interesting , artistic, entertaining and info- laden posts in these blogs. Being influential for me is being able to evoke the positive traits from your readers, and I am proud to be a Jedi Blogger!

I wanted to remain mum at first, but remaining silent may be interpreted by some as being acquiescent.

This would be the first and last time I’ll be posting about this topic.

My parting words would be, “ In time, truth will prevail.”

  • Reesie says:

When I started blogging I had no clue that blog awards existed. So, who told these newbies? You know the answer to that….

I really don’t get it – what’s the relationship between clinical chemistry and blogging? If it were an IT or Comp Sci subject I would understand. Ang layo ng chemistry at blogging! For sure these students have IT subject(s) as well, kahit introduction to Information Technology or Computer man lang.. di vah? The designated instructors on these said subjects should be the one to introduce to the students the massive information we can get from the web.. bakit clinical chemistry teacher? di ko ma gets. she could’ve asked the students to do some research online on a certain topic of clinical chemistry.. that I can understand.. pero para irequire ang clinical chemistry students to create a blog.. ewan ko lang!

You can’t help but question her motives. Hindi niya tayo masisisi.

    • Glo says:

exactly my sentiments ressie! i too am still blogging without any concern for blog awards.

also, i am a chemist myself but i stayed away from such a topic in blogging. coz i knew i’d end up copying from chem websites.

anyways…i do blog on health and wellness. one application yan ng chem where you can insert your own scientific background.

yan ang sabi ko sa comment sa pinakataas na sana chem application i-blog nila. otherwise it is just weird for me. ;)

    • reynz says:

      PERFECT!

What’s the motive to create blogs all at the same time in MAY 2009?!

What’s the motive of NUMBERED blogs?! (entry coming up soon!)

What’s the motive of asking student to VOTE for JEDI BLOGGERS?!

AHA! Kasasabi lang ni JENA ISLE na she is proud to be JEDI! Whew!

Now let’s get back to the 3 entries and relate it to Clinical Chemistry! Anyone?

  • Ajay says:

Hmm, baka akala nila walang blogger na chemist, and they thought they won’t be under the scrutiny of a professional UP graduate chemist like you, Glo, and an honor grad like you Reesie?? Some people simply think they can get away with anything. The World Wide Web is too small for shit like that to be peddled around.

    • Glo says:

      NICELY said ms. ajay!!!

they forget that people have credentials just because they blog anonymously or with an alias.

look at reynz? CFO yan nasa US! imagine that? tapos okray-okrayin ng iba just because bading lingo sya sa blog nya??

we all have alter-egos. and we tend to blog about a totally different topic from what we really do (our profession) because we find that refreshing. ;) at least i do find that refreshing. maiba naman hindi baga??

exactly why i watch teleseryes at night. i have friends who still work in the lab these days that do too. ang reason namin, para luminaw naman ang mga ulo namin. kahit bakya for others, maiba naman for us. bcoz kung puro science ka na maghapon…science ka pa sa gabi?? naka mabaliw ka na nyan

so i really understand reynz why he blogs the way he blogs (and the GUTS he’s got in blogging) and i really really admire him for it. walang bola yan reynz ha! galing sa puso ko yan.

shhhh! wag na sabihin ang school ko! ;) HAHAHAHHA!!

      but thank you ms. ajay.

and that was the problem of mombragger with me, and that was the problem of apollo 13 to me, and that was the problem of doctor in uniform to me, and that was the problem of sintunado voices to me, and that was the problem of hindi DNKY na matanda, and that was the problem of so many self-proclaimed influential bloggers na porque barriotic ang lola, immediately, hungry purita jologs ang lola and I am not.

like this Jenna. tingin nya sa mga bloggers mga tanga. WELL WE WILL SEE KUNG SINO TALAGA ANG TANGA. LET THE TRUTH BE OUT! Yon ang sabi nya. AND I WILL NOT STOP. I WILL NOT STOP ON THIS ISSUE.

      It’s a challenge by JENNA. It’s a challenge that I will accept.

    quoting Jena Isle:

“The Clin Chem Bloggers are genuine blogs with real people behind..who voluntarily voted for the Jedi bloggers – after visiting the Jedi blogs”

Weh? Ang nakakaloka lang, they all voted the same! But I don’t blame the students.

How could they describe the blogs if they hadn’t?

Some of them don’t have any explanation why they voted jan or z or whatever. So many obvious copy-paste entry.

They have not violated any rules of the contest and are therefore valid votes.

We’ll let the organizers be responsible for that.

