The Aquino administration Wednesday asked the Sandiganbayan to revoke its approval of the plea bargain between former military comptroller Carlos Garcia and state prosecutors—a compromise Justice Secretary Leila de Lima and a veteran lawyer branded as smacking of a “midnight deal” under then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
In motions seeking to intervene in the case, the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) asked the anti-graft court to set aside its May 4, 2010 resolution that would allow Garcia to escape charges of plunder for allegedly stealing P303 million from the state coffers.
The …

Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson insists his son, Ilocos Sur congressman Ronald Singson, is not a drug user.
Singson made the declaration in an interview with “Tapatan” after several representatives called for the expulsion of his son from Congress, following the declaration of family lawyer, John Reading, that the Ilocos Sur congressman will plead guilty to the charge of drug trafficking in a hearing set on Jan. 26.
Singson said the plea was mere “legal strategy.”
“He was supposed to go back to prison. Nalulungkot kami na mag-new New Year siya duon …

A younger-looking Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made heads turn in Congress and on the world wide web this week.
The former chief executive, known for her short, side-swept do and no-nonsense style, sported on Tuesday her wavy dark brown hair which covered her nape.
The new look complemented her earth-tone makeup and her long bell-sleeved blouse with black buttons.
House Minority Leader Edcel Lagman, a known Arroyo ally, noted that she looks more relaxed after ending her term as president early this year.
“The burden of the highest office of the land is not …

Sharing you guys the Statement of Apology by Jackie Chan

First of all, I’d like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims in Hong Kong affected by the tragedy in the Philippines. Maybe what I said wasn’t very clear and it was misunderstood. The content in my Twitter account was posted by my American assistant on my behalf, but after interpretation the posts did not entirely capture what I truly meant to say.
What happened to the Hong Kong tourists in the Philippines – being taken hostage and …

The Miss Universe 2010 preliminary competition is over. In fact, I am done watching the liveshow at this link.
To those who have missed the show, sana po ay mapanood ninyo ito sa You Tube. Goodness gracious, Venus Raj was a sight to behold and she really exuded a regal aura during the preliminary competition. Nakatulong din ng malaki ang Filipino community natin sa Las Vegas dahil all-out ang support nila sa ating kandidata. Grabe, super-spine tingling talaga lalo na nung pinansin ng host ang mga spectators at sinabing:
Did the …

Indeed, big things comes in small packages!
Check out Jackie Evancho’s ‘America’s Got Talent’ performance HERE where she stunned the crowd, won her a standing ovation and got the stamp of approval from the judges.
Best of luck to this 10-year-old kid. I’m looking forward to see your star shine ala-Susan Boyle in the future!

Looks like being ‘quiet’ is hard for Miss Kris Aquino! After declaring her decision to be inactive on social networking sites, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino surprised her followers by tweeting anew on Aug. 8.
“I’m back! Y? Because we live in a democracy & I’m allowed to use my voice. I promise to be prudent & not be motivated by anger or hate. Will try to be kind & mature. I’m SO BACK. Love love love!!!” her first “comeback” tweet read that night.
As before, Kris updated her Twitter followers …

It’s all or nothing.
Labor union officials claiming to represent farmers in Hacienda Luisita Thursday rejected any arrangement that would give them only a third of the sugar plantation owned by the family of President Benigno Aquino III.
“We want all the 4,915 hectares that the [Department of Agrarian Reform] ordered to be covered by the [Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program] in 2006,” said Lito Bais, acting president of United Luisita Workers Union (ULWU).
Bais was reacting to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report that Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) had worked out a settlement with …

“Unfair kayo sa kapatid ko!” That was the statement blurted out by one of the Villar sisters during the press conference they held.
In my mind, what the sister meant was that, Manny Villar, the candidate was fair and truthful in his political campaign dealings, thus the sister demanded fairness, was she not? Which brings me to this question: Was there really truth and fairness in the Villar campaign?
Let’s back up for a minute and check the “fair barometer” of Manny Villar.
1.) Given what came out of the press investigation …

I get FB tags all the time. But this was one tag that truly surprised me. In this video, Jamby Madrigal discusses an alleged conspiracy between Mike Velarde and Manny Villar in regards to the continuing C5 road project controversy. She said:
“Politically there is this conspiracy of Villar and Brother Mike because they have been partners in C for a long time. C for corruption, C for C5,”

Filipino pageant fanatics from the four corners of the globe are now asking more questions to the Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) regarding the dethronement of Bb. What do we have in common with Argentina? A lot of things. They were under a military dictatorship. We were under the Marcos dictatorship. They have Evita, we have Imelda. They have the famous “Don’t cry for me Argentina“. We have “Nakalangoy ka na ba sa basura“.
This is largely a country of Gauchos while we were Los Indios of Spain. They have a population of 40 million. We’re better. We have 90 million. They are Catholics who adore Jesus Christ. We adore Manny Pacquiao, Jesus Crist!!! They’re one of the …

You’d ask: WHAT?!
Oh yeah. Exactly how I reacted. I don’t want any disruption of election. I don’t want to see NO-EL. I want people to be vigilant and protect one of the most important event on May 10, 2010.

In the news! Poor kids organization with P24 million is poor and marginalized. Very poor.
Yeap. Everyone is marginalized. In fact, Mikey Arroyo is.
But in fairness to Akbayan (Go Risa!) and several other decent and genuine party-list, the more I am not liking this party-list system. Here’s another sick example.
Akap Bata is a party-list group claiming to represent poor children. What’s interesting with their political campaign ad is that, it is subliminally endorsing Manny Villar because it’s very similar to “Dagat ng Basura” ad with some minor changes, including the voice …

Oh my gulay!
Naloka ako sa ‘The Buzz’ tonight. Well, sa kalagitnaan kasi ng palabas ay medyo naguluhan ako dahil punung-puno ng iyakan.
Nagtaka tuloy ako. Akala ko kasi ay nag-reformat from talk show to drama show ang ‘The Buzz’…hehehe…
Ganito kasi yun…
The first crying moment happened while Boy Abunda is interviewing Ruffa Gutierrez to finally say goodbye to ‘The Buzz’ family. The former beauty queen is in her usual smiles clarifying issues but she suddenly cried for about 3 minutes before the end of the interview. Naisip ko tuloy na mababa yata …

From the facebook wall of Sylvia Morningstar, copy-pasted by Robert Young, Jr.
Everyone in the media knows Lito Banayo’s in Erap’s team. And we note that he and his teammate Dacky Paredes have been attacking Villar consistently. Sometimes I wonder just how much patience everyone has for this billiard game – You hit the cue ball: Villar. All the other colored balls that move in chain reaction from the cue ball either fall into a target basket OR go rolling to some other direction. That takes patience and steady nerve. How …

I know I should have posted this a long time ago (well, thanks to some busyness there…argh >.<) But with the turn of events in Maguindanao: the lifting of the martial law, the rebellion charges while in fact it should be mass murder (genocide perhaps) to those bastards who ruled that place like facking Sith Lords (they made Darth Vader, Darth Maul and Emperor Palpatine looked tame and lame) and all the non-sense, unfruitful investigation pep talk …
