Candidate’s Competency?

Competency (definitions from Google):
- The quality of being adequately or well qualified physically and intellectually
- The ability to perform some task; Meeting specified qualifications to perform; implicit knowledge of a language’s structure
This kind of partisanship and divisiveness among Filipino voters have been used as a leverage by the candidates – whether its your friendly neighborhood barangay captain to the next presidential top model este candidate.
But there is a question that voters as a whole need to address before they cast their chickens and votes: Are these candidates competent enough for the particular position? How can we say that a certain candidate is competent for that post?
Call me a bitter ocampo when it comes to politics, I admit that I am uberly skeptical and pessimistic about the competence of our bureaucrats here in our country. All I know is that they are all good in propaganda, in delving to irrelevant issues, make papogi points to the madlang people na mala-showtime and yeah, anointing themselves as the so-called messiahs against poverty daw.
Majority of the Filipino voters are not that aware of their candidate’s REAL performance in their office and the news they got entangled with. Why? I wonder, baka tubero sila in their past life? LOL.
For example, for a congressman or senator aspiring to become the next president, senator or be re-elected in their post of our country: ilan ba ang mga SIGNIFICANT bills na naipasa nya during his or her term?
Oh well, there goes Philippine politics. It turns out to be one hell of a battle of the brainless. Mismong mga nagawa at taga-pagpatupad ng batas, sila ang lumalabag – gumagawa ng circumventions – mapa-simpleng batas or constitution (saan ka nga ba nakarinig ng presidenteng nag-aaspire pa na maging congressman nitong election? onli in da pilipins!)
O how about namimigay ng tig-bente pesos sa mga bata habang nangangampanya pero di daw yun vote buying chorvalais? Read here and here. With matching scholarships pa! Anu beh yan!
So, how competent nga ba ang inyong mga candidates?? Fire your reactions in the thread below.

i did read about the benti-benti and i read about the scholarship. will that be a cause for disqualification for villar? i doubt. comelec is …. i have no clue what to call them. at one point, they were like the supreme court, ruling on morality. the next day, they disqualified candidates dahil walang entrance fee read: enough campaign money, meanwhile, voters still have no clue about how to use the machines as in ano ba?! it’s just too much…
Isa pang tanong sa COMELEC yan: Are they competent enough ba??
Hmpt.
Please don’t forget the fact that there is a brownout every election period! Wow, at laging nagkakataon!
The other half of it is, competent rin ba ang masang Pilipino na pumili ng liderato nila based on qualification and track record rather than popularity and money?
Hehehhe…sapul mo Kutz…
Tondo Boy:
If I were him, I would just use the money to fund scholarships or any other chorvas he wishes to do when he is in the state of power. I mean, he has the resources, right? He even said, “Kung gusto ko magkapera, eh di sana bumalik na lang ako sa pagiging negosyante.”. A businessman suits him better, then use the money for charity. One does not need be a political person to help. Look at Efren Penaflorida. He doesn’t have money or influence but he did help, right? So instead of wasting money on political ads, give them straight to those who need it.
Mama’s Boy:
You have yet to prove yourself. Using your parents’ name for your candidacy is your own political suicide. It was your parents who did help the democracy, not you. Presidency is something you gain, not INHERIT. I suggest you should stay on being a senator and prove yourself worthy without using your parents’ name.
Kanto Boy:
You have been weighed. You have been measured. And you have been found guilty of plunder. Pardoned as you are, you were still a convict. What, still aching for some more money from the treasury of our country? And what the hell is up with your ad with Mindanao being a peaceful place (sorry to those living here but to prove him wrong, this is a must). Please, I would like you to go to Sulu and Maguindanao and say that on the TV with your grin. Reality check.
Altar Boy:
Back in the middle ages, England was a place where Henry the VII became pissed and seperated the church from the government. He’s a chickboy, yes, but still, it was a good decision. Not every person residing in a country has the same religious views, and I am sure that when the church and the government collide, hell rises up. Every bill must be in accordance with the commandments (I’m a Catholic, but still . . .). This will cause chaos for those who are muslims, buddhists, atheists, etc. Separate the cross from the scales of justice.
Gibo and Gordon:
I have not yet found it in myself to find insights regarding these two candidates, but their experienced and yet-to-be tarnished reputations prove themselves to be good candidates. Gordon has a good VP candidate, BF. I know most of you are mad at BF because of his squatter demolitions but his vision of discipline is exactly what our country needs.
Madrigal? Nuisance candidate. Enough said.
Cheers,
Boggart
