This is an open letter to my all-time favourite food chain. Because I believe that eating should always be a worthwhile experience. Oo, big deal sa akin ito.
Dear Jollibee,
First of all, thank you for making my pamangkins happy.
They love you so much especially Zoe who insists on celebrating her birthday with you every year.
I wrote because of a very important decision you made that made me unhappy.
I love chicken. I love your Chickenjoy. Super. But ever since Jollibee Chicken Barbecue came out in the market, it has been my favourite …

BLOG is defined as “usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries” . wikipedia
People have different reasons why they blog for the same reason that people have different realities. But I am not interested about other reasons why they BLOG. I will speak for myself and I suppose some if not majority of trying-hard bloggers share the same reasons with …

Cable T.V., the internet, and iPhones have made Hollywood accessible with just a click of a button. And, unfortunately, these type of entertainment is also readily available to our children and could very well replace the roles of parents. Many are misled by the glamorous and dysfunctional lives of celebrities and “gangsters,” tagged as “real”, that it has become difficult for our youth to recognize their value in society and behave as citizens of the world. And with both mom and dad working in this present-day family, children are left behind and are very vulnerable to negative influences. (Many boys believe that real men should walk and talk like gangsters. And many girls think that “real men” have the right to treat them badly). And, working with the youth with psychiatric and behavioral challenges, it has become apparent to me that children that have received poor, or none, parenting are more susceptible to behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social problems.

Last week, I had the opportunity to be a positive role model at my children’s elementary school through an initiative called WatchDOGS(Dads Of Great Students), a volunteer program that encourages fathers to bring positive male influences and security back in the school environment…

There’s so much that we in B7 would like to share you all in terms of collective blogging, pramis. In fact, I even begged to the bones and asked Annalyn if we could write an article, back to back sa Manila Bulletin mula front page hanggang dun sa Classified Ads, namura tuloy ako!
But really, if you are thinking of forming a collective blog, ma-trabaho sya. You need three P’s. Pasensya, pasensya, pasensya. But in my mind, here are some key success factors that I know, based on experience:

First, all of …

Thinking of being a blogger? Touch political topics? Show your political color?
Be warned in the jungle. It’s Jurassic Park in Pinoy blogosphere, with dark characters roaming the grounds run by dark societies. I am by no means discouraging you to be a blogger, but consider my short movie presentation…
Reyna Elena has another stalker fan who follows me around. First, he blogged about my delicious affair with an emperor.

Angry with my presidential choice, he turned me into a pig. A freak one. How did I know? He was very nice to …

This March, in celebration of Women’s Month, I will be featured in a men’s magazine known for its racy and sexy photos. So before the issue will come out, and before someone thinks that I have given up my law practice for a more salacious career let me tell you this in advance.
I am one of the women whose pictures appear in FHM’s tenth anniversary edition. Comparatively speaking I have more clothes on than most of the women in it, so before the naysayers start speculating, I’m stating …

There’s another blog who just joined the fray or should I say, rescue the blogs of shamers Brian Gorrel and Dona Victorina who are no match to Barrio Siete? Well, read on with my analintek review. But for now, let’s congratulate this blogger for a very nice Alexa ranking who beats out Barrrio Siete. It’s a blog by one “celebrity” according to Eric. I honestly have no clue who they are! Hahaha! So, if I mixed up some names (the Mo or the Mojo or the Mo Twister of whoever! …

Retards. They seem to be the “in” word these days for losers who have hidden agendas. Sarah Palin wanted President Obama to fire White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for a comment she characterizes as a “slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities” when Rahm Emanuel used the word “retarded” in a close door meeting. But when Rush Limbaugh used the same word in his regular radio broadcast, that was exempted from Sarah Palin’s ire for according to her, it was satire.
I don’t expect Sarah Palin …

Hello, hello! Guess who’s back to join the circus?

First of all, I’d like to apologize for not making sulat any contribution last month. You see, I just got back from the ‘happy place’ after suffering a massive breakdown due to my involvement in that infamous golf player scandal. Yes, yours truly was also a kasalo, and I was slut #19. (insert Krista Ranillo laugh here). Anyway, I’m okay now and Yaya Indira (a.k.a. slut #20) is doing great too.
Today is the official start of the circus commonly known to us …

Sports, hollywood, and political celebrities have joined hands in helping the victims of this recent tragedy to the already suffering nation, and help us all realize what life is truly about. Unfortunately, fanatical comments, like such made by Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh, have made more headlines than the good-doers. The media is also filled with images of the distruction, the dead, and the dying living us with nothing to the imagination and the victims no sense of respect or privacy.

But amidst all of this catastrophe, there many acts of humanity that were left unnoticed by the press. Everywere in the country, Haitians and other volunteers have come together to help fellow victims and pick up whatever there is left. Many of those who perished were volunteers who had done heroic acts of kindness for the impoverished country.

A break from politics and natural disasters.
****************************
On January 8, 1974, hoping for a fresh start, the King of Rock and Roll finalized his divorce papers with Pricilla Presley on his 39th birthday.  At the same moment (but in a different time-zone) on the other side of the planet, tens (or maybe hundreds) of thousands of Filipinos gathered to commemorate another type of King, the Christ.  And as the crowd marched around the streets of Quiapo in praise of the town’s patron saint, Jesus of Nazareth, a new hope was born.  A humble and loving mother from Tondo gave …

Think about this. Dati, there’s about 10% of the Philippine population outside of the country nag-ta-trabaho. Ngayon? Mas marami pa! Wala kasing lecheng trabaho saten noh? As usual, the ritual goes na we all send money back home, konting ipon and hope na makabili tayo nang palasyo. But, let’s admit it. Mahirap. We not only have to deal with the high cost of living kung saan mang lupalop tayo naka-base to …

There is a saying that goes, “Money can’t buy happiness”.
I so totally disagree with that saying because I believe otherwise. Happiness for me is so oftentimes defined and satisfied by material things (oo material girl kasi ako, hahaha).
Casey Johnson, American socialite and actress, heiress to the Johnson & Johnson empire, was found dead in her West Hollywood home’s bedroom last January 4. The cause of death is yet to be determined pending coroner’s and toxicology report, however authorities reported “no evidence of foul play”. (Wikipedia)
Despite being an heiress, hindi …

Simbang Gabi 2009
One of my favorite festivities growing up in the Philippines is the Simbang Gabi (Misa de Gallo or Advent Pre-Dawn Mass), a nine-day day novena leading up to the Christmas Eve Mass representing Mary’s wait for the birth of Jesus. I remember being awaken by musical bands, carolers, church bells, fireworks, and bright Christmas lights and parols. After mass, we would stop at food stalls in the churchyard for Christmas treats such as hot ginger tea and a variety of rice and coconut cakes like the puto bungbong …

Complete power vacuum?
The premature lifting of the unlawful martial law in Maguindanao province was further prompted by a call from the Obama administration. But this is not an assurance that the Filipinos have nothing more to fear about a no-election scenario. To the contrary, the desire of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to stay in power at any cost is still a clear-and-present danger.
So what do you think will happen if there would be massive failure of elections in almost all parts of the …

He sounded like one decent commenter. Trying to join some lively discussion. This is the Barrio. A group of happy rah rah rah people. It’s obvious the foreigner is a foreigner in our Barrio.

And so began Benigno’s ran into the Barrio. Wanting and looking for a debate. But mostly peddling his websites. In fact, Benjamin Kritz populated the internet with his articles and websites reminiscent of what that crazy guy from UK, Ellumbra has done. The tactics were similar.
