Dick Gordon Dances His Way to Viral Marketing

23 March 2010 44 Comments

Politicians spending BILLIONS of pesos for their campaign should learn from Senator Richard Gordon. The video above is currently circulating in the internet with Bagumbayan’s Presidential candidate dancing with YouTube sensations MOMOY PALABOY to the tune of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.

Admit it, the sea of garbage, pedicab, and rap gimmicks are no match to this hilarious video.  This video could have been perfect if they’ve included Gordon and Bayani’s platforms though. I’m excited to see the “continuation” of this… :D

Silly but definitely hilarious! A unique way of getting someone to pay attention. This is definitely an ad that I would not tune out from. Humor and sound are perfect combination in advertising. This ad however failed to deliver a message at this time but that could be taken cared of next. Get the attention of the viewers first. Thanks for posting!

  • BURAOT says:

It’s an excellent idea by the Gordon camp. With all due respect, kahit you all know I’m not for Gordon, this move is a sure winner.

    O hayan Kutz, objective yan.

    • Kutz says:

Get over it, man…gheez! Don’t take it personally. And we’re just looking at an ad here, there’s not even a political message yet.

Whoever is the brain behind this ad is just brilliant. This is the first time I heard or saw this duo moymoy palaboy. They are hilarious especially the one on the right that does the falsetto, LMFAO!

      • BURAOT says:

haya ka na naman Kutz. ikaw ang get over it. I was just commenting on the ad and in fact I liked it. ano bah?

dami mo na agad sinabi, susmiyo.

        move on pls.

  • sherwin says:

That’s my president! Sincere, smart, great track record, excellent leader, cool and has a great sense of humor. :)

for a moment there I thought it was the Villar campaign strategy

  • Comparing this to the other presidential candidates who spend gazillions on their television ads, Gordon comes up with a winner viral campaign.

This is definitely a smart and practical move and I can’t wait to see more.

  • reynz says:

Pero teka lang, i checked the views = 19,819 views, bago lang ba to?

    • That’s why they posted it on Moymoy Palaboy’s channel which has 120,000 plus subscribers. Brilliant idea, I hope they follow it up with something on their platform.

    • Kutz says:

Kahapon lang, March 21. Nasa 20,473 na kanina when I checked. I hope this ad will catapult itself sa internet and mapik-ap ng TV. This team could really use more TV exposure, kawawa naman eh, LOL!

  • Mel says:

Hahaha

Somebody should get Vice Ganda. He has 1 million Facebook followers already.

Matawagan nga si Atcheng Jamby at baka maunahan. Hahaha

  • Johnonymous says:

    • Peach says:

John, wala to budget dahil Moymoy Palaboy is already a Gordon Bayani fan eversince even before this vid came out…please check out http://www.facebook.com/votegordon?ref=ts#!/votegordon?ref=nf

this should help you arrive at a wise decision this May that will Make or continue to Break the future of the Philippines.. The word trapo doesnt apply to Gordon…please do your research first..

      • Johnonymous says:

Peach, I will not vote for Gordon, I made up my mind… Nick Perlas ako kahit talo siya, what matters to me is I voted for a guy without any doubts… at least for me…

Gordons are trapos. Trapos includes political dynasties. Are you telling me he has no lust for fame. Ask people from Olongapo about the Gordonized entities… research ka diyan.

  • sumi says:

Kung gusto may paraan, kung ayaw may dahilan.

Despite limited financial resources, Sen. Dick Gordon manages to catch people’s attention. I would love to have a leader who does not rely solely on money but can be creative (and effective at that) to get things done. Gordon and Bayani for 2010!

  • Sony V. says:

Yey!! My fave moymoypalaboy for GORDON! Yes!! And they’re doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. Bless them. =)

  • Jet says:

@Johnonymous… atleast Gordon has achievements and is not afraid to attribute a name to it….. ang iba dyan hiding as John Doe or in anonymity…. who btw is your candidate?

    • Johnonymous says:

Jet, my candidate is Nick Perlas kahit kulelat… If he lose, I hope he would somehow get a position in the cabinet. He has his achievement too and he wanted it to impart his achievements when he gets in position. His agenda defines a clear difference among others.

BTW, it’s not ethical to put one’s name or any personal branding of sorts in a project funded by tax payers. Ang tawag doon pagiging gahaman ng pulitiko… But I agree Gordon is a man of results too, I just hope he would look into unethical things… like those Gordonized places in gapo.

Kaya sabi ko he’s better to be in a cabinet position again, kasi mas focused ang tungkulin.

      • BURAOT says:

good point Johnonymous. uy dalawa pala tayong Perlas dito. heheh. san ka ba sa gapo?

      • kutz says:

So are you saying that the Aquinos are unethical too? How about we start with renaming Manila International Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport? BS Aquino High School, Aquino building in baguio and PLM… are they unethical too?

