I was a fan of Dick Gordon, the man who they called The Flash. He was full of idealism and a natural leader. I would love to be seated next to him. I would love to catch the same breath of air that passes through his sense of national pride.
I first saw him on TV after the tragic 1990 major Luzon earthquake. He was there saving lives in the cities of Baguio and Cabanatuan. Those cities were the hardest hit with several collapsed buildings and hotels. He …

Hello, hello! Guess who’s back to join the circus?
First of all, I’d like to apologize for not making sulat any contribution last month. You see, I just got back from the ‘happy place’ after suffering a massive breakdown due to my involvement in that infamous golf player scandal. Yes, yours truly was also a kasalo, and I was slut #19. (insert Krista Ranillo laugh here). Anyway, I’m okay now and Yaya Indira (a.k.a. slut #20) is doing great too.
Today is the official start of the circus commonly known to us …

“Media monitors have stated that Manny Villar has spent around 2.5B in campaign advertising. Tsk, tsk…, tsk, the official campaign hasn’t even begun. At this rate, he’sll be spending a lot more. How, in case he wins, do you think will he recoup that personal expense?” ~Leah Navarro
Got this through Lila Shahani’s facebook that came from Lea Navarro’s facebook which I am posting and sharing without permission hahaha! See, I was looking for more information about why Noynoy’s numbers drastically went down. Of course, I was disappointed but still hopeful …

If winning the Presidency will have to be based on debates, I’d say, Gibo wins it hands down. In the past debates and forums, he’s always been prepared, well-spoken and knows what he’s talking about. I’ve always admired Gibo in terms of his credentials. But see, he’s got a baggage I don’t like. And at the Presidential Forum in DLSU, he was toasted, grilled and barbecued. Not his day. Here’s what I gathered from the news: (GMA News) and Inquirer)
Failon asked:
“Is there something for which President Arroyo should be held …

First, get yourself educated with the disease. Here’s one good site. I bet you, most people in Manila thinks that HIV is AIDS.
Now, I have no clue why the papers would plaster this phrase “call center workers” on their headline about the rise of HIV in Manila. I thought it was pretty irresponsible. Why? Soon, call center workers will be stereotyped as spreading the virus which is not true.
Unfortunately, in the Philippines where the use of condom is like a mortal sin, you even get a capital punishment from …

Here’s what drove the Senators to make bastos each other sa Bastusang Pambansa. It’s a nice presentation (thanks to GMA News) to truly understand how all these liko-liko, balu-baluktot highway seemed to be looking for something and it was not even the original plan. Sometimes, you begin to wonder, bakit kaya ganun ka-blatant sila by doing this? I would guess, because there has been so many of them in the past who were able to get away with blatant corruption, otherwise, why would politicians do what they do no matter …

Nagulat ako with all these news na para syang puzzle and I put them all together at eto ang nakita ko saking bolang kristal na nakabitay between my legs:
“The Philippines budget deficit soared 17 percent above the official target last year as spending rose to offset the impacts of the global financial crisis, an official said Monday. The deficit hit 293.2 billion pesos (6.35 billion dollars) in 2009, equivalent to 3.7 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), a finance department official, who declined to be named, told AFP. This …

Jan. 21, 2010. This is the day a miniscule blogger was picked on by a pea-size brained Philippine government official. A blogger named Ella of Blog ni Ella is now facing libel charges from an article about those “rotting” merchandise inside the DSWD warehouses.
If you guys can remember, the Philippines took a beating from typhoon Ondoy last October 2009. It was October 22, 2009, when we issued an article in reference to the original article of Blog ni Ella regarding the state of of some government relief efforts in some …

Last week, the Arroyo Administration came up with a two-page advertisements in newspapers titled, “Ganito Tayo Noon, Ganito Tayo Ngayon” trumpeting their achievements. Now, I don’t have a copy of the ad because my secretary was busy with her Farmville. I do not want to disturb her, lest I’d be voted out as the cutest boss to work for.
Now, the other day, Noynoy Aquino’s speech at the Makati Business Club’s Event was very well received by the business community. In that speech, he talked about the looming fiscal crisis. He …

