Ahmadinejad wins landslide in disputed election

14 June 2009 19 Comments

Do we hear Pinoy politicians going back to their war room and strategizing on the 2010 Elections given what happened in Iran? And why should we Barrio Siete people be interested with what’s going on in Iran? It’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner in the recently concluded Presidential Elections in Iran. Mir Hossein Moussavi, a reformist was his big rival and supporters in the Tehran streets are crying foul. If you should all recall, the former US President George Bush called Iran as part of the “Axis of Evil” and for as long as nuclear arsenals are skyrocketing in that part of the globe, world peace will never creep into the dictionaries of these powers. Who’s affected? Think of how many Overseas Filipino Workers in the area.

Today, the government of Iran said that Ahmadinejad won Friday’s presidential election with 62.63 percent of the vote and Mir Hossein Moussavi received 33.75 percent of the vote.

It was a big turnout. I’m sure, Iranians wanted a change. Iran’s Interior Minister Seyed Sadeq Mahsouli said 85 percent of the country’s 46 million eligible voters had gone to the polls Friday. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called the voters’ turnout a show of Iran’s “pride” and “honor.”

Technology has been a key tactic in politically mobilizing young people in Iran, but text messaging has not been working in Iran over recent days. However, Iranian protesters still arrived en masse at meeting places around Tehran on Saturday morning.

Hmmm..

  • darbs says:

In the first place why would/should we go TO that road kung MAGING HONEST MAN LANG ANG ELECTION.

Can Phil can have an honest at walang ka Garci Garcing, Hello, ano ka hilong election?

May election ba kayang nangyari?

    The Cheater or The Accuser.

      ser darbs,

wala na daw dayaan sabi ng smartmatic. in two days ay malalaman na agad ang resulta ng eleksyon sa Pinas!

      • darbs says:

@dencios walang dayaan umuusok na ung smartmatic. ano na lang kung, lets say, organized hacking brute force to change the result, baka sasabog na yang machine na yan.

      • dencios says:

Tinawag nyang Axis of Evil ang Iran back then. But during that time, hindi si Ahmadinejad ang president, si Khatemi pa ang president nila nun.

And then mas nakakatawa pa yung ni-release na photo ng Iranian missile launch. Hahah. Na-irelease pa ng CNN at New York Times yun, only to find out na PHOTOSHOPPED ang picture na yun. Hahahha… Hindi anim na missiles ang naifire dun – its only three.

Hahahaha…

Hahahah. Lakas mang-asar sa US.

I would consider Kim Jong-Il to be more menacing than Ahmadinejad.

Hehehe.

Actually, kahit sino ang manalo sa kanila sa president, the religious body still rules Iran… as long as their so-called supreme leader Ayatollah is being recognized.

According to history, the monarchy-ruled Iran was on the way to superpower and secularism. When secularism was on full swing, religious leaders rose and students were mostly brainwashed by ideals… Some were turned into saboteurs and destabilizers, bombing cinemas and etc. massacres… and pointed fingers to the current government and other Zionists. Since Iran enjoys a Muslim majority, the sympathy goes now to the Ayatollahs…

Somehow, Iran is another parallel universe of Philippines. Installing “God-fearing” and “righteous” men in power but little can be done to put society in order… we look at religion as our liberty and ultimate guide to life yet we actually suffer from the various influences of intolerant leadership, in different magnitude.

Do you know a lot of gays were executed after the revolution? and still happening… Singers, actors, businessmen…

There are also various cases of unjust detention linking to religious conformity issues.

There’s some sort of similarity actually between this Iran’s election with the 1986 Elections in the Philippines.

Marcos won the election at that time, that’s according to him. But we all knew that the election was rigged. 4 days later, he was gone because the Church rallied his people against the rigged elections. Now, that was the moral authority of the church then.

In Iran, even if it is widely perceived that the elections were rigged, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, seemed to have alreade closed the door for possible compromise, negotiations and discussion by telling his flock to unite behind Ahmadinejad, calling the result a “divine assessment.”

@Art. Nah, sorry but that comment is out of touch. No way!

Indiscriminate killing of men, women, and children? including the new born and unborn? How can anybody can even think of that possibility?

      Wow.

  • lee says:
