When the smoke cleared and the bodies were counted, as Mendoza’s story slowly is spread to a visibly shaken nation, I am shattered by the vicious remarks brought to my doorstep courtesy of Facebook. I see words like “Only in the Philippines” and “nakakahiya tayo.” Here are my countrymen, talking about themselves as though everything that had been done wrong …

The Philippines faces a huge international public relations problem that if we do not resolve soon may increase the threat of retribution against our workers in HK and wreak havoc to our economy by destroying our tourism industry.
We had united to install an honest man as president and our shining victory held us in thrall for a time. President Aquino’s first actions showed an example of humility for us all. Then he set the ball running swiftly to reform our systems to …

Sharing you guys the Statement of Apology by Jackie Chan
First of all, I’d like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims in Hong Kong affected by the tragedy in the Philippines. Maybe what I said wasn’t very clear and it was misunderstood. The content in my Twitter account was posted by my American assistant on my behalf, but after interpretation the posts did not entirely capture what I truly meant to say.
What happened to the Hong Kong tourists in the Philippines – being taken hostage and …

The known facts are these:
On August 19, 2005, Emmanuel “Bong” Madrigal, a Manila-based Filipino executive of the multinational Shell, was visiting Beijing on vacation with his wife Vivian, his daugher Regina Mia, and two younger daughters. That day, they rode a tourist bus to Tiananmen Square, the heart of the capitol. Upon arriving at the square, Emmanuel Madrigal was the first to descend from the bus, followed by Vivian and Regina Mia. A Chinese man wielding a scythe–in some reports …

You see, one of the biggest mistakes I made just recently, in fact, they even dethroned me as Miss Philippines, was not minding the little things that matters the most about joining the Miss Philippines beauty pageant.
(i swear to god! the crowd will roar!)
You see Mr. Baldwin, I am an illegitimate child and in the Philippines, we are being frowned upon.

Let me begin by saying that you will be reading a SONA reaction from a loyal Noynoy Aquino supporter. However, this does not mean that I will be singing kumbaya with my President at all times – just because. Having said that, I will try to be fair with Gloria Arroyo (Can you imagine me saying that? I must be going nuts!) By saying that the findings would have been more believable if it was conducted by a third-party and/or independent auditors and I’m certainly not referring …

We’re getting to be known as a country of plagiarizers. All the way up to the Supreme Court. We have Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo allegedly plagiarizing Criddle and Fox-Descent’s article, “A Fiduciary of Theory of Jus Cogens”. It’s an article that came out in the Yale Journal of International Law last year. He copied at least 31 parts of the article to landscape his April 28, 2010 decision denying the plea of Filipino women who became sex slaves during the Japanese occupation to have …

President Benigno Aquino’s 1st State of the Nation Address (SONA) will be shocking, says one headline news. It reads: “Aquino says SONA will ‘shock’ Filipinos“. But if you read it, it’s all about how much was left by the Arroyo’s on the national coffers. That’s not shocking. That’s expected from these corrupt [insert bloody anything here]. What is shocking is that – you still see all of these KUPALS (thanks to Larry Leviste) prancing around – even in the halls of Congress. That’s what’s shocking.

“A good intention clothes itself with power.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yes, but sometimes, the Emperor wears no clothes.
That’s not to call President Benigno Aquino III a fraud. You cannot say that of a man who won by a landslide. The son of martyred senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late President Corazon C. Aquino managed the feat …

My deep slumbering leadership thoughts were ignited by Arnie’s FB status update. For how can a Filipino miss it? Most politicians start out with some very noble objective to better the lives of our countrymen. Di ba? Almost everyone. And yes, I’m sure, even the Ampatuans.
We have leaders in the country. But even if we all subconsciously know the answer already, dahil makulet ako, I still can’t help asking, hoping that i’m really wrong. but why is it that once they get connected with the government, they would easily …

Maybe some of you have been wondering what my current beef with the NBI is all about. Here’s the story behind it.
When we apply for an NBI clearance and we get cleared – we normally get our passports, or get employed overseas and it indicates we have no “hits” on the system. We are asked to fill out a form – complete names from your maiden name to the name of your parents as well. Then you line up, for hours, for each and every step it …

Let’s talk about ROI.
That’s Return On Investment folks. When you invested too much too many during the election campaign, nangutang ka pa, it is animal nature to get your investment back PLUS a small percentage of returns, very – very small and tiny, like 99% or 101% to eternity. Dear President Noynoy Aquino,
I understand that you are setting an example to the nation for not using wang-wang.
However, while we support Vice-President Binay, we are not yet ready to have him as our President.
I, being your boss, therefore, order you to use wang-wang effective immediately.
FOR STRICT COMPLIANCE.
Signed,

Wang-wang mentality
Wang-wang mentality is really an abuse of power and privilege. It’s bloody annoying to read comments saying that this wang-wang policy is too tiny mini-mayni-mo of a problem to even deserve presidential attention. Naknampooka oo! Translated into common Pinoy language: “Los Indios, lumayas kayo sa kalsada! Wala kayong karapatan ni anuman dahil dadaan kami”. Only the wannabes cannot understand how symbolically big this bloody wang-wang culture is. Worse, government officials are rabidly guilty of these as well as the rich and notoriously wannabe …

(Typo on July 3. Sorry)
Gloria Arroyo, once the illegal occupant of Malacanang is now officially a Congresswoman. At least, she was elected in that position. Without wasting any time, she took the very first step towards charter change and filed a resolution to change the constitution.
Love it or hate it, she deserves credit for being a fast legislator.
In fact, she is still the President of the Philippines. Blame it on the Aquino Team who is very, very, very, very slow. Maybe they’re not really slow; there is just nobody …

This impatient one may owe President Benigno Aquino III an apology for bitching about the lack of specifics in his statements leading to today’s inaugural.
If anything, a load of (sort of) details in the latter part of his inaugural address prevented it from reaching true heights of greatness. I’ll gloss over that part because that’s something he’ll address more in depth at his State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Even with a busted teleprompter that forced him to present just a single angle to the television audience, the rolling, …

So what is it with Ray’s Hell Burger? Could it be winning the White House Burger Battle?
Let’s ask the president of Russia. We know President Obama is a fan.
On a sweltering summer day in Washington on Thursday, Mr. Obama passed on lunch from the White House chefs to take his Russian counterpart, Dmitri A. Medvedev, across the Potomac to Ray’s, a hamburger joint in Arlington, Va.

I’m sure the political party Ang Kapatiran (The Brotherhood) is not dumb. But lest we forget, they are very conservative.
