El Nido, World’s Number 1!

29 October 2009 30 Comments

Haha, parang gatas lang, di ba lol.

I had the chance to visit Palawan earlier this month and I’ve nothing but admiration and envy. The streets are very clean, and the Palawenos are conscious about their role in protecting the environment. It’s nothing like Manila.

Today, I will tell you about El Nido – one of the bonggang-bonggang tourist destinations in Palawan, which was chosen as one of the best travel destinations in the world by the National Geographic Traveler’s magazine (November-December 2007 issue).

The 6-8 hour drive to El Nido (from Puerto Princesa City) was all worth it. It is a first class municipality and marine reserve park located in the northern part of mainland Palawan bordered by the Sulu Sea and the South China Sea. It is composed of 45 islands and islets.

It has lots of things to offer you – from cliff climbing and trekking to snorkeling and kayaking to island hopping and diving to cave exploring and even windsurfing. We had a whole day trip of island hopping and snorkeling, dahil yun lang ang kaya ng powers namin. First stop is the…

Miniloc Island

To the last frontier!
If you want a reliable and efficient boat guide, hire nyo si kuya, I have his contact number.

The serene turquoise-green waters and limestone walls are awesome.

They featured this lagoon on Living Asia channel. Super ganda sa TV and it’s even more beautiful in real life.

Amazing rock formations.

and super duper crystal clear water.

Heading to the enchanting lagoon.

Kayaking

Amazing rocks/cliffs.

Truly a must-see spot here in Pinas.

El Nido’s natural beauty is awe-inspiring.

Snake Island

Obviously, it’s called Snake Island because of the s-shaped sandbar, and that’s only visible on low tides.

Pix taken from a hill/cliff whatever.

Beautiful.

Cone Island

Truth is, I don’t what they call this place basta it’s somewhere in El Nido. Let’s just call it Cone Island, for lack of better term to use haha.

To say that it’s a paradise is an understatement.

Oh yes, that’s my best jumpshot, so far.

Another perfect spot for photoshoot…

and more photoshoot with powdery white sand.

A haven for tourists who want to get a tan.

Our country is blessed with many extraordinary natural sceneries.

We have the best beaches in the world, truly world class diving sites

and many other unexplored adventure destinations.

7 Commando Beach

This is the last stop of our islandhopping adventure. Why it’s called 7 Commando, I don’t know.

They offer fresh buko for 20P.

I enjoyed its serenity. Perfect for meditation and….

….of course, photoshoot haha.

Make sure you visit El Nido when you have time and $$$. It is pure bliss. Warm hearts to welcome you, scenic spots to feed your soul and yummy foods to satisfy your palate. Indeed it’s the world’s number 1! Biased ba? HAHA

malensky is is a true blooded Waray-waray from a certain barrio in the Eastern Visayas region. She graduated without honors in Engineering at some University along the Pasig river. A real life opportunist, self-proclaimed artist and street-smart babe who frequents the parlor, making friends with parloristas to get free highlites lol. She works in QC with slightly above minimum wage and plans to further her studies in Ricky Reyes Learning Institute so she could try a career out of haircutting, with manicure and pedicure.

yey! danda talaga….pwede ba kamo tourist? walang abu sayaf?

  • dFish says:

Been to Palawan underground river but not el nido. Really beautiful Malen. Parang gusto kong mamuhay doon ng mapayapa (hindi tuluyan ha Undas pa naman). Ano kaya job opportunities doon maliban sa turismo?

    • Monique says:

Yun ang mahirap sa Palawan dfish. Tourism is the only thing that nakakasustain sa kanila. dapat meron ka talagang specific market.
been there for a company i worked with. ok lang kung established ka na. pero other than that… R & R is the way to go sa PPS.

      • malensky says:

        @dfish, fishing siguro hehe.

sa narinig ko, soon to rise, call center daw haha.

the thing is wala ni isang factory dun. ayaw ni Hagedorn. Pati mga establishments…hanggang 4th floor lang din.

on some areas, walang kuryente from 6AM to afternoon. they also promote the use of solar energy. i guess they want to preserve as much as possible the pristine nature of Palawan.

@monique, yeah, eco tourism is what keeps them going.

naka me kebigan ako who decided to stay put sa puerto princesa at nilayasan ang manila. since then, parati kaming ini-engganyong lumipat dyan. kaso pagkagabi puro kulig kulig naririnig ko hehehe

          • malensky says:

            lol @ kulig-kulig

buti na lang kamo at morning til afternoon ang brownout. ayoko na kase makakita ng petromax hahaha

at hinde na ako sanay ng walang electric fan sa gabi hahahaha

        • dFish says:

Hahahaha – i luv fishing, even night fishing, especially night fishing hehehe. Joke lang…I like Hagedorn – iron hand at personally reformed ang dating talaga bilang dating illegal logger. His credibility is quite high…

          • malensky says:

@dfish, Palawan = Hagedorn diba. I like that guy.

He is well loved in Palawan talaga. We got there nun bday nya and parang lahat ng bahay sa Puerto Princesa may banner ng HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYOR. Also, nakita namin sya dun na nag vi-videoke haha. He seems to be a nice guy

  • Nice! El Nido is definitely one of the most beautiful places here in the Philippines. Mga magkano rough estimate ng package?

Anyway, sana sa susunod Amanpulo naman yung i-post mong pictures. Hehe… :)

    • malensky says:

P7500++ – Puerto Princesa and El Nido tour. Hotel, bfast and van included. airfare – 1600 only, through PAL.

Not bad, kase yun isang travel agency offered us 14K, same package.

re amanpulo, yaan mo pag may package na tig-7000 pesos lang papunta amanpulo, gora ang ate mo. HAHAHA

for now, dahil $400 and airfare and 750$/day, WAG NA MUNA! lol

  • reynz says:

truly maganda talaga palawan. been there up to like Roxas City, by jeep noon, lecheng layo hahaha

    • malensky says:

‘day, the road to Puerto Princesa going to El Nido is chaotic. kanda bakli-bakli ang likod ko

      • reynz says:

saan ba galing? sa puerto princesa? you mean, hindi pa ayos ang daan? noon kasi, lubak lubak sya yong iba aspaltado the rest is earth hahaha eh linsyak umuulan pa naman noon when we went to roxas, dinadaanan sya papuntang el nido

        • malensky says:

yeah, nadaanan nga namin yun roxas. trulili ‘day. earth talaga. parang clay pa nge eh haha. reminds me of the long and winding talahib highway. i hope they do something about it..para mas maging accessible ang EL Nido.

also, many parts of Palawan eh wala pa din kuryente

  • Monique says:

Ilang beses ako napadpad sa Palawan pero never nakapunta sa el nido :( sad.
Try Dos Palmas too. ;) Uber ganda din. :)

  • delta says:

wah.. how i wish makapunta din ako dun.. never been to southern part.. haisst..
