Are online and offline hate campaigns effective?

11 May 2010 34 Comments

As expected, the influence of certain bloggers can now be denied.

Despite all the bashing and scandals unleashed online against candidates such as Herbert Bautista and Noynoy Aquino, including an online hate campaign unleashed against Reyna Elena for supporting Noynoy Aquino, these hate bloggers essentially were spurned by the electorate.

This leads us to this question: Are online and offline hate campaigns effective?

I say, no.

The conventional thinking will probably still be around for a while. What bloggers refuse to understand is that, a clear majority of our population is still impoverished, roughly 60% or more? Their access to online information is still very, very limited.

As I write this entry, I am listening to Manny Villar’s concession speech. He knew that 60%. That’s why the poor message. Noynoy Aquino knew it too. But his poor message resonated more.

In the end, bloggers were preaching to the converted or were effective only in holding on to already established majorities.

That being said, Barrio Siete still called it right and so I, Reyna Elena, your yellow fairy godmother, can now add one more title to my already multi-colored, mile long honorifics.

Ako na ang Bagong Madame Auring.

Holder of two crystal balls.

The left and the right.

An saya!

    Brava! Brava! Bravissima Madama Auring!

Ang moral of the lesson boys, and gheys and ghels is hate is so passe, its so five minutes ago, its so Amiel Aguilar “Loser” Cabanlig. Maybe Mike Defensor should remember that, should he make the mistake of trying to run again with his current PR team.

    Winner take all.

Agree ako diyan Reyna, the past week was nerve-wracking but I also learned lessons from some research I have done which made me even more resolute in supporting Noynoy. But as I said in FV, it is time for us to unite in order to support whoever wins (in this case unofficial results points to Noynoy) because as you said 60% of Filipinos are poor and we are all Filipinos and it is only we who can lift ourselves out of this deplorable conditions. I am very happy with the almost peaceful and successful first ever automated voting. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas.