“The leader, who has used public office for private gain, will always be the most committed enemy of change.”
That was Noynoy Aquino’s statement at the Makati Business Club where he was speaking to a standing-room-only crowd. The crowd included many of the country’s captains of industry. This was where Aquino laid out a pro-business and pro-market agenda while distancing himself from often-criticized methods of the Arroyo administration.
His eight-page speech, delivered in about 18 minutes, was interrupted by applause at least seven times. At the end of his speech, MBC …

“I rise on a question of collective privilege on a constitutional issue that affects the integrity of the House and it is very ripe to continue existing.
In the course of the fight for the speakership, Rep. Agapito Aquino, chairman of the reform bloc, raised questions regarding the fitness of Rep. Villar to seek the speakership. Rep. Villar chose to answer the charges but he was overwhelmingly elected Speaker by this House.
Successful election, however, does not answer the questions nor lay to rest charges of wrongdoing, not in government of …

NOW WHAT?!
My problem with these corruption cases and what really pisses me off is that: WHY DO THEY CATCH THEM AFTER THE FACT when most plunderers have already benefited from stolen public money? WHERE IS COA? THE COMMISSION ON AUDIT?! How come there are no proactive moves from the government to stop corruption? With dozens and dozens of legislators, senators, congressman and a lot of departments here, chairman there, secretary here, does anybody from the government knew and/or heard about “PROPER INTERNAL CONTROLS” or was this knowingly and blatantly erased …

There ought to be a law. Congressmen are allocated P70 million a year as pork barrel, on top of their regular pay, allowances and benefits. The least that congressmen can give back to their employer, the Filipino taxpayer, is to work on legislation in between the many lengthy congressional breaks throughout the year.
In many government offices, there are so-called “15-30” employees: people who are seen only during payday on the 15th and 30th of every month, to collect their salary. Negros …

The Crying Need For Honesty
By Jose Ma. Montelibano
EXCERPTS:
“Politics, like business, is also profit-oriented for many of its players. If a candidate can spend millions or billions for positions which pay their occupants only hundreds of thousands a year, it means that there is profit to be made in some other way than mere salary.”
“Money being spent for elections mostly come from the people themselves, “fried in one’s own lard,” as they say. The people do not know this, of course. Only the thieves and their hired lackeys are fully aware …

During the presidential election of 1965 the country witnessed what up to then was the biggest campaign spending. The President Diosdado Macapagal versus challenger Ferdinand Marcos presidential battle saw a flood of money that was spent on media advertising, the greasing of opinion makers, events staging (which included bio movie and book launches) and the enticing of ground level political ward leaders.
It came as no surprise that the winner of that election turned out to be the inspiration of sorts of current plunderers. The heights to which …

1. GlobalBalita.com listed Villar to have certainly come a long way from selling seafoods in the market to be a national leader and businessman today who has now a net worth of $940 million and is fifth of 40 richest Filipinos. He owns Vista Land, a real estate development firm that according to Mrs. Cynthia Villar, a congresswoman herself, has developed 200,000 housing units across all Filipino income classes.
Villar was Speaker and Senate President when his net worth grew beyond the realm of statistical probability and his …

Matinding kahirapan ang dulot nang kurapsyon. Dapat sana ngayon, meron nang world-class superhighway na bumabagtas sa buong kabikolan from Manila all the way to Matnog, Sorsogon – pero wala. Leche!

OH God! What is this?
A man who, to my mind, is undoubtedly the one who brutally killed at least 57 persons, including women and 30 journalists, shall be acquitted?
The prosecutors should be forewarned to discuss this case fully and be prepared, knowing fully well that Andal “Datu Unsay” Ampatuan Jr. and the rest of his clan are being defended by 80 lawyers!
To repeat: 80 lawyers!
There is some truth to the saying that two heads are better than one. In the case of the Ampatuans, there are 80 …
