kabastusan
Woke up this morning. Surfed FB, then I stumbled on this OFW site: Tagpuan nang mga OFW. They were using my OFW Logo. “Ah ok!” so I said to myself.
So, I “liked” the page and browsed. But I found not a single credit to reyna elena dot com, not even a link. Now, I don’t remember getting any email from anyone who wants to use the logo. You see, I spent more than P10,000 for this logo. It’s well documented on reyna elena dot com. In fact, I even drove to Lucena with Ambo and Malen to deliver the prize money to Bluepanjeet. That was a 5-hour drive from Pasig to Lucena. Partly to deliver the P10,000, mag-lamierda at ma-meet na rin si Bluep. That was the 1st time I met all these three wonderful bloggers (Malen, Ambo & Bluepanjeet), who would all become by friends.
So, I posted my comment on the page.
We had a civil exchange of emails. Until she deleted my comment. I did not like it. Here’s how the raw conversation went na alam ko pag-iinitan nang mga grammar nazis.
She did not respond anymore.
I have no problem with people using my logo. However, there is only one very simple requirement. Just a link. That’s all. Proper credits baga. Here in B7, sometimes we fail to do that too and we forget sometimes, but we always strive our best to make the correction and at times, abide by some request to take down some pictures. Ganun lang yon.
People, allow me na i-angat ko ang sarili kong bangko.
I have been blogging since 2006. I was blogging about my dysfunctional life in the United States. Interestingly, I would be followed by a lot of Overseas Filipino Workers and Overseas Pinoys on my personal blog, reyna elena dot com. As a matter of fact, many of them requested and asked for my assistance on several areas, from helping them with their blogs to preparing and fixing their resumes. Ultimo students swarmed me by asking assistance writing and reviewing their SONA papers.
But the one I enjoyed the most was helping OFW’s start their own business. I assisted them in preparing financial statements and business plans. So far, I assisted an OFW from Saudi in preparing an internet café business plan. He said he needed it to obtain a bank loan. I also prepared a hotel business plan for this Overseas Filipino couple and did due diligence and financial analysis work.
These are they kind of services I have given to a number of OFW’s and Overseas Pinoys through my blog, reyna elena dot com for free, although some of them sent me monies and gifts. Lahat to naka-blog sa reyna elena, including pictures of what was sent to me.
Nakakataba sa puso when I would receive an email from an OFW na naging successful sa business nila or sa trabaho nila, especially after promotion and would tell me about the tulong na ginawa ko. These are priceless.
Kaya kung kakapiranggot man lang na logo man for OFW’s hindi yan problema. What I am not happy about is that, ni wala na ngang proper links and credits, i-de-delete pa ang comments ko which to me amounts to pambabastos.
How could they do that to me? I-dump at bastusin na lang ako basta? Di ba dapat, ilatag pa nila ang red carpet, wisik-wisik pa nang katas nang dinikdik na gumamela dahil they were using my P10,000 OFW Logo without any permission, without any links, without any pagsasamba at papuri sa Reyna?!
And that’s what really pissed me off, irrelevant kung OFW ka pa.

Update: Here is a copy of their rules.

They have rules in their page, yeah right! At isa yta sa rules nila mangopya. Nakaka-irita!
hindi magandang halimbawa ang ginagawa ng admin. dapat kung sino ang admin e responsable din sa lahat, as in everything lalo na ang logo down to its by-laws and rules. pwede mo silang sampahan ng kaso at pwede mo silang ireport sa facebook. pakita mo lang sa fb na ikaw ang may ari ng logo na yon.
Ate Reynz, they changed the logo already. They never apologised?
These group are way out of line,They did not only illegally copied and used your Logo but they still have the gall and temerity to justify the use of it!!!
Some people really don’t get it…
They are aware that the logo is not theirs…
Engaged in an argument and adamant with their flaws.
No formal apologies.
MORAL LESSON to the ERRING PARTY: HUMILITY and RESPECT to OTHER’S PROPERTY
there are two things that they should have done to appease reynz:
1. a well deserved apology
2. an acknowledgement
tapos hindi nila ginawa. hayz sayang, politeness pa naman goes along way.
cheer up reynz, we all know naman who is the real owner of that logo.
Akala nila, basta’t nasa internet, fair game. Yung ka exchange mong admin, obviously technologically challenged, heheheh, kaya ignore mo sha. Hindi worth the stress makipag argue sa katulad nya, might as well talk to a rock.
That is a very common Filipino trait. Walang original ideas at nagnanakaw ng magagandang ideas. I have a friend who opened up a Filipino store at an Asian mall here and he was doing good until another Filipino rented the next store and another Filipino also thought it was a good idea so he opened another one. Now all three of them are low balling each other to the point that they are selling their dishes at the lowest price and even giving out free pop to entice their patrons to be loyal to them. My friend’s mistake was not signing up the lease with exclusive rights to sell Filipino food with the building owner since he did not anticipate this copycat mentality. Lesson learned is to protect yourself in case you start a business since there are so many monkeys out there. Also when you start a business to be thick skinned since there will always be people who will not be happy for you since they say you are now mayabang and to the ones that made it, o you are just bagong yaman.
It goes to show how your OFW logo is so nice— so bluep did it? awesome.. But not giving F$%%^$# credit tsk tsk tsk… At ang kapal talaga @mel, agree ako sa iyo, may pa-rules rules pang nalalaman.. haaay…
Did you complain to FB? Mga Kano yan, so they will be appreciative of intellectual property rights.
She is nothing but trying hard second rate copy cat…..
Wow. Tigas naman ng fez ng mga yan! Hahah…
AS IN LMAO talaga!
i agree with ur issue with that site. nakakatawa ang rules nila, sila lang pala ang pwedeng mang nenok ng logo ng iba…
