Breaking News: Noynoy to run for President, 2010

9 September 2009 17 Comments

PHILIPPINES-AQUINO/Club Filipino, San Juan. Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III officially announced his candidacy as PRESIDENT for 2010, exactly 40 days after the death of his mother, President Corazon Aquino. After his spiritual retreat, Noynoy has finally decided and in line with his “late candidacy” the PISO PARA KAY NOYNOY was launched. Piso para kay Noynoy is a fund rasing activity for his candidacy fund..

This was the same place where his mother, late President Cory Aquino, took oath as President in 1986. The announcement was concluded with a Bayan Ko song whilst everyone is singing with an L sign on their hands.

His rumored (or not anymore) girlfriend Shalani Soledad was there too. His sisters Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris was there too.

Personalities present at the jam-packed room were Liberal Party members Senators Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Francis Pangilinan, former Sen. Franklin Drilon, Quezon Representative Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III, former congressmen Florencio “Butch” Abad and Nereus Acosta, singer-composer Jim Paredes, former Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz and Leah Navarro of the Black and White Movement. This is becoming more interesting. From what I heard in SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon) Kiko Pangilinan will give way if Mar Roxas decided to run for VP along side Noynoy. The official announcement of Noynoy paved way to the possibility of a United Opposition. I am not a political person and I don’t indulge myself with too much politics, but hey this Presidential run is invading my showbiz news watching!

Will you vote for Noynoy if he would be the standing bearer of the United Opposition?

UPDATE 9:41 AM: From our CALABARZON News Bureau:

Noynoy disclosed that Gloria Arroyo was his former professor in economics and chided to the laughter of the people in Club Filipino that “it seems she (my) mentor forgot what she thought me”.

In other news, Former President Fidel V. Ramos and Former Speaker of the House Jose De Venecia withdrew membership from the ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD party, saying that they want to return to the radical origin of LAKAS and they intend to redeem the party to its original cause and form. They also stated their support for Noynoy Aquino. We can recall that FVR was very loyal to President Cory Aquino during her term and was instrumental in Catapulting Ramos to the Presidency.

Meanwhile, the Aquino Family is scheduled to separate ways in celebrating their mother’s 40th day of death, going to different places to sporadically thank the People for their prayers and support. Kris Aquino is going to Bataan, Pinky is going to De La salle, Ballsy is to go to the Diocese of Cubao, Cousin Mikey Cojunagco in Tarlac and another Cousin Rapa Lopa in Davao.

Update from our Bukidnon Bureau:

Finally, after a week of soul-searching and retreat Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has announced early this morning his bid for President in the May 2010 elections.

The important announcement took place in Club Filipino in San Juan, Metro Manila during the 40th day of former President Corazon Aquino’s death. Present in the event are the officers and members of the Liberal Party and Noynoy’s siblings, Ballsy, Pinky, Viel and Kris.

Here are parts of the transcript of Noy’s announcement:

“Tinatanggap ko ang hiling ng sambayanan. Tinatanggap ko din ang bilin at tagubilin ng aking mga magulang. Tinatanggap ko ang responsibilidad na ituloy ang laban para sa bayan. Bayang Pilipinas, tatakbo po ako sa pagkapangulo sa darating na halalan. Itutuloy natin ang laban.”

Earlier last week, Senator Mar Roxas backed out from his plan to run for President to give way to Senator Noynoy.

Will we see a Noynoy-Mar tandem for next year’s election?

I certainly hope so.

I think from the brood of candidates planning to run for president next year, they are the tandem to beat.

I just hope other opposition candidates (read: Erap, Manny Villar & Bro. Eddie) will follow what Seantor Roxas did and support Noy’s candidacy.

Good luck to Noynoy. Sana his good and pure intentions are enough.

  • Leo says:

de quiros’ latest column says it perfectly againsts noynoy’s critics:

“The thought, or challenge, persists: Can Noynoy do it? Or variations thereof: Is he qualified to become president? Is he prepared to become president? Does he have what it takes to be president?

The question doesn’t just come from Arroyo’s people, who ask it with dutiful sneers. The question comes from readers who ask it with dutiful concern. One e-mail I got put it this way: If you’re applying to become CEO of a company, you have to submit a résumé. What commends Noynoy to become CEO of this country?

First off, the question, “Will Noynoy be a good CEO?” is a wrong one. The job at hand is not CEO of a company, it is janitor of a building. What this country needs today is not someone to manage things, it is someone to clean up things. What we need today is not someone to make a business flourish, it is someone to make a dwelling place habitable, one whose previous tenant left it in a condition only cockroaches, rats, and real-estate speculators, in ascending order of predation, can appreciate. Who better to do this than Noynoy?

Or if you persist in using the CEO image, the job at hand is CEO, but only of a company that has been bankrupted by a bunch of crooks. Whom would you hire to revive it? An efficiency freak with a long résumé but who has business interests that compete with the company, who is a known tirador or beholden to people who are, and who therefore can only be trusted to efficiently pillage some more? Or someone you can trust?”

Let’s see what Noynoy’s platform is. how he will achieve it. I would say, why not for Noynoy. malapit na yata akong maconvince ni Conrado de Quiros eh, Magsulat ba naman siya ng Yes he can. Aba, akmang akma sa mga tanong ko.

Pero, not until the election day.

    lesser evil?

si NOYNOY na nga siguro yun!

  • Pinoy says:

I just watch the video from GMA http://www.gmanews.tv

  • Pinoy says:

Now, that Noynoy already made his final decision and formally declared his candidacy for presidential election, a lot of expectations from the Filipino people is now in his shoulder, as what his Parents did in giving back the democracy in our country decades ago, a freedom for the Filipino people from 20 years of dictatorship of Marcos.

Whereas, our country is suffering same situation, the corruption of Arroyo Government and the worse regime that the Philippines ever have. I hope that it will be ended next year.

Again, with my own opinion, Senator Noynoy Aquino has the credibility among the aspiring presidential candidates for 2010 national election, and comparing to those existing traditional politicians in our country.

  • Mel says:

Noynoy for Makeover! I mean, Noynoy for President!
