Mar’s high hopes to overcome Binay’s lead

14 May 2010 4 Comments

There is hope for Mar Roxas. According to this news I read:

VICE presidential bet Senator Mar Roxas II has every reason to keep his hopes high in overcoming the lead of his rival to the vice presidency, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay. The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said Thursday that several areas known to be bailiwicks of the senator have yet to transmit their results.

PPCRV said there are still some 8,102 precincts that have yet to transmit results, representing 10.59-percent of the total 76,475 clustered precincts, which may spell the difference between the standing of the two candidates.

This translates to some four to five million votes, computed at an estimated 75-percent voters’ turnout in every clustered precinct.

Charges and counter-charges are flying in the air, too!

“Former Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz Jr. called Binay to stop spreading black propaganda that Binay had already won the vice presidency and that Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, running mate of Sen. Benigno Aquino III, was cheating him in Mindanao. Cruz particularly called on Binay’s spokesperson Lito Anzures to stop claiming that the mayor had won or that the Roxas camp was manipulating the counting of the votes.

Anzures, responded that more than 80 percent of the votes that comprised Roxas’ claim of a 2.1 million-vote lead in the Visayas over Binay should already be reflected in the Comelec tally. “If they are claiming otherwise, how come it was not transmitted?” Anzures said.”
