Kristie Kenney and the first African-American envoy to RP: Harry Thomas Jr.

Unlike some wives of mayors or congressman or senators distributing relief goods, they have to be dressed for the occasion with dangling sparkling bling-blings. Kristie? look at how she was dressed.

I have nothing but praises for the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney. She has endeared herself to Filipinos by being accessible and widely seen at disaster sites and even war zones. She must probably be the only US Ambassador to the Philippines who did what she did. Being out there. Visible. In touch. That it touched off some nerves from certain quarters.

In fact, she is far more visible than Gloria. Quite frankly, I hope she runs for President of the Philippines. Nope! I’m not kidding. Give her Filipino citizenship. As far as I am concerned, she’s perfect for the job. Besides, did I hear that Edu Manzano is a dual citizen? Being born in the United States?

Anyway…

The United States will have a new ambassador to the Philippines after US President Barack Obama nominated a career diplomat and fellow African-American to replace Kristie Ann Kenney, who was the first woman US ambassador to Manila.

A statement from the US Office of the Press Secretary said Obama named Harry Thomas Jr. as new ambassador to the Philippines.
