A different kind of Independence Day
Today, Friday in America, is a big day. This is the day that the switch to digital TV, or DTV is going to happen. It will start at 12:01 a.m. Friday. Around that time, 974 full-power stations that cover major markets such as New York and Los Angeles will start shutting down analog signals. The transition is expected to be done by midnight.

Just one very minor problem gramma!!
About 3.1 million over-the-air homes won’t be ready, Nielsen predicts. Aguy! Hahaha! But hey! Just like any …

All housemaids were not born equal. There are those that semplangs to the left, sometimes way to the right, pati yong driver sa kabilang apartment eh kinalantare na. Our maid at the condo? Nawawala sya nang alas-dose nang tanghali. Ang leche at andun sa Wowowee. My sister fired her. The next maid? She goes home to Novaliches every Friday aftenoon. Taka daw sya, parating isang overnight bag plus one backpack na mistulang going on 1 year vacation.

She will never fail to make you laugh sa mga comments at napakagandang one-liners na binibitawan nya. Ngalay na ang panga natin sa katatawa pero siya di pa rin natigil sa …

A big thank you to all of those who nominated Barrio Siete. They’re on our sidebar. Ako po si La Kapitana and this is a blatant in your face 2009 Election Campaign and I admit, I have no shame and I will do anything for da sake of Barrio Siete hehehe! So, I am openly campaigning for your votes and nomination to Janette Toral’s Emerging Influential Bloggers for 2009. But first, let me tell you what happened to the ones I nominated.
How are Reyna’s candidates to Janet Toral’s Emerging Influential …

We all know that our dear country where our Barrio Siete is, the Philippines is mired into some deep corruption at all levels. We are all so sick of all thieveries that is happening at all levels of management that we tend to forget the little ones.
Yes, the little Barrio City ones.
Some corrupt practices are very sophisticated, it could not readily be known to a layman. Some involved multi-party, so synchronize to a point that agents from CSI-Miami would not even notice. Especially when you talk about stock manipulations that’s …

Ano ba talaga tong multilevel or “network” marketing plans? Well, isa syang way to sell goods or services through distributors. Typically, etong mga plans na to is promising you na pag nag sign up kayo as distributor, kikita kayo nang commissions – sa mga benta ninyo at sa mga mahahakot mong bagong miembro na magiging distributors also. Etong mga recruits nato eh tinatawag na “downline” mo, kasi, nasa baba mo sya eh.

One of the most beautiful things that ever happened to me coming from Barrio Siete to Barrio States was discovering the world. I was uber thankful to my payrents and my American employers who essentially gave me the opportunity to enjoy the things I love the most. Travel, meet boys people, social climb and immerse in other culture. Eh panu ba naman, lumaki akong kausap ang mga kalabaw, kalaro ang mga baboy, ka-jack-en-poy ang mga manok. But things change Virginia if you start dreaming! Nagkaron ako nang pakpak and …

When I was back in Barrio Siete, I love to play chess.

And the current headlines is like a game of chess. Cesar Mancao arrived from the US. Dacer-Corbito slay is back in the news. One camp make the move, the other follows. Who will be the winner in this political gambit called the 2010 Presidential Elections? It’s interesting how events unfold. I don’t know really if they are connected, I just love the fact the they seem to be a game of chess.

The question of identity is one of the perennial issues in the history of philosophy. According to Plato, what I am is essentially an immaterial soul. Locke on the other hand, maintains that a person is defined by her self-reflective consciousness consists of a substance (body and soul) and relational memory. If we follow the biological criterion, I am is simply a living organism, a human animal the essence of which is being rational…

“Ordinary people do not feel empowered to speak out against corruption … Governments are considered to be ineffective in the fight against corruption—a view that has remained worryingly consistent in most countries over time,”

That’s what it says on Transparency International’s 2009 Global Corruption Barometer Report, released Wednesday. It showed that 77 percent of Filipino respondents thought that the “current government’s actions in the fight against corruption” were “ineffective.” Grabe di ba? Bansagan ka ba namang inutil! I don’t know kung nasasaktan nito ang mga powers that be, but I was!

Good morning people of Barrio Siete! As you know, Barrio Siete is not one unicameral leche-lature, gaya nung ginawang coup nang mga tongressman to chip-in chip-in at lagarein ang ating Constitution at gawing songhits nang mga utabs to sing gloria na! Leche! Hmpt! Be that as it may, maganda tayong lahat kahit na I don’t have P20 million to pay our Barrio Council, Councilors and Dayong Baryo. But what I know is this:

ALL ABOUT SNOW

Camarines Sur Representative Luis Villafuerte has resigned from the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) party. He was the party president. La Kapitana del Barrio Siete is not part of this merger.

Anyway, his party – Kampi Party was supposed to merge with the ruling administration party Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats. Who presided the merger? Gloria Arroyo.
Even former President Ramos, the chairman emeritus of Lakas-CMD was a no show. Pangasinan Representative Jose de Venecia, who resigned last year as Lakas president and was appointed president emeritus, resigned from his post on the eve …

She also wrote poems and some were published in “Heartbeat”, their official school publication and continued writing essays while at the University. She even won something from a literary contest to which she claims “nagkamali ata …
