In a separate interview, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez explained that the unaccredited groups probably failed to show their constituency and track record of advocacy for the sector they seek to represent.
He said one or two of them do not even supposedly represent a marginzalized sector.
Jimenez further said that even if their names remain on the ballot, votes cast for them would not be factored into the computation of the votes for the party-list winners. “Those whose names are on the list but are not accredited, you’re votes will be stray,” he said.
This partylist system is being played by some political whoever who dont even know the marginalized sector they are representing. The system is being exploited by people who have political agendas of their own, not the agendas of the marginalized sector they are trying to represent. Seriously, a partylist group for cockfighters and balut vendors?? And we are seeing the same old faces again, running for partylist representatives? Some of them still have court cases attached to their names?
The system is being used in the numbers game in the Congress. COMELEC should have stringent rules in the partylist system. I dont care if the so-called system is complicated – they should establish rigid rules so that the exploitation of the loopholes within the system will be reduced, if not eradicated.
