ANG CREDENTIALS, BOW

NAKAKABALIW, NAKAKAALIW
NAKAKATAKA, NAKAKASUKA
NAKAKAGULO, NAKAKABOBO
NAKAKALOKO,NAKAKAUTO

NAKAKAGALIT, NAKAKAINIS
NAKAKAPIKON,NAKAKASIPON
NAKAKASAYA, NAKAKANTA

With S. Translation. May karapatan.

But of course, Charlie. (sinong Charlie?) yong mailman dito. Hehehe!

  • [...] be the first to write an entry explaining about credentials? Ibaba ninyo ang kilay. Here it is. Credentials, Bow. Batu-bato sa langit, wala akong ibinato. [...]

  • Rob Angeles says:

Korekek!

why are filipinos like that di ba? very judgemental?

now that my credentials are out in the open, i am beginning to hear sum’tin again…

      from California pa naman…

      • Rob Angeles says:

LOL! Well, you just can’t please them all specially with the followers you have. Di muna siguro ako uuwi LOL!

      • bebe says:

    rob,
itago natin sila sa pangalang A, B, C.

gusto mo bang magigiyera ako at si reyna.
    hehehe

  • reyna elena says:

Love it or hate it, Pinoys are actually rabid about credentials as we are about education which is almost a religion to us. Kunyari pa ang mga iba dyan kesyo credentials doesn’t matter in writing but rather puro lang discernment. This was actually the reason why I was bullied for many years just because what they read on my blog were barriotic spells from one half n half and I never posted my credentials anywhere because i wanted them to see my humor, only now in response to some challenges.

But i like the explanation, credentials are not just educational achievements, it could be your genuine experience into any field, which you are an expert of, yes, it includes homemaking.

But why do i suspect na magkakaron na naman nang issue just because we decided to be transparent sa credentials naten? hehehe!

    • Rob Angeles says:

Hmmmm crab mentality. Why? Like what you said, love it or hate it. It seems that every time you do your best to do or promote good things, there will be someone down there who will hate you for it and thus, pull you down. Another observation I’ve seen is that when the battle of the brains starts and the other party runs out of reasonable conversations, the last bullet will be character attack. A classic!

      • reyna elena says:

I’ve seen is that when the battle of the brains starts and the other party runs out of reasonable conversations, the last bullet will be character attack. A classic!

it always is. pinoys are one of kind. i don’t think we ever changed.

    • bebe says:

    • reyna elena says:

i have a friend, blogger. for now, sikweet muna. but he did good, real good in his career. naging manager and i expect him to be promoted as director. actually, talking to him, i did not even knew he did not have a BS degree. when i went back to bus school, he confided to me. i was shocked. he needed a BS to give him that sort of blessing that indeed he is a “manager” pang confidence building ba dahil daw parang me kulang.

i pushed him to go back to school. he is at rutgers university now, malapit na hehehe

  • The Cat says:

    reynz,

    • reyna elena says:

i guess there is this ridiculous notion na pag me mga ABC ka na sa pangalan mo that you now talk ABC lingo kahit na sa mga taong di inabot ang inabot nila.

i take it very differently. i believe that as we get those ABC’s, it’s actually our job na ipaintindi sa kanila ang mga bagay bagay in their own terms at hindi sa emperor hahahaha

  • The Cat says:

    mahalia,
tama yon. credentials should not be the end. they should be the means to achieve your goals.

  • GabbyD says:

sometime, a credentialed person can be wrong. it should be clear from the arguments that the other person makes whether or not the claim is correct. or the facts — thanks to the internet, facts can be verifiable and more facts is better… i wish that more people would take the time to make the argument, put the onus on themselves to to prove what they are saying, to really sketch out an argument.

    • reyna elena says:

thanks to the internet, facts can be verifiable and more facts is better…

Then, CORRECT me Gabby. Show it to me. If I am wrong, there’s no reason why I should NOT apologize to you.

I know fully well that you are referring to me GabbyD and I know how you’re twisted argument won’t work. I also know that you are defending the momblogger’s entry on FV. Unfortunately, both you and her can never convince me that by starting investments and using consumer confidence index is a good one.

I stand by what I have written and given the experience I have in investing, even my mentors would choose what’s going on behind CPI.

Let me ask you GabbyD, considering that you are defending momblogger’s arguments – why would you invest long-term when you have agreed that CCI is short-term?

      • GabbyD says:

i wasn’t referring to you. i was speaking in generalities. do you agree that credentialed people can be wrong? do you agree that some people don’t bother to argue?

also, i never asked for an apology. i was hoping for a conversation. but in that thread you said, no matter what i wrote, you’d never consider it.

        so i stopped arguing.

next: i never said that using CCI was important to long-term investing.

more importantly: momblogger never said that. that was what i was arguing about/for. she never claimed anything close to that. she never even insinuated it.

that was my only goal. we can criticize what she in fact said, but not what you claim she said.

if anything, she advised the opposite: we should save more regardless of economic conditions.

if you want, you can criticize that, like how Cat criticized it… have at it. at least, thats what she actually said, and not a misreading of what momblogger wrote.

i also wrote an example showing my points as well…

but its OK. if you dont want to have a conversation about it, then its ok. i’m aware this is small potatotes so we don’t have to make it a big deal.

also, i have always been civil right? so why be snarky now? i’ve always used arguments and example when and where appropriate. i thought that you’d appreciate that. when i said that i thought you were wrong, i never stopped there: i’d ask questions, present arguments, and give examples, summarize your position, etc.

if my arguments are twisted, then at least explain why its twisted, as opposed to just calling it twisted, and then, calling it a day.

i thought it was important enough to talk about it. if you want to continue the conversation, then we should move it back to your blog.

    • reyna elena says:

Si GabbyD, pag hindi bumalik at ipinakita saken kung saan ang mali, i will nominate him sa Barangay Tanod na i-deport.

      • reyna elena says:

        @GabbyD,

do you agree that credentialed people can be wrong? do you agree that some people don’t bother to argue?

President Clinton made mistakes. GabbyD, I was not born yesterday.

also, i never asked for an apology. i was hoping for a conversation. but in that thread you said, no matter what i wrote, you’d never consider itc

You said in your comment above: “thanks to the internet, facts can be verifiable and more facts is better…” therefore, I asked you to present your proof and prove me wrong so I can apologize to you.

Now, consider? You are asking me to agree with your opinion and I don’t agree with you. I’ve pointed it out several times. Cat, pointed it out in her comments.

more importantly: momblogger never said that. that was what i was arguing about/for. she never claimed anything close to that. she never even insinuated it.

Of which you are wrong. I’ve said it in my opening paragraph. I don’t write like all these pretentious intellectual bloggers from FV. My english could be understood in the barrio. All the insinuations are there even at the end. Worse, even giving an advice, like going on fashion business??? All using CCI.

but its OK. if you dont want to have a conversation about it, then its ok. i’m aware this is small potatotes so we don’t have to make it a big deal.

I can have a conversation with anyone, even with the entire platoon of FV. You should have known by now, I was not afraid to respond to their challenge. But what do we have to talk? Circuitously? To agree to your opinion?

        so why be snarky now?

Oh, so, if someone does not agree with you, you call them snarky?

if you want to continue the conversation, then we should move it back to your blog

you were the one who brought it up here. i don’t think your generalizing was meant to get back at me because i never agreed with you and your english contruction games.

      • GabbyD says:

i said snarky coz you felt that i was criticizing you in my original post above.

i swear, it has nothing to do with you! promise!

my comment was about cat’s post about credentials. yun lang.

when i wrote ““thanks to the internet, facts can be verifiable and more facts is better…””, thats a general proposition also.

when i said credentialed people can make mistakes, thats general too.
thats is NOT about you specifically. i didn’t even hint it was about you.

i didn’t want to go back to our original disagreement.

also, what are english construction games? i wasn’t playing a game.

i was pointing out that your reading of her blog post is wrong. i gave you arguments. i told you exactly how it is not an insinuation. i also said, i was open to being wrong, i said i agree its poorly written, etc… its all in the comment section of your blog… i’ve always been straight with you.

anyways, off topic ito dito. i’ll go back to your blog so we can take it up there.

      • reyna elena says:

        Huli pung ka gabbyD. anyway,

was pointing out that your reading of her blog post is wrong. i gave you arguments. i told you exactly how it is not an insinuation. i also said, i was open to being wrong, i said i agree its poorly written, etc… its all in the comment section of your blog… i’ve always been straight with you.

Opening the paragraph on retirements? Then going into CCI? Then encouraging consumers to open microenterprises? This does not just sounds financial advice! It is financial advice on based on consumer confidence! I think you’re the one who’s not getting it right!

  • The Cat says:

    reyna,

stress kills people and srrogance kills relationships.

    • reyna elena says:

totoo yan cat. wala kaming kakilalang meyor, governor, president, o kaya anak nang secretary dati ni marcos, or apo nang isang presidente to help us. nada. kahit barangay captain, wala kaming kakilala.

nakakapit ang lola dyan sa diploma.

  • The Cat says:

    Rob,

  • The Cat says:

Hmmmm crab mentality. Why? Like what you said, love it or hate it. It seems that every time you do your best to do or promote good things, there will be someone down there who will hate you for it and thus, pull you down.

    • GabbyD says:

is crab mentality purely pinoy? di ba meron din ganun, kahit sa ibang culture. especially in a very competitive environment where you need to differentiate yourself/market yourself… right?

      • reyna elena says:

        is crab mentality purely pinoy?

hell no! you live in California, i’m sure you must have heard stories about other cultures there.

here in New Orleans, ang mga ibang itim na tiga isla galet sa mga itim na tiga dito dahil mababa ang tingin nila.

that’s just one sample. alam kong alam mo to.

      • GabbyD says:

yeah, i agree. although i wonder if its more prevalent sa pilipino/pilipinas OR whether we just highlight it more (and pinoys aren’t really more crab-like as other cultures)…

  • The Cat says:

totoo yan cat. wala kaming kakilalang meyor, governor, president, o kaya anak nang secretary dati ni marcos, or apo nang isang presidente to help us. nada. kahit barangay captain, wala kaming kakilala.

nakakapit ang lola dyan sa diploma.

siguro that makes us sensitive about our credentials because we worked for them. tapos may mga taong hindi pinaghirapan ang kanilang puwesto dahil ang tatay nila ay malakas, ang pangalan nila ay kilala ang acting as if they are really achievers and people should believe them.

    • reyna elena says:

siguro that makes us sensitive about our credentials because we worked for them.

that’s true! kaya naiirita ako whenever i read things like “Charlie O.” is the grandson of the Secretary of Whatever, as if it’s credentials enough. we worked our ass and then you have these people who proclaims to the world all their intellectualism by putting down somebody which pisses the shit out of me. para bang balik ka sa buhay mo sa barrio na aapak-apakan ka lang and i can name these manila bloggers if i would have to!

  • lee says:

  • The Cat says:

Yes AUF ako. Another Useless Filipino. And about MA, malayo na. Are you from there?

My boss, my mentor was his consultant so I tagged along with him since it’s me who did the paper work.

  • Roy says:

    hanep! hataw sa post!

    at hirit agad! hahaha!

  • The Cat says:

    hehehe

  • jan geronimo says:

Galing! A dog with credentials! Pedigreed ba ang dog na ito? Parang hindi ano sa tingin ko lang. I mean to say if this is so – there’s hope for other dogs out there to get a better life.

The askals. The barriotic dogs whose dreams and aspirations we cannot scoff at just because they have yet to get their own credentials for some reason or another.

Insightful examination and definition of the word credentials, Ms. Cat. I felt my mind expand just be reading you. Thanks a lot.

Long live the dogs who live a dog’s life but whose dreams and aspirations are truly noble!
Here’s a toast to you all.

    • Silver says:

      Hahaha…..

Vet med daw ang asong yan, according to Cat…hahaha

  • The Cat says:

more importantly: momblogger never said that. that was what i was arguing about/for. she never claimed anything close to that. she never even insinuated it.

encouraging consumers to open microenterprises or in larger industry sound like advice for investment for me too.

what do you think, how are you going to call it.

what must be wrong in that picture is the presentation of a CCI decline of more than 5 per cent and cap the discussion with such an advice on products that are avoided by people during recession.

the people were convinced that there is recession.

the discussion about where the spare money goes like clothing, technology does not necessarily reflect demand for such products during the period. It is only an information where disposable income is spent by the consumers.
Sob why advice to open s business producing these products.

Filipinos are already into plastic (credit card) so that there is no spare money.

People are spending their entire DI and then tapping debt for luxuries they can not afford to pay in cash.

    • GabbyD says:

“encouraging consumers to open microenterprises or in larger industry sound like advice for investment for me too.”

yun na nga cat, if anything, THAT is what she actually said (more precisely, this is what she actually insinuated).

if you want to criticize that, go ahead.

but what we were discussing was momblogger’s insinuation of investment based on the CCI. my contention is that momblogger never said anything like “please invest with the CCI in mind”

if anything, she said, NO MATTER what, mag-invest. .

i know this is small beans, this disagreement. but i feel its important. if at the end of the day, i can’t convince reyna about it, then fine. or if he can convince me, i’m very open to that.

      • reyna elena says:

        GabbyD,

yon na nga eh! ano’t di mo ma-gets ang ibig sabihin nang insinuation? me nakita ka bang “please invest with the CCI in mind” wala di ba? pero merong insinuation. di ba nga nagsulat pa sya at niyayakag na mag invest sa fashion? ano yon? that sounds financial advice to me! that sounds using CCI to come up with that decision! so ano yon ngayon? di ba insinuation yon pag sinuma tutal mo ang buong entry?

sabi mo, that was just presenting a story. that was never never ever a presentation. once you start giving advices like that na mali mali, then it’s not presentation.

  • The Cat says:

    is crab mentality purely pinoy?

It is not… but they are called by other names like tall poppy syndrome in australia and nz.

  • Silver says:

At anong ka-chorvahan happening here….naidlip lang ako ng 30 minutes (bago naistorbo ng mga lassenggo sa kalye) e eto na pala ang gyera mundial here??

    hahahaha….

  • The Cat says:

  • The Cat says:

At anong ka-chorvahan happening here….naidlip lang ako ng 30 minutes (bago naistorbo ng mga lassenggo sa kalye) e eto na pala ang gyera mundial here??

kaya nga matutulog nang matagal. kasi pag gising mi baka giyera na o bagyo.

  • The Cat says:

  • The Cat says:

    Bwahah…

And when I say kung ano ang narating mo or mga achievements mo – it’s not only about career or the financial aspect. I mean life as awhole – kung nag-enjoy ka ba, naging happy ka ba, nag-evolve or nag-grow ka ba…

In fact, hindi sa pagmamayabang this Barrio Siete website is/was created for me. Ehem. hahaha!