FYI, I am friends with some of the Jedis and I do not condemn them in this issue. What I despise is the acts of the manipulator aka Jena. You obvioulsy have a personal desire to attain something for the glory of your group called Jedi bloggers. Fame? Power? Award? Adulation? Such a disgrace. Ano bang kaguluhan ‘to?!

Dapat yan nilinaw from the start na hindi puedeng bukas blog, boto, panalo. And Reynz, you’re right – it should not be called Influential because it’s a popularity contest.

    • reynz says:

  • pehpot says:

  • The Ca t says:

The Clin Chem Bloggers are genuine blogs with real people behind who voluntarily voted for the Jedi bloggers – after visiting the Jedi blogs. How could they describe the blogs if they hadn’t? They have not violated any rules of the contest and are therefore valid votes.

    My fellow academician:

No more than two persons think alike. When all men in a group think alike there is hardly no thinking at all.

In an controlled market study where subjects are made to choose among the products, most likely the result will be different preferences.

When a group of 29 students are provided with the list of blogs that they can read and they voted for all , it defeats the objective of an academician to inspire independent thinking.

What is instilled is fear of being punished if they are not going to do whatever was “instructed” to them. The evidence that the list of the bloggers was supplied by the people of interest is in the fact that all students voted for the same number and same blogs as if it were block voting.

IT is unethical for a person in the academe to use her authority to peddle influence and to exert pressure for conformance to an endeavour which is not even academic oriented. Another title may emerge. The emerging influential peddlers.

We have to accept that in the academe, the threat to the students may may not even be expressed but knowing that students’ passing are generally dependent on the “kindness” of the teachers/professors, a simple command or a request is enough to make these students abandon their principle and make the teachers happy.

This is no different from mayors who require their employees to attend people power for them when they’re being booted out of their positions or if they require them to attend the mayor’s political party’s protest rallies.

What haD the VOTING for the emerging influential bloggers and MAKING LINKS TO THE ADVERTISERS of the contest to do with the discussions about anatomy and physiology of human body which were copied from their books.

A website or a blog is encouraged for students to present their own ideas and not to copy notes that can easily be found in informational blogs. Critical thinking is one of the skills that need to be developed among the students.

Anything that makes students copy from different sources is encouraging plagiarism especially if there is no input that comes from the writers.

Does the professor who allowed the blogs of her students to be used to vote for a group of bloggers not aware of this?

So what values is she talking about?

self-respect and respect for others, helpfulness, has a grateful heart, not selfish, is resourceful and has ingenuity , is pro-man and nationalistic and most of all –lives with a clear conscience.

How can a student/ blogger has self-respect when he or she has no independent mind of her/his own.

What ingenuity is exhibited by the bloggers who just derived their writings from sources which are easily accessed by other bloggers. Did they invent mechanical device or come up with how learning can be facilitated ?. Using a ready-made template does not fall under inguinenty not even under creativity.

It is not being pro-man which i can see. IT IS PRO-GROUP OF BLOGGERS.
    TSEH.

What is creativity here is forming some blogs for a specific purpose. It is Enron-like creativity where shell companies were created to show strength of the companies in terms of investments which was non-existent. So twisted so corrupt, so creative.

If this is just a POPULARITY BLOG CONTEST, why engage in this kind of activity which puts their credibility under scrutiny? Election of the president is also based on popularity blog. Cheating is also rampant.

i like your article blue. it said all which i didn’t. pareho tayong nasa academe so we know what is and what is not ethical.

        • bluepanjeet says:

Thats true madame. where I came from, mahigpit ang aming VP for Academic affairs. Pati mga activities outside sa school even projects should be presented to the dean. and the dean would approve. of course i understand that respective academes have their differences when it comes to protocol. But to use the kids to vote? I think it doesnt need a rocket scientist to know the implication of it.

OO GINAWA KO IYON! INUTUSAN KO SILA NA IBOTO KAME.KEBS NYO? INGGIT LANG KAYO DAHIL HINDI KAYO NANALO. E DI NEXT YEAR GAWIN NYO DIN.

Lols.

      • Snow says:

        @Glo
I don’t threaten or dictate people to vote for me. I play the game fair and square. I ask them to consider me and that was it.

        @Reesie
I have staff and HS friends who have blogs but I did not dictate them to vote for me. And with a current Alexa ranking of 199,102 as of today (august 11), tingin ko binabasa naman ng mga tao ang blog ko…

        • Reesie says:

tama ka Snowy.. kahit hindi ka nanalo, your alexa ranking alone speaks for itself. you don’t need some awarding body out there to recognize your blog. at the end of the day, it’s the readers’ opinion of your blog that matters the most.

        • reynz says:

it’s of no use Snow kung winner ka tapoz they wrecked the awards sa mga lecheng votes nang mga pwinersang mga estudyante.

SNOW, I REALLY THINK YOUR BLOG IS ONE OF THE WINNERS WITH OR WITHOUT AWARDS. SAME WITH SILVER’S AND THE BARRIO’S.

          • Silver says:

            Chi,

Hahhahaha.

Pero in fernezz to Snow, halatang dinugas ng ilan ang awards para sila ang maging sikat. They are operating on the assumption that being popular is being influential na din. DUN SILA NAGKAMALI. LOOOOLLL.

          • Snow says:

            @Chi- Thanks Chi…
@Silver – Hindi ako nasisilaw sa awards.

    • Glo says:

remember yung chem soc ko nung college…was born in 1964…that is 45 years of several generations of students. baka pati mga apo nila, mahimok kong iboto ang B7. and that’s just my college group alone! maraming pang iba na post-college days.

get the picture jenna, clinical chem students and jedi bloggers??!!! ambot sa inyong lahat!!! baka buong bicol region iboto din ang B7. humanda kayo!

      • Glo says:

yun nga lang…i dont drag other people to the blogosphere just because they are my friends. ;) especially those who dont even blog.

tama ka snow, kung maganda ang blog mo…people will find it and read it. without u threatening or forcing them to. ;)

        • reynz says:

Glo, that’s right. Like cat said, as a teacher, she does not have to use her influence. i bet you not a single one of thee students are lurkers dun sa mga binoto nila. easy picture to analyze, STUDENTS – TEACHER. anong math ang kelangan mo here? siempre susunod ang mga students.

        • pehpot says:

haha.. just when I started blogging, none of my friends knew about it.. ngayon nagugulat sila na sikat na ako (jowk)

      • pehpot says:

chemsoc ka pala ate glow.. aba’y sana tinawagan mo nga lahat ng ka org mo at for sure naman more than 50% of them knew how to “make” a blog and ask them to vote for B7 at sana tinakot mo.. kung hindi bubuhusan ko kayo ng HCl wahaha

    • reynz says:

      Pehpot,

    About me

It has been my long time dream to become a writer, even when I was still in my pigtails. Fate though had other plans for me.

In spite of my pursuing a different profession and even amidst my busy schedule in the academe, I still have not given up on my dream.
I wrote whenever I had the time, during breaks, after work and even during a kidney break in class.

I had some short stories and poems published in local magazines but I still have not written a book. I hope I can do that in the near future.

I am an allied medical professional, handling Clinical Chemistry, Endocrinology, Clinical Toxicology and Physiology subjects in the University where I am presently connected. I enjoy this challenging endeavour because in learning, one has to be creative and dynamic. I believe too that learning is a lifelong process.

It has been an honor for me to be the moderator of the College paper. This has given me the chance to encourage students to explore their creative talents too, even if they belong to the field of chemistry and science.

Contrary to common perception, the arts, sciences and education are a perfectly dynamic trio.

I write as Jena Isle in my 10 blogs, and they often ask me how I am able to do this. It’s simple, I have found my passion and I enjoy writing and blogging.

Join me as I venture and explore the various concepts of these three interesting worlds.

      • pehpot says:

I really don’t get why do you need to utilize blogging as a way to communicate with the students. Is it an open university type of class where in you don’t meet regularly?

why do you need to post this type of article? why oh why?

naguguluhan talaga ako.. kahit saang anggulo mo ito tingnan hindi ko marelate.. siguro pede nyo kameng bigyan ng idea kung ano ba talagaa ng ibig sabihn ng clinical chem.. kasama ba sa subject matter ang how to be a good blogger?

        • reynz says:

          Pehpot,

ganito yan: ang claim namen is that – THESE ARE NOT BLOGS.

eto lumabas ang isa pang proof: ginawa ni Virginia Gacea aka Jenna Isle, she gives assignment sa mga students nya and post it in a blog created for chenalyn ever daw.

YOu think they do it on their own?

Let me spell if for you.

          PLAGIARISM ata ang tawag dun

    • reynz says:

      WHOAH! NICE! NICE!

  • ark says:

Wow, grabe ito, parang investigative journalism. Pero I like the way you presented the facts. I hope the organizer(s) of this writing project will set the record straight.

    • reynz says:

thank you. that was a project. a lot of work involved. but there were B7 writers who helped me. i need to show exactly what i saw and present that way it could be seen so it could be checked. i want to be as trasparent as what i tell my audience. and that’s the way it was.

