It’s gettin’ nasty out in Pinoy election blogosphere

Thinking of being a blogger? Touch political topics? Show your political color?

Be warned in the jungle. It’s Jurassic Park in Pinoy blogosphere, with dark characters roaming the grounds run by dark societies. I am by no means discouraging you to be a blogger, but consider my short movie presentation…

Reyna Elena has another stalker fan who follows me around. First, he blogged about my delicious affair with an emperor.

Angry with my presidential choice, he turned me into a pig. A freak one. How did I know? He was very nice to remind me through an email he sent me.

He doesn’t want me to miss the pig entry.

Then he pronounced me dead.

Anak siguro to ni Madam Auring, he reincarnated me as a monkey. You see, of all the buzz on the internet, his blog has zero buzz.

Then, my Facebook email lit up again… an email from hell:

demonyo

Together with Brian Gorrel and Eric , they all blogged that I am paedophile, an illegal immigrant living off of food stamps, and a fugly fat faggot. I’m hell scared they’d start blogging that I’m a straight guy! If that happens, kakapunin ko ang mga to!

These are the risks and perils of blogging and its ugly realities, most especially during election time. Once you start to blog, expect to earn some scorn, contempt and hatred if your views and opinions are not parallel with theirs and/or you don’t join their rah-rah team. They’ll dig up your pictures, credentials, family and all, fabricate lies, soon after online vilification begins.

There is no way of stopping these people. Pure internet bullying. We get that here in B7 all the time and I believe, no one can beat Reyna Elena with the longest and ugliest title of all on Pinoy blogosphere. In fact, I believe there was one blogger who commented to the effect that he will do everything to make sure that Barrio Siete disappears. He will have to wait for another year. I just renewed the hosting fee and moved B7 to a dedicated and high speed server to accommodate haters and hecklers.

I remember when I investigated this alleged Tierra Maria hoax thinking that there was a real estate scam, only to find out that this UK guy concocted a hoax story. I blasted the bloody hell out of this guy. Result? He not only opened dozens of blogs, but also spammed the entire cyberspace about me and several other bloggers with our twisted face and every diatribe and available ridiculous mal adjectives available on mirriam’s dictionary plus more. Did he stop? No. To this day he is still blogging about us.

And then there’s the Anti-Pinoy group who routinely calls Cory Aquino a “bitch”. “Democracy my ass!” they say which I can’t reconcile with their incessant complaining about why I blocked them on B7.

Surprisingly though, online, there is an anti pinoy blogger who has a completely different persona. But offline, there is actually something commendable and honorable with what this blogger is doing, at least on its face and based on what I read from all the links. How do I know? He sent me information on what he does. And get this, when I was working in New Orleans, I had the chance to speak with him over the phone and I told him that his activities in the Philippines were truly commendable. I was even thinking of pitching in.

Then, election came.

Worse, I showed my true color.

Reyna Elena is not the only victim of this all-out online vilification campaign. I heard that they also routinely malign Manuel L. Quezon III. Their current flavor? Lila R. Shahani who they call a pretentious bitch, a moron and “Bombay”, a racist label. She’s now the one who is currently being demonized. Our common denominator? We’re all good looking people hehehe!

Truth to be told, and I have to congratulate these Anti-Pinoy guys for a job well done in terms of increasing readership. Regardless of the quality of their blog content and them educating or mis-informing the voting public (because quality becomes relative during election season, korak?), all of us in Pinoy blogosphere are filling the void that could not be read on the media, heared on the airwaves and see on TV and I’m sure, Anti Pinoy blog has made a tremendous contribution in that aspect.

But!

What I do know, even if this is not supported empirically, online vilification hardly converts undecided voters.

So! Courageous much?!

Keep blogging! Until it hurts!
