Unmoderated Filipino Voices?! hahaha! What’s going on?! Nag-susulputan ang mga [insert nasty word here] blogs!

Yes – in Barrio Siete – censored ang PAID HACKS and censored ang ANONYMOUS COMMENTERS whose only job it to attack commenters personally. There will be none of that in the Barrio. I encouraged everyone who comes here to talk about issues, solutions, reconcile biased views and social climbing. That’s all.

      PAID HACK. PWE.

Maliban sa very “loud” and talked about na video ni noy (even here sa barrio in fairness!), anong pakulo na ba ang ginawa niya?

All his critics have been very very “supportive” of him. Ayan tuloy parang ang layo na agad ng lamang ni Noynoy.

All this said is that Noynoy is popular amongst an electorate that votes on the basis of star power and pedigree platforms.

But what do these figures mean ultimately? Not much, except that Noynoy is popular.

But can he govern? Can he lead?

Those are the more important questions that remain unanswered. :D

    • reynz says:

Pulse Asia’s polls is used to determine people’s preference towards a candidate. There’s a big chance that popularity could translate into votes – if those respondents are registered voters and if they will actually vote. It can also be used by candidates in a lot of ways. An unpopular candidate could change his strategy or work on his platform, hire PR people, perform better in debates and even hire paid hacks to increase his popularity because polls can sway public opinions. That we know. It could also be a wake-up call on unpopular candidates – how come they are not connecting with the electorate? Were they involved in scandals? Corruption perhaps? Polls are never a measure of governance, good, bad or one’s ability to govern.

In short, Mr. reynz, these “surveys” are tools for winning elections, right?

If so would you say this information is published more for the benefit of the politicians than for that of the voters?

Because the only effect on voters I can think of in the publication of popularity metrics like these is to induce a bandwagon effect.

But other than that it does not make voters any more the wiser about their options (in the true sense of what voting is really all about).

    Score in this instance:

    - Bozo politician: 1
    - Clueless voter: 0

    • reynz says:

      “tools for winning elections”?

none of the politicians (your candidate included) own Pulse Asia. do they? those are information… ergo tools that anyone can use as i have said above.

i’m sure you’d have a different opinion if noynoy is gasping last at .001%

polls exists for some very simple reason. you’re over analyzing and intellectualizing.

Mr. Reynz, I did not use the term “tools” to mean that they pervert the survey process itself (as you mention, they don’t own the Survey agency). I meant that the published information itself is a tool that guides the campaign strategy of these politicians; i.e. I was echoing what you yourself said here:

It can also be used by candidates in a lot of ways. [my boldface for emphasis]

Politicians, use the information to fine-tune their campaign, therefore they are tools in the same sense that you use tools, am I right?

But from the perspective of the voters, what do they gain from the information in these surveys in terms of tools they could use to evaluate their options?

Perhaps you are over-reacting on a wrong interpretation of what you perceive to be an “over-analysis”. ;)

      Sir, yes sir.

  • botomoto says:

just wondering… is there anyone out there who has been interviewed by any of these survey firms? how about anyone who knows someone who was interviewed?

  • Snow says:

Whoa, 25% difference ha! Heto lang ang masasabi ko:

‘Statistically speaking, that is a relevant lead.’

  • Silver says:

Ah eh, how about yung surveys ni Eklat?

    44% from 60% – that’s a reduction of 16%.

  • promking says:

wow.. 44%.. sikat ka na noynoy, hindi mo na kailangan gumawa ng pelikula.

  • Mel says:

noynoy dropped from 60+% to 44%. that means manny villar is so happy kasi hindi nasasayang yung pinangsusuweldo niya. bwahahahaha!

  • [...] last survey indicated that Noynoy was up at 60%. The latest put him at 44%. This was how it looked [...]
