Meet the writers: Lalaine S.

LS 9The question of identity is one of the perennial issues in the history of philosophy. According to Plato, what I am is essentially an immaterial soul. Locke on the other hand, maintains that a person is defined by her self-reflective consciousness consists of a substance (body and soul) and relational memory. If we follow the biological criterion, I am is simply a living organism, a human animal the essence of which is being rational…

Still reading?

Nerd. Not your typical nerd (what’s a typical nerd anyway?), but still a nerd. I started school at 5 and finished college at 19. Also started teaching college students (dun sa may Sunken Garden) at 19 kung kaya akala ng mga estudyante , wala yung prof. sa first day of class at S.A.

Towards the end of the school year, she discovered the truth (sorry, I lied) at sobrang nagalit sya gusto nya akong wag ipasa for grade 2.

Pilosopiya: A good student doesn’t lie; only the best one does.

Professional Student.

Pilosopiya: A company ID is not always better than a student card. The former gives you responsibilities, the latter gives you discounts.

Feeling jetsetter.

Pilosopiya: For everything else, there’s the rich husband (that pays the Mastercard).

Sawi sa pag-ibig. Oh well, minsan. Pero impressive ang “koleksyon” ko, hehe. Europeans, tapos graduates ng Harvard, Cambridge at Oxford. I wouldn’t settle for anything less. Syempre ‘no, a high quality good only deserves an equal or even higher quality good. Before anything else, sabi nga ng Kapitana, show your credentials muna.

Pilosopiya: Basta ang importante at the end of the day, pareho lang kayong nag-enjoy. Haha.

Bookworm. Kebs na kahit walang boys, basta maraming books. I like to read.

Pilosopiya: No brainer. Books are better than boys. Books last; boys don’t. (Gusto ko sanang sabihing books are expensive, boys are cheap, pero alam ko marami ang kokontra. Pero hayan, sinabi ko na rin, haha.)

Wait, there’s more. The self can never be described adequately as it continues to unfold. I’m a work in progress.

And lastly, to state the obvious: Not all philosophers students of philosophy are always philosophical. :D

What? Who? Am I just the shadow of reality? or I am a conscious being but born brainless that can be manipulated through the machinery of those who control the flow of information.

Who am I? What is my identity? What is the paradigm?

    MADAME: *raise hands* Question:

Aren’t we all philosophers in our own right? :-)

    • darbs says:

Aren’t we all philosophers in our own right?

Eggsakli! They called it Philosophy of Men/Women/Gays/Lesbians!

      • Lalaine S. says:

Well yeah, you can say that. :) The key is having a sense of wonder. And knowing thyself. And living an examined life.

        Question:

Aren’t we all philosophers in our own right? – reynz

Yes. We are all filosopers in our own right – pilosopical man o pilosopo. basta may may rason, rasyonal, makatarungan, nagbigay aral…

What about a key where, “imagination is much more important than knowledge – Albert Einstein”

Or why not just settled with…

The key is having a sense of wonder. And knowing thyself. And living an examined life – Lalaine S

Lalaine, I enjoyed reading all your travel art and went to your website. I can relate to that since I also went abroad on my own and still in school doing my masters in Engineering. I still have to defend but I hope I can finish this year. I also am a bookworm and the funny thing is I just talked to our secretary and she was recommending Pillars of the Earth and I go to your website and lo and behold you gave it 10/10 rating. I definitely will go to chapters. Good luck to your thesis writng!!! We need more people like you who can be a good role model for young Filipino girls.

    • darbs says:

(apir igsoon).Di ko lang alam kung sino sa mga filosopirs ang may great sense of humor. Siguro si Nietszche, ano?

      Likewise sa apir igsoon:
Additional list: Al Camus, Em Kant, Ed Burke, Hegel, Karl Marx, dili kalimtan si Aquinas ug si Augustine and Dfish. hehehe (balos apir igsoon).

Do you have a filosper you can relate with?
