Jena Isle: What was the teacher’s role in the 2009 Emerging Influential Blog Awards by Janette Toral?

15 August 2009 76 Comments

You read it right. What was the teacher’s role, Jena Isle, in the 2009 Emerging Influential Blog Awards by Janette Toral?!

My entry today, focuses on Jena Isle and her role in the 2009 Emerging Influential Blog Awards by Janette Toral. I have reasons to believe that she holds the biggest key to the questionable sprouting of Chem Bloggers blogs in favor of Jedi Bloggers who “won” the awards. Jena Isle claims that she is a teacher and we believe she is. Her blog or most of her other blogs tells us about it. With proper clicks, you will find what school in the Philippines she teaches.

Donc! Voici mon questiones pour mademoiselle!

QUESTION NUMBER 1:

  • It was confirmed to me by the school that the enrollment at the college of this university started in May 2009. Classes did not begin sometime in June 11 of 2009 – therefore, there was no face to face contact yet with the students up until that date. So, why drag the students into this EIB? And how in the world could these students have posted their Hello World in May 2009?! As in, Haller?! I don’t even have to ask. My undergrad was in the Philippines.

One of Cat’s question was: How could the students put up a blog when in May 2009, they were just busy enrolling at the university? You see, the latest date of their first “Hello World” entry would have been June 11, 2009. Therefore, it was possible that either the teacher or a member of the Jedi Bloggers started putting them up sometime in May 2009. It was also possible that they must have ante-dated these blogs to May 2009 to make it appear that they did not create this in July 2009 at the time when they rushed to vote. Refer to the captures of the blog’s first entry here.

QUESTION NUMBER 2:

  • A question raised by Bluepanjeet: Why are these blogs and the domain urls numbered? Refer to the entry here.

  • url_chembloggers

QUESTION NUMBER 3:

  • A question raised by Reyna Elena: The three entries posted by the students for the most part, were comprised of only three entries. First entry – Hello World; Second entry – either an entry copied from wikipedia or a video from somewhere; Third – Voting for the Jedi Bloggers. If you look closely at this picture from Bluepanjeet, this was an assignment by the teacher to the students in August 4, 2009.

    students_assignments_chem

Therefore, would it be safe to assume that the teacher made it an assignment of the students to vote in July 2009 to the Jedi Bloggers? What’s EIB got to do with Chemistry?! Even if it has, refer to Question number 1! Is it not that the teacher was usurping power over her students, to please her Jedi Blogger friends at the expense of these students?

QUESTION NUMBER 4:

  • We do have a lot of questions to the teacher, for now, my last question is – why would the teacher allow students to copy and/or plagiarize their entries?

  • chem-14-jimpie

We don’t plan to create a separate FAQ SHEET in the Barrio for we know what we saw and what we discovered and we have made several entries that will serve as FAQ SHEET.

I believe that Jena Isle has a lot of explaining to do. Otherwise, the next logical step is to ask the Dean of the College of the University to help and/or assist us in being enlightened.

It still amazes me that these personalities still managed to keep their silence when there are lots questions to be answered. I don’t blame them though. I blame it on the teacher. If she’s in her right mind, she wouldn’t use her power to gain something. Maybe Jena Isle wants to start a revolution or breakthrough noh? Nakakaloka!

    • reynz says:

We cancelled the block for that racist from Texas. She just visited. She’s on the sidebar. I captured the visit and it’s posted on the entry for her.

I think the teacher did a lot of magic with all the HELLO WORLD posted in May. WALA PANG ESTUDYANTE NOON! hahaha! Mga engkanto? They’re voting?! Panahon pa to ni Marcos!

  • Silver says:

Silence can mean that they are guilty.

    • reynz says:

Either that or they have to massage what we saw, unfortunately, na-capture naten.

      • Silver says:

So if they are upholding the values of the Jedi (aside from calling themselves as Jedi), then they should come forward and speak out about this matter.

Ano bang mawawala sa kanila if they offer an explanation about this. They could have done that. But they chose to be silent.

        • reynz says:

Conflicting ang values nang Jedi Bloggers that they’re promoting versus what they have done, especially yang si Jena Isle and Holly Jarangiri for throwing racial slurs at the other post.

    aba! naka-6 minutes pala si Z! hehe…

wow! ang galing naman ng mga reference ng mga phrases, you really your wards hehe…

where would we be without you Jen? ;)

thank you very much for the continued support!

    Isang issue:

    1. Ano ang relevance nito sa isang subject na more on laboratory setting?

Blogging?

    • reynz says:

that’s very true! in fact, nag-mayabang pa ang Jena na she could have herded all the incoming students with their blogs.

    • Silver says:

Supposedly, clinical chemistry must be practiced in a laboratory setting, hindi sa blogs.