  • reynz says:

And here’s another proof na hindi na ata Chemistry ang tinuturo nito ni Jena Isle, and para talagang lumabas na blog sya!

Maximize the Exposure of Your Blogs
    ATTENTION: MT 4 STUDENTS:

    For the 4th week:

Maximize the exposure of your blogs by using these pointers:

    1. Read other blogs’ posts and understand the content so you could leave well thought of comments, or comments that could contribute to the post.

    2. Do not leave a comment asking them to visit your blogs. This is considered spamming.

    3. Do not leave generic , one -liner comments like: “Great post!”, “Brilliant!” “You’re great!” If you can’t avoid this, then explain why you think the post is great, etc.

    4. If you commented properly and then you do not get any return visit, then you have to accept the fact that not all bloggers would do the same.

    5. Visit and read as many blogs as you can, especially those that belong to the same genre as your topic.

    GOOD LUCK, CC student-bloggers!

    • Reesie says:

ginawang blogging class ang clinical chemistry class niya? ngeek.

    • pehpot says:

why do they need to maximize the exposure of their blogs? to appear that these are actually blogs? that these blogs are existing and socializing with other blogs as well? teka Inay.. suggestion lang.. next topic:

How a teacher can influence the students to blog.

    • Chi says:

naku ano ba yan! muka tlagang pwersahan. e mga kabaryo me rule and regulations ba sa blogging? naku basta ako sulat ke sulat ng khit anong dumapo sa yutak ko! keber s lahat! wla naman kyang maghabla sa kin??? hahaha.

  • benj says:

Well, it’s a vote block. There were vote blocks before but this one is just pushing it through the roof (not to mention the generally accepted boundaries of human decency).

Congratulations for your blog’s success, though. Your non inclusion should not be an issue. Also, Alexa is no longer seen as a good indicator of how strong a blog’s following is. Your blog is obviously bigger than the competition so don’t sweat it.

Here are the notable exclusions from the list of ten:
2007 – Happyslip.com <yes, her. The superstar failed to make the list.
2008 – Pinoymountaineer.com < probably the best mountaineering site in the Philippines.

incidentally, I campaigned heavily for these sites. haha

    • reynz says:

      @atheista,

Congratulations for your blog’s success, though. Your non inclusion should not be an issue.

U should read before you comment. That’s not my issue. My issue was that they fucked up the awards and they were blessed by Janette Toral and Janette Toral asked me to support this awards. I put my credibility into this awards and I expect them to be along my standards and not some lunatic professor. We have proof. I have proof. And more is coming.

Barrio Siete is Barrio Siete and I know our performance and not one blog in the Philippines can match our performance. Not even your friends and the winners of your sham Phillippine Barkadahan Awards.

Alexa is no longer seen as a good indicator of how strong a blog’s following is.

is it because your blog Visit Sagada has 2,564,557 Alexa rank?! you should just shut down your blog Atheista. no one is interested in your blog. and considering you were awarded by another sham Philippine Blog Award that pretty much tells us your worth, korak?

Your blog is obviously bigger than the competition so don’t sweat it.

That’s right. Not one of those blogs awarded by the sham Philippine Barkadahan Awards can beat Barrio Siete. NOT ONE. Including your blog.

  • Silver says:

But the biggest blame should go to Janet Toral for making bilang of these blogs at isantabi ba ang ibang blogs ng legit bloggers.

Naka! Parang sa eleksyon ah, MAY FLYING VOTERS!!!

    Tapos yun pa ang nabilang!!!

JANET TORAL SHOULD EXPLAIN SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. Ugh. *facepalm*

    • reynz says:

That’s the big question to Janette Toral, why would she not include legitimate blogs at isinalya nya versus Chem bloggers na ang content are puro harbat and dikta nang titset nilang si Jena Isle?!

What does that make of this blog awards?! Nag-re-ready na ba tayo sa 2010 Elections?

for me the bottom line is, who benefited the most from all these?

*clinchem, clin chem, clinical chemistry, clinical, chemistry* sounds SEO to me..

    Saludo ako.

