Eklat and her favourite fruits

25 April 2010 29 Comments

Hello my gorgeous gay fans and to the men and women of this country.

How is your summer? Well, if you ask me, it’s not doing so good. I was supposed to be in Santorini enjoying the Greek sun but my Yaya Indira is still stuck in London so nobody can accompany me there. I decided to stay here na lang in the third world and make the most out of the summer.

Anyway, I’m here in Cebu right now and the heat is super duper making me gorgeously tan while enjoying the tropical and not so tropical fruits of this posh hotel resort I’m staying. And since I have nothing else to do here, let me enumerate and discuss these delicious fruits that is currently in front of me.

Let’s start with the yellow Mango.

The lowly mangga is so good when it’s ripe and yellow. The Philippines particularly the island of Guimaras produces the sweetest variety that I know. Kaya lang the mangga is so maasim when it’s not yet ripe and hinog sa pilit noh? It makes your face distorted. Would you settle for an alanganin mangga or would you want to wait the perfect time for it to be hinog and right for picking and eating? Well, I prefer it to be perfectly ripe and yellow because I wouldn’t settle for anything alanganin.

The Avocado.

You know I don’t really like the avocados that is in my plate right now because the green colour makes it weird looking and inedible. Parang I’m having doubts to eat it although it’s presented in a very promising way but it might not be delicious after all. I think I might pass on the avocado and wait for Yaya to taste it for me na lang. Mahirap nang mapasubo and then spit it out because it’s kadiri.

How about this red Apple.

So inviting noh? You know the best red apples I’ve tasted are those I ate at this posh hotel in Olongapo when my mother, the congresswoman brought me with her during a social event. They’re very sweet talaga but after a while it’s not so good na rin kasi it spoils very quickly and the apple slices can turn dark in a few seconds when it’s not consumed after it was served. My mom told me that apples are difficult to grow, like it should always adapt to its environment. The weather and condition must always be in favour of the apple or else, it won’t bear any fruit.

The Lemon.

Well I think the lemon is not supposed to be eaten solely ‘di ba? It’s so maasim kaya most of the time. I’ve never heard of a sweet lemon, have you? Because if you do, please tell me. Anyway, it’s kinda odd to see this lemon in my plate huh. I think it doesn’t go together with the rest of the fruits kasi. Everything else can be eaten immediately as dessert but the lemon should probably be in a different serving. Perhaps later with salt and a bottle of tequila?

The dreaded Orange.

I. don’t. like. orange.

Its itsura is unpretty and it looks so inedible talaga for me. They say it’s rich daw in Vitamin C but hello, it’s not scientifically proven to cure common colds noh. Like its pretending to be good for your body but the truth is, it’s actually not that healthy compared to other fruits. Well, there are other varietes of orange naman that is in the same citrus family but quite different in terms of appearance but it’s still orange, like the next one.

The other orange, Dalandan.

What’s the exact english term for dalandan nga ba? Dalandan is orange in english right? But here it’s actually another fruit but the taste is similar to that of the orange. Although I like the dalandan soda available at the groceries but the fruit itself is not that good for me. It’s like saying the same old promise of good taste over and over again but in reality, it’s like the orange pa rin pretending to be healthy but not really.

Oh well. My time is up. I have a spa appointment.

There are other fruits in the buffet table but I have no time to discuss them although they look delicious and promising but honestly I find them quite irrelevant. I guess I’m gonna have to pass the burden of eating these fruits to you my dear readers. Which one is your favourite?

Tell me.

XOXO,
Eklat