Madam Cat, may isa pa akong sagot sa magiging outcome ng skill: copy pasting from wikipedia.

      • reynz says:

and this is the first time na nakarinig akong ginawang laboratory ang blogs.

      • Monique says:

Maam Silver and Maam Cat, baka mali ung course na pinasok nila. Baka naman Computer 101. Diba dun tinuturo yung basics?

Ways to Copy and paste, there is Ctrl C + Ctrl V, there is the via the mouse, right click choose Select all, then on the other blank blog, right click on the mouse again choose paste. hahaha… Meron pa yatang ctrl + insert eh, i am not sure… hahaha…

  • Irej says:

    • reynz says:

hindi Jeri. change must come from all of us. tayo ang kelangang mag-bago. we cannot ask the government to change their ways kung pati tong mga bloggers na to who can make a change eh are so damn proud of what they have done.

so for us or at least for me, ang consolation ko would be that the university will look into this issue at magsalita sila kung pahihintulutan nila ang titser na gumawa nang ganito.

      • Irej says:

Absolutely you are right kapitana.

I think right now Jena Isle is hiding and prefer not to talk about this issue, kasi she know na guilty siya eh.. could you imagine ang ginanawa nya? If this issue will have to bring to the attention of University management, perhaps she makes her put into trouble, and i believe no one from the university entire Philippines that would tolerate students to give more attention in blogging at gagamitin sila ng kahit sinong staff ng eskwelahan para sa sariling kapakanan. Lalo na sa nangyari, It is considered as sensational scandal, and hindi dapat maliitin ang issue na ito.
These ChemBloggers are involved here, they have their respective participation for EIB dahil malinaw pa sa sikat ng araw na iyon ang mismong Instruction ni Jena.

    1. provide
    * undergraduate and postgraduate medical education to qualified students, especially in Region III, who will form a pool that will provide the medical manpower needs of the region;
    * continuing medical education to update medical practitioners in the region on advances in medical science and practice;
    2. provide not only secondary and tertiary medical care services to the region but also, through its community extensions, primary medical care;
    3. contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and its effective delivery through research.
    .

I do not know where blogging and using the blogs for a popularity contest fulfill the aims above-mentioned.

    • reynz says:

I do not know where blogging and using the blogs for a popularity contest fulfill the aims above-mentioned.
Hi hi hi hi! I can’t stop laughing at this one! I have no clue either hahaha! Especially in Chemistry. They could have just listed the links of the resources they need to read or what they’re reading instead of copying them.

      • Silver says:

        Reynz,

Not unless the students aim to publish the results from their chemistry experiment or if they have discovered something from their experiments.

        • reynz says:

I read all of those entries and captured some and none of those were written by the students! You can see sa baba at least yong iba nilagyan nang link kung saan naharbat.

    2. Most Polite
    3. Most Resourceful
    4. Most Quite
    5. Most…..etc.!

    • reynz says:

or MOST TERRIFIED! eh subukan mong di mo sundin ang titser mo pag di ka binagsak nyan! ni hindi na kelangang magsalita ang titser. Isang tingin lang yan, you know!

  • Irej says:

PWE! kakasuka..

    • reynz says:

In my school here in the US, meron kaming Blackboard.

Ung isang prof namin in HR, binalandra nya ang aking Book Reports, dalawa yun.

  • Irej says:

I would suggest kapitana na dapat makarating ito sa universidad nila, likewise to DepEd para sila mismo gumawa ng action.. kung ano ang maging valid reason nya. pede kaya?

  • The Ca t says:

The opinion of the lady from US is not acceptable that this is just a popularity contest, so why lose a big deal of sweat. The lady does not realize that cheatihg or engaging in a devious means for self-serving purpose is still cheating. In the same manner that stealing a small amount of money from a beggar or from financially challenged is a crime like stealing millions from the rich.

It is not the magnitude which matters; it is the act which should be condemned.

And well-known criminals were observed to have started with petty crimes.

(by the way JD is not equivalent to academic doctorate degre, JD is only equivalent to LlB which is the second degree to be able to qualify to take the licensure exam. both in the US and in the phils. my sister-in-law graduated from Harvard with JD where the title originated from.

it is a second degree or the Law Proper since students with previous degrees can enroll in this subject for them to be able to take the exam. So this is only equivalent to masteral.

Ateneo had already adopted this title in lieu of the LlB. PLM started using this degree this year.

    • Irej says:

Cath, talagang kinalkal mo ang pagkatao na huh! he he he kawawa naman siya, dami na niyang kalmot mula sau.. he he he

In the same manner that stealing a small amount of money from a beggar or from financially challenged is a crime like stealing millions from the rich.

If the contest is just a popularity contest, I suggest that the word INFLUENTIAL should be removed from the name. It should be renamed as Philippine’s Top 10 Popular Blogs.

Holly did not understand any ilk of the word influential. She mistakenly thought of it as pushing or campaigning to other people to vote for your blog. She and Jena Isle are riding on the same brainwaves.

      • reynz says:

And their Texan spin doctor has no clue of our word “Social Climbing” here. Obviously, this racist from Texas just barged in without understanding where that phrase came and what it means for us here. Yes, Jena Isle and her are the same tunay na Jedi Bloggers who do not uphold kung ano ang Jedi values unfortunately both have twisted values.

        • Silver says:

She looked like someone really got lost with the translation. And yes, if you call yourself a Jedi, then practice the values of a Jedi. Walk the walk. Talk the talk.

Or maybe, they are calling themselves as Jedi just because they are star wars fan of some sort. Anyhoot, for me, the word Jedi is heavy. Almost the same as influential because Jedi pertains to someone defending the light of truth and upholds the highest moral values.

          Moral lesson here for Holly:

Dont butt in a conversation if you dont know what is being talked about. You will get lost in translation if you do.

    • Silver says:

I remember a blogger who proudly states that he is a honoris causa (juris doctor). :D

If she is indeed a pro writer, she should know the value of being honest to her readers, instead of embellishing her credentials just to make her resume look presentable (but disgustingly inflated).

      • reynz says:

when she called me twerp and referred me as one of those hungry Formosans in New Orleans, i looked into her resume and check who this woman is. voila! here’s a sample that I truly, truly laugh:

        listed under ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

        10. Demonstrated willingness to work overtime as required to complete several critical projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines 26% under estimated hours and within budget.

        · How in the world could you darn classify this as an accomplishment?! Demonstrated willingness to overtime? Filipinos don’t need to be coaxed to work overtime. And a willingness to perform overtimes is so not an accomplishment at all! You should be ashamed of yourself.

        • Silver says:

          Reynz,

I also look into thousands of resumes when I was still working as an HR personnel. I could have trashed that one if I ever saw her resume. Accomplishments have a BIG DIFFERENCE from responsibilities and activities.

          • reynz says:

I know! It Jedi Bloggers spin doctor could not even understand and distinguish what is an accomplishment versus what are duties and responsibilities – the how can she distinguish the bad and the good of what her Jedi friends has done???

          • Silver says:

Naalala ko tuloy ang post mo sa palasyong RE about the resumes. I really have a good laugh on that entry. hahahha.

          • reynz says:

as a matter of fact, i will make another RESUME entry and will use THOSE accomplishments as SAMPLE. i have the right to use it given that SHE insulted me and us and threw some racist slurs.

if she thinks that I could be cowed by a legal action, that is not exclusive to her. leche niya! pwe!

  • The Ca t says:

    just for information folks:

DepEd is responsible only for high school and elementary.

CHED is responsible for colleges and universities. But the university concerned was given the right just like state universities and colleges to have its own charter which means, it does not have to get the approval of the CHED to introduce new academic programs or the students getting special order after graduation.

However, the CHED chairman may be interested to this case since he was the President and Owner of the university before he turned over the helm to the new president, his son.

    • reynz says:

thank you for the clear up, i have those addresses already. i’m ready to go and will do this – this week. just waiting if Jena Isle will respond.

  • The Ca t says:

Holly did not understand any ilk of the word influential. She mistakenly thought of it as pushing or campaigning to other people to vote for your blog.

Because that’s how the word influential was redefined again by the promoter.

She and Jena Isle are riding on the same brainwaves.

Nah. Jena Isle thinks that the blogs that won are going to influence people across the globe. hanep na statement.

    According to her:

These are truly emerging blogs which could positively “influence” people across the globe.

And I believe her. She influenced Holly but instead of positively, it was the opposite.

The lady taught that she can simply reprimand bloggers who express their thoughts about the contest without expecting any rebuttal.

    TSEH niya.

    • Silver says:

Nah. Jena Isle thinks that the blogs that won are going to influence people across the globe. hanep na statement.

Thanks for the clarification there madam cat.

And yes, hanep na statement yan. As if they have the capacity to influence people across different borders and cultures.

      ~rolls eyes~

      • reynz says:

when that diversionary tactic employed by that Jedi Blogger from Texas did not work, now she’s employing scare tactics.

read: she said I have this obsession of her when she was the one inviting me for a drink in Bourbon?! hahaha! and her INVITE WAS FLATLY REJECTED by me. now, where in the world is the obsession?

She’s probably thinking that we’d be cowed if she shows up in here and we’d just be silent. We know how to issue a rebuttal and for a doctorate like that – she should have been able to manage herself very well. Unfortunately, she was just another useless Texan voice.
