Eklat and the Philippine National Circus
Hello, hello! Guess who’s back to join the circus?
First of all, I’d like to apologize for not making sulat any contribution last month. You see, I just got back from the ‘happy place’ after suffering a massive breakdown due to my involvement in that infamous golf player scandal. Yes, yours truly was also a kasalo, and I was slut #19. (insert Krista Ranillo laugh here). Anyway, I’m okay now and Yaya Indira (a.k.a. slut #20) is doing great too. Today is the official start of the circus commonly known to us as the election campaign period but it actually started last year. Whatever happened to the electoral laws of this country. Last night at the nail spa, Yaya Indira (whose nails are painted midnight blue) was surfing the internet when she read an article about the so-called yellow bullies supposedly making sulat and doing tambay here in Barrio Siete. Yaya was so appalled by this because as a regular contributor here, I am being labeled as one too. I find it offensive. I never liked yellow even if it’s a couture dress by John Galliano but calling me as someone who has Hepatitis K is so not fierce. First of all, I am not a fan of Noynoy Aquino like some of the writers and readers here. Not everyone who reads and hangouts in the barrio is inflicted with the yellow fever as well. There are political bullies everywhere in the net. Benigno, Ben Kritz, BongV and all their trolls bullied someone here in the Barrio. If you happen to visit Pinoy Exchange, a lot of bullies there wear green and based from the forum spreads, they are nasty (and sometimes stupid too!). In some Facebook fanpages, you’ll see bullies in different colours. Green, red, white, orange, pink and yes, even yellow. So why the hatred on the people who likes yellow? Who’s terrorizing who? Are you being terrorized or perhaps you’re just suffering from xantophobia. Well, the question is, are you in someone else’s payroll too? Anyway, I’ll make kwento na lang about what’s happening in our country and what are my thoughts on them. I thought fashion is fun and show business is funner but Philippine politics is the best form of entertainment. This morning during breakfast, my mom (the congresswoman running for senator, please vote for her) and my aunt was talking about the recent turn of events in the political world and I can’t help but eavesdrop on their chika. Now that the news of the supposed X-deal of Mike Arroyo and presidentiable Manny Villar is out, what would happen to Gibo Teodoro? First, it was his Uncle Danding who hated him to hell and now his boss a.k.a. the mole dressed as a president is actually making future plans without him. Poor Gibo. Junked after poor survey results. Have you seen the PDI debate? My gosh, if Sen. Manny Villar’s thoughts could kill, Senators Jamby and Dick Gordon died on the spot in the middle of the debate. I liked how Sen. Jamby Madrigal a.k.a. the bitter pamangkin who contested her aunt’s will, hurled statements and criticisms against Villar, which eventually back fired at her after being asked if she knew how much the price of a kilo of galunggong is. She is so funny talaga. For your information, Sen. Jamby was just asked by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile to buy them lunch at the kanto and when she came back, she decided to run for president. (insert Gretchen Barretto laugh here) I must agree on Sen. Jamby’s point on Villar using the poor gusgusin children and the mahirap concept in his political ad. It’s not Jamby or Noynoy’s fault if they were born rich and just because they were never keen in swimming sa dagat ng basura and celebrating Christmas sa gitna ng kalsada do not make them less concerned to the plight of the poor. For the record, swimming in basura is so disgusting. Why not ask Cynthia and Camille. I bet they won’t even dare. (insert Kris Aquino laugh here) Meanwhile, Sen. Noynoy Aquino is consistently dropping in the surveys by Pulse Asia and SWS while his partner Mar is doing good. I’m sure Miss Korina is super half-happy (half-happy because she still prefers to be first lady rather than just a wife of a vice president). For me ha, I think it’s because of the fact that they made Noynoy rap in his political ad. It’s very horrible. Bring Regine and that Hindi Ka Nag-Iisa ad back. In fairness naman, that Hindi Ako Magnanakaw is effective and strong. I wonder if Manny Villar, Erap Estrada and Gloria Arroyo can even utter those words without crossing their fingers behind their backs. If you happen to be in one of their campaign rallies, dare them to say those words and I’m sure lightning and thunder is sure to follow. Before continuing, I’d like to make it clear that I won’t be talking much on the other candidates because it’s either I have nothing against them and I find their platforms realistic and intelligently done, I don’t know and have not heard of them before, or I have nothing nice to say about them and they bore me. Okay, let’s continue. What about colour-coding? Each presidentiable has chosen an official colour and I find it interesting to discuss. Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Bro. Eddie Villanueva chose yellow. For Noynoy, it was the colour that symbolizes her mother. For Bro. Eddie, it looked nice on his skintone. Former president and convicted plunderer Erap Estrada chose orange. It was based on his feng shui daw and it’ll bring luck to him. I just wondered if it’s true since he did not finished his first term, he could’ve used a different shade. Fuchsia would have been better. Sen. Manny Villar also used orange. Well, the orange fruit is from the citrus family and we all know it’s rich in a particular vitamin. Vitamin C5. Sen. Dick Gordon on the other hand is loving the red. The hardworking senator is also the Chairman of the Philippine National Red Cross. If critics would say that he’s using the Red Cross for his supposed political campaigns, his reply would be easy: “Anong nangangampanya? Eh trabaho ko ito as Red Cross chairman. Nagkataon lang na pula din ang Red Cross at pula rin ang kulay na ginagamit ko sa pagkandidato!” Yeah right. Living up to his name. Lastly, Sec. Gibo Teodoro made green his official colour. Green is the colour of nature and the colour of envy as well so it’s not surprising at all when his survey points went down, his party’s Mother Nature was envious of someone else’s figures and took matters in her own hands. She decided to ditch her official candidate and negotiated with the Vitamin C5 guy. Ouch. Oh well, that’s it for now. I’m gonna make bisita an actress friend who I heard is running for councilor in her district and she was reportedly grilled by a leprechaun in a tv interview. She needs my help. Desperately.

P.S. If you’re wondering who am I rooting for this coming elections, I still don’t know. Seriously. But my closet looked better with clothes in a sunny palette.

Mel is is the ‘gurl’ behind “The Misadventures of Mel Beckham”. ‘She’ graduated with a double major in Management and Entrepreneurship. ‘She’ grew up in the city but now lives in the bukid near barrio siete juggling work as a farm manager, office secretary, messenger, construction worker, housemaid, make-up artist and babysitter. I love this! I read that blog abt yellow bullies- not so nice nga. Why focus on just one color? And what’s their basis of telling you will be bullied in the barrio if you are not maka-yellow? Eh di ba malinaw na sinabi Ng Reyna nung mag-announce sa kaVila na they won’t support any presidentiable, “care ko?!?”.
Only noynoy can look you in the eye and mean it when he says “Hindi ako magnanakaw!”
Oo nga. Nag email pa kuno that they won’t be supporting any candidate eh malinaw pa sa sikat ng araw kung sino ang sinusuportahan at sino ang kinakalaban. Hindi pa nga nadudumihan ang kamay eh naghuhugas na. Gosh! Etchoserang palaka. Hahaha

well, that site is still keeping their promise about not endorsing any presidentiable…they just forgot to add that although they won’t give their explicit support, that doesn’t mean they won’t malign anyone or one presidentiable in particular.
i have visited sites put up by supporters of different presidentiables so i know that all groups are guilty of bullying those who oppose them.
You’re right Sykes. Nobody can claim innocence. Lahat guilty kaya huwag sanang maghugas kamay at huwag maglagay ng disclaimer. Obvious naman na ayaw niya sa mga may ‘hepa’ kasi singled-out ang pangchachaka niya sa mga ito.