Sa Capiz damo gid tu Roxas establishment. And then the Diosdado Macapagal port is next. Jess Lapus Memorial Sports Complex will follow. Then let’s change Marcos highway, Marcos State Universities, Marcos bridges, Magsaysay highways, etc. Tomas Joson Hospital and other Tomas JOson buildings and facilities in Nueva Ecija; Angela Valdez Ramos National High School, Ramos Sports Complex and other Ramos institutions in Pangasinan; Ampatuan Hospitals, schools, and towns.

Buong Pilipinas unethical, weeeee! If we bash one candidate for doing that, let’s do the same thing for everybody. Let’s hold everybody to the same standards, bzing~!

        • BURAOT says:

jusko, eto na naman tayo. nag break lang sandali. nag note na nga ako ng positive sa Gordon side eh, so we could break the ice. hayyy.

but since you asked, yes, let’s call an apple an apple.

it is unethical. however, it may not be unethical if the said item in question had significant and valid reasons (like say if the name has historical significance).

but then again, you get the point naman Kutz.

and you are right, we need to hold everybody to the same standards, which is better for us all don’t you think?

        • johnonymous says:

          Hello Kutz,

It is never wrong to feel disappointed on those branding done by politicians, we all know that it has a one-sided result, unfortunately it’s not in our favor… Would you allow your tax money to be used and create and to include a politician’s brand? Or would you be happy that your politician will give you a detailed journal on how your tax money work?

How do you describe, in general, your ideal public servant?

There is a town in Sultan Kudarat named after Ninoy, but this was named after his death to remind people on how he was instrumental in the new era of Philippine democracy, he got a special place in our national history. This one is a good example of using a politician’s name as namesake.

Pero kung yung mga buhay pa at aktibo sa serbisyo at bigla nilang pangalanan ang isang establishment under their own name like Vilma Santos-Recto Type Building sa mga public schools ng Lipa or Mandanas Building sa loob ng Batangas Port. That is something else.

Things have to look appropriate even to the smallest element. If we are in the pursuit of a fair and balanced society. Tax paying people should feel that they share or own a project that they contributed for. This is how a politician acknowledge achievement, this is how a politician empower a society. Raise their morals and potentials to give back more to the community they belong.

People don’t feel proud of themselves kung may trapo. Truly, this is a difficult issue and a sad truth.

We all can vouch for this sentence.

  • JUGGy says:

Hmmm..Ok tong idea na to ah, kaya lang baka hanggang internet lang to or kung ma-TV man eh GMA 7 lang. If I’m not mistaken, Moymoy Palaboy are under contract with GMA 7, kaya malamang di maipalabas sa ibang network to. Sayang

  • kotsengkuba says:

in fairness, nakakadiri lang. sobrang trying hard. hahaha

  • Goyo boy says:

Kudos to Moymoy Palaboy & Dick Gordon….

  • BURAOT says:

Barrio Siete is indeed a melting pot di ba?

    • Jet says:

Buraot…i admire your choice of Perlas. With all objectivity, Perlas has the most comprehensive platform of government amongst all presidentiables. My only concern is how will he translate these good ideas and plans to politicians and to the publics in general. You need to be a skilled politician and effective communicator to deliver this.

      Go GORDON pa rin :)

      • BURAOT says:

and i admire you guys as well Jet for your passion in your support of Gordon. our country needs passionate people. to be honest, if not for the reason that I knew it first-hand by living in Olongapo, I would have go for Gordon myself.

but i think the main issue at this election is the “in your face” corruption of GMA. that’s why people tend to go for Noynoy. again, this is just my opinion.

whoever we vote to sit in Malacanang does not really matter. problems are the same and the issues would always be the same. we need change the system, not the person who would be the hed of that same system.

but my conscience tells me to go for Perlas because of his background and his platform.

  • reynz says:

hahaha! One FB friend sent me that stats nung mga Filipinos online. This is actually a brilliant idea, kung nakuha to ni Gordon early on baka sumabog ang name nya all over and beat out the front runners. He could have used the very same strategy in delivering his message instead na yong nilunod tayo nang basura ni Villar. I bet you, kung sino man ang nag-isip nito, ang galing nya! Haha! Although – Gordon needs to practice dancing. HAHAHA!

  • Anna says:

Are the young men his sons? They all look alike. :-)

Was that a campaign video? Reminds me of Zimbabwean campaign vid.

  • fzaq00 says:

why didnt he used girls instead of moymoypalaboy. mas catchy yun =p

  • Bryan says:

it is hilarious, isn’t it!!! he is so cool!!

i think, this site is a supporter of yellow army..i have to say…

  • Bryan says:

    pero walang villar..hahaha…Aquino don’t deserve it…

  • Me says:

I watched Votebook of GMA7 for Sen. Gordon this evening and I’m impressed with his modest lifestyle and clean asset and liability declaration. You are indeed the right president for me…God Bless Sir!
