Is there something for which Arroyo should be held accountable? How?
If winning the Presidency will have to be based on debates, I’d say, Gibo wins it hands down. In the past debates and forums, he’s always been prepared, well-spoken and knows what he’s talking about. I’ve always admired Gibo in terms of his credentials. But see, he’s got a baggage I don’t like. And at the Presidential Forum in DLSU, he was toasted, grilled and barbecued. Not his day. Here’s what I gathered from the news: (GMA News) and Inquirer)
Failon asked:
“Is there something for which President Arroyo should be held accountable? How should she be made accountable?”
Gibo:
“Just think about it, if I participate (in efforts to prosecute her), people would say ‘lulutuin mo lang’ (you’ll just fix it.) If I don’t participate, people would say I did not work for justice,” said Teodoro, who resigned as defense secretary to run in the May elections.
“In the end, anyone with reason to file a case against her should just do it. I should not interfere,” he added.
“If I say ‘yes,’ I might be accused of riding on the popular sentiment against a party mate and former boss in the Cabinet. If I say ‘no,’ I would be depriving myself of the objectivity I need as President,” he replied. Cheers erupted afterward.
Everyone of them were asked the same question. Including Jamby Madrigal who answered a resounding “Si, senor!”. Then Jamby turned to Gibo and asked:
Jamby: “If elected president, tatanaw ka ba ng utang na loob kay Arroyo o tatanaw ka lang ng utang na loob sa taumbayan?” Madrigal asked Teodoro.
(If elected president, will you acknowledge a debt of gratitude to Arroyo or only to the people?”
Gibo: “Utang na loob means paying goodness with goodness. But if it’s otherwise, nothing is worth staining my reputation,”
Jamby: “So, did the President shower you with goodness?”
Gibo: “If you are given goodness, you pay back with goodness,” he said.
Jamby: “But would you give justice to the victims of the administration? Or would you adhere to party loyalty?”
Gibo: “Justice should prevail. We have a judicial process and it should be observed.”
Failon cut the discussion at this point.
Aquino: The President should be made accountable for transgressions “because the people need closure. The issue here is transparency … Whoever is guilty should be punished. Besides, we’re talking here of a very long list.”
“Palagay ko po ang pinuno, dapat klaro ang mga posisyon sa lahat po ng issue… Sa katanungan kung meron bang kasalanan si Ginang Arroyo, dapat mayroon tayong paninindigan kung tama ba o mali. Ikaw ang magdidikta sa buong gobyerno kung uusigin ba o hindi,” Aquino said in an ANC Forum in Pasay City.
(A leader should have clear positions on all issues. A leader should have a stand on whether President Arroyo has done wrong or not, because he or she will dictate on the whole government whether to prosecute or not.)
“Kailangan may katiyakan sa kaparusahan. Kung tayo po ay hindi mamamansin dito sa mga walang closure e para nating sinabi na ituloy natin itong sistemang mali,” he added.
(There should be certainty of punishment. If we neglect these issues without any closure, it’s like saying we should continue this crooked system.)
Gibo:
“Sa katayuan ko, hindi naman siguro tama na sumagot ako kung tama o hindi. Kapartido ko ang ating pangulo,” Teodoro said.
(Given my situation, I would think it would be improper if I answer Yes or No. After all, the President is my partymate.)
“Kung magparticipate ako sa paghahabla, sasabihin: ‘Bakit ka nagpaparticipate? Baka lutuin mo lang ‘yung kaso.’ Kapag hindi naman, sasabihin hindi mo gagawin ang katungkulan mo,” he added.
(If I participate in her prosecution, people will say, ‘Why do you participate? You probably want to rig the case.’ But if I inhibit, they will say I’m not doing my duty.)
Perlas: Ms Arroyo’s “multitude of sins caused us so much shame as a country,” and should thus be made to face the consequences. I would activate a different kind of people power to make this happen,” he elaborated.
Jamby: “Hello Garci” scandal was already enough proof that Ms Arroyo was willing to steal the people’s mandate to preserve her power.
“It was worse than plunder. Plus the human rights violations, the extrajudicial killings! The Maguindanao massacre! I would fire the defense secretary then.”
Villanueva: Collective wisdom” had already labeled Ms Arroyo the worst president. We suffer from gross misgovernance. The budget intended for education, health and livelihood went somewhere else. Once I become President, I will overhaul the Commission on Audit and the Office of the Ombudsman because what we need now is absolute transparency,” he said.
Villar: “There are courts and if there are cases filed, I will not lift a finger to defend President Arroyo from any charges filed against her,” he said.
Gordon: “With the country having many problems, I would submit the blue ribbon findings to the Department of Justice (DOJ), give it one year to make recommendations and let the axe fall where it may,” Gordon said.
Moi?! I want to see all corrupt government officials pati kanunu-nu-nuan nila dance to the music of Michael Jackson in orange suits.

please remember Gibo is lasalista..
(gang rape)
Sure he is Lasalista but he stood his ground. And DLSU has nothing to do with his ties to GMA.
I agree with Reynz. Gibo’s blessing is his greatest curse at the same time. He is blessed to be nominated by the ruling party kasi nasa kanya na ang mga makinarya, pera, and all other resources needed to run a nationwide campaign. Pero his ties to GMA will always be at the mind of the voters and as far as his opponents, it is the best issue to hurl against him.
Jamby as usual is grandstanding.
Si Noynoy, with all his sincerest intentions and clean records, wala talagang dating eh.
Si Gordon ang matitira by process of elimination, HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Dear sir,
i find the answer of Gibo and most of the presidentials as some sort of saving oneself or trying to portray a man of wisdom rather than answering it or giving a clear cut solution to PGMA mismanagement and corruptio.
The people are just asking fair justice to what PGMA did to our country and yet I find their answer as a politician and not as poor man. Gibo’s answer may illicit presiential wisdom but not the cry of the poor who hungry, sick and killed from abused and summary execution. I hope they can sleep with their conscience. The whole proceed did not touch the Philippine societys base or masa.
Gibo is being weighed down by his association with the evil midget. Of course his enemies will use that to their advantage.
I agree with Martin Francisco. These presidentiables are just paying lip service. I do not believe that they will truly let justice prevail against Gloria. Tandaan, ang mga yan ay mga magkakamag-anak.
I guess not all of them Ismael. I do believe that the rightful winner of the presidential race this may 2010 will certainly run after gloria.
Sino kaya manok mo Snow?
Well, I hope so.
“Just think about it, if I participate (in efforts to prosecute her), people would say ‘lulutuin mo lang’ (you’ll just fix it.) If I don’t participate, people would say I did not work for justice,” said Teodoro, who resigned as defense secretary to run in the May elections.
Hahahah! The dimwit has tacitly recognised that his boss should be prosecuted!
Ain’t he just becomming dimmer and dimmer?
