I’m sure, it was Jepoy who texted me. “R.I.P. Corazon Aquino”. I was in the middle of a meeting. I knew exactly how I felt. I knew this was coming. But it felt like I lost a mother, because this was exactly the feeling when I received the news when my mother passed away several years ago. I’m praying for Cory. But I don’t know if I could thank her enough for what she has given us. Rest in peace, President Cory Aquino.
“Former President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino has passed away. She was 76. Her son Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III confirmed that she died of cardio respiratory arrest at exactly 3:18 a.m. Saturday at the Makati Medical Center. Mrs. Aquino has been diagnosed with colon cancer early in 2008 and has been confined at the Makati Medical Center for more than a month. Mrs. Aquino, widow of Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., will be remembered as an icon of democracy, having led a military-backed popular revolt in 1986 that ousted a dictator who ruled the country for 20 years.”

Tawa kasi ako ng tawa kagabi, lungkot pala ang kapalit. Hindi ko mapigil ang umiyak, ewan hindi naman kami close. Siguro Tita Cory really touched our hearts. Hindi muna ako makikipag-away, mang-aaway, or mang-aalaska as a sign of respect.

I am very sad right now. I remember the time when she was proclaimed to the world as the president. I was then proud to be a Filipino and was very hopeful for our country. I hope GMA will see that to earn the respect and love of the Filipinos, she just has to do the right thing and rise above all the petty politics and give us a chance to have another president who will have the best interests of Filipinos at heart. RIP Tita Cory.