  • Emmeline says:

It took me a while to understand the issue. And now the reaction– d ko alam kung blogging class un class netong c Jena Isle or Clinical Chemistry. Open University ba etong University where she teaches? Para mgkaroon cla ng blog isa-isa? May be the dean of the University should be informed na un assignment ng class is to read blogs and leave comments dun sa blog na hindi pede ang “BRILLIANT”. I visited her site too and some of the site of her students. Goodness gracious! D naman blog yun, d kaya cla makasuhan against COPYRIGHTS? hay, very creative tong c Jena (read: Fraudster). Cno niloloko nya? hmm.. STUDENTS nya?! May be she just wanted to win or her friends to win this contest.. like anyone else.. sino ba naman ayaw manalo. But then again the end does not justify the means! and besides nasa ACADEME sya.. May be she forgot her code of conduct, that at all times she has to adhere to the strict moral and ethical code as a professor. REYNA– may be the next topic to talk about is ETHICS.

    • reynz says:

      Emmeline,

we are currently deliberating on this issue. if you asked me, i will not rest on just showing what i saw and what we discovered.

blue pointed out the ethical aspect from the academe side.

i guess your guess is as good as mine.

are you now thinking of what’s our LOGICAL MOVE IS?

      you will know soon…

  • Emmeline says:

At my “truth shall prevail” pa sya dun sa blog nya. GRRR..

    • reynz says:

Blue in his entry (next to this) has laid out the truth – very well. That Jena was twisted in even bringing God into her twisted truth.

  • Chi says:

WHAT IS THIS???? SEEYEETEE!!! LITSI!! ANAK NG TOKWA!!! UBER EXCITED PA NAMAN AKO SA RESULTS. KYA AKO TAKANG TKA KUNG BAKIT DI MANLANG NANALO ANG BARRIO KHIT 10TH!!! HAY NAKU GUYS DI BLE NA WINNER PA RIN ANG BARRIO EVER KHIT WALANG AWARDS!

Upon hearing the issue, I was dumbfounded to hear that they have been accusing us of being spams! If you people could see for yourselves how much time and effort we put to this and this is what we get in return? I don’t think we deserve such treatment. You guys are older than us, so I guess you know better, but a lot of you proved me wrong. I looked up to you people as influences, and you have disappointed me, and my fellow Clin Chem Bloggers. As said above, truth will prevail. We stand by the truth, knowing we are right, we fight for our rights. It is unjust that you have stepped on us like this, there are 29 of us, we stand by our mentor, we stand by our rights, we are not SPAMS and TRUTH is OURS!

      Here’s the TRUTH:

      1.)Jena Isle was the titser
2.)She tasked her students to blog beginning May 2009
      3.)Here are the entries:
      a.) 1st entry – hello world
b.) 2nd entry – harbat wikipedia entry, harbat video
      c.) 3rd entry – vote Jedi Bloggers
d.) other JEDI bloggers vote exactly the same
4.) Janette Toral counts and declares winners
      5.) Jedi Bloggers Win
      6.) Roy thanks Chembloggers

  • The Ca t says:

As a person with former administrative position in the university, I looked into complaints from both the teaching staff and the students.

I was very careful with issues brought to my table about faculty members. Some of them must have been motivated by the students’ prejudice or animosity towards the faculty.

Going back before I rudely interrupted myself to inject humor…

In this case, i would be looking at the objectives of the course. These normally come first in the course syllabi after the course descriptions.

I would welcome innovations by the faculty, like asking the students to simulate business in a particular subject where business principles can be applied or put into practice. I would accept justifications of diversion from the course objectives as long as they are within the parameter of the required number of hours, scope and activities which do not hinder their studies of other subjects and do not give too pressure to them that may affect their individualities.

With this long introduction, let me tackle the objectives given by Roy for creating the blogs. This in fact may be considered under learning management system both for delivering technology-enabled course content, if they had been true to their intent as expressed in the following:

With the blessing and guidance of their professor, these 29 students created their blogs:

    1. To enhance the learning-teaching process through Web-Based Instructional Materials (WBIM).

I do not see any instructional material in the blogs. Questions and answers alone do not make up an instructional material.

    2. To synchronize learning-teaching methods with relevant, available updates in technology.

What learning-teaching methods for the blog entries were they voted for the influential bloggers. Pray tell me.

    3. To encourage students to utilize current technology in their learning process.

I would have believed this if the blogs were purely devoted to the subjects for which they were created.

    4. To adapt current and global online methods of learning.

    Same observation.

If I were to be asked if this case is going to be brought to the attention of the university. I am for it not to destroy the personal lfe of the person under question but to correct a practice that may appear to be sanctioned by the university without its knowledge.

I would not make any recommendation for disciplinary action since every university has its own university policies and procedures.

I am not keen whether these are spam blogs (don’t make me lecture on this topic please) or not. My concern is the use of the profession to influence the students on voting which may be against their will but they can’t complain.

    Just my thoughts.
