Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih: A Champion Pole Dancer!

18 May 2010 35 Comments

She’s only been queen for a day but the new Miss USA is already feeling the heat from the media spotlight.

On Sunday, Michigan’s Rima Fakih became the first Arab American to win the beauty pageant.

Now TMZ is out with pictures of Fakih winning a very different competition.

The website says there are pictures of the beauty queen back in 2007, clinching the “Stripper 101″ pole dancing competition for a radio station.

Fakih reportedly won jewelry, gift cards, adult toys and a stripper pole.

Oh my gulay, I am having a shock of my life. I just can’t believe that the newly crowned Miss USA would suddenly be subjected to a scandal!

So…

This controversy reminds me a little bit of Venus Raj issue from way back. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 natin compared to this one!

Anyway, ano kaya masasabi ni Donald Trump?

Sa tingin ninyo ba: will Rima Fakih keep the crown or will Mr. Trump say “You’re fired!”

Abangan…

Thanks to TMZ for the photo above!

Oh dear! but then again we can’t judge her because of her past(she might needed to survive to do that? don’t know… anyway, i think pole dancing is a talent. Tried that for excercise but I needed to stop on the first trial kasi it felt like the pole is going to kras sa bigat ko. hahaha :-D

    • Snow says:

I get your point Chi. :) Kaya lang, tingin ko medyo scandalous ito for her dahil yung title na napanalunan niya nung 2007 ay ‘Stripper 101′.

      Hmmm…

Not a good sounding title for a Miss USA winner. Not to mention, Arab-American pa siya. :(

  • fz says:

she’s a dancer, therefore she’s an artist. DIGS?

  • Silver says:

Just a thought: normal na ata sa kanila ang pole dancing. Not unless na magbare naked siya sa lansangan ng hollywood e ayun, scandal to the highest power yun.

Hindi magaalala si Donald Trump dyan. Hehhe. :P

    P.S.

Malay mo Snow, maging Olympic sport yan. Hahhahaha. :P

    • Snow says:

      oo nga ano? why not!

  • lee says:

no problem naman daw sabi ni trump, she can keep daw her crown according to the boss

    • fz says:

speaking of the trumps, i think Ivanka is hot.

      • lee says:

        • Snow says:

@fz/lee- i agree ivanka trump is indeed a beauty! fast facts about donald trump’s daughter:

:In July 2009, after studying with Rabbi Elie Weinstock from Ramaz School, Ivanka Trump converted from Catholicism to Judaism and took the name Yael. The beth din that converted her included Rabbi Haskel Lookstein. On October 25, 2009 she married Jared Kushner, owner of The New York Observer, in front of 500 guests at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

      • Silver says:

        Parekoy Lee,

        • lee says:

        • Snow says:

Exactly! Imagine what the BPCI did to Venus Raj? She was dethroned and then enthroned due to birth certificate scandal!

Well, sana naman maawa sila sa mga babaeng na-spend ng effort, time and money to join a major beauty pageant. :(

          • lee says:

        • Snow says:

          Mareng Lee,

I guess it all boils down to publicity. Sabi nga sa showbiz, good or bad publicity is still a publicity. ;)

  • reynz says:

Honestly, I love this news. Especially if you live in the US, you get bombarded with a lot of negative news about arabs, muslims and anyone from the middle east.

I have a straight friend David, he’s Lebanese at napaka-uber gwapo, i blogged about him, mga kalokohan namen in Philadelphia sa reyna elena and truly enjoyed his company. Lebanese people are fun people and they are so damn great to be with, maloloka kayo. In fact, i feel that mostly na mga tiga-middle east actually. Kaya, I know napaka-negative nang mga news about them, but if you hang around with them, di ko getz ang negative news.

  • jimg2940 says:

unfair unfair unfair, its a radio dare and not the real thing. Have you seen any men customer? Its more like all ladies night stag. WTF!

  • reynz says:

typical na promo yan dito sa mga bars sa Amerika. i don’t think that will affect her title. kasayahan lang yon. radio promo ba. it’s not something na she did professionally.

“Miss Hezbollah is now Miss USA,” declared conservative radio talk show host Debbie Schlussel, saying that Fakih’s relatives in Lebanon had ties to the terrorist organization based there. Schlussel also said Fakih received some financial backing from onetime Hezbollah supporter Imad Hamad — or, as Schlussel put it, Fakih’s “bid for the pageant was financed by an Islamic terrorist.” Suggesting the pageant was “rigged,” Schlussel wrote off Fakih’s victory to a “politically correct, Islamo-pandering climate.”

Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin saw a conspiracy afoot, too — generic rather than Muslim-specific this time. Malkin mocked Fakih as a “gaffetastic” contestant who tripped over her gown as well as over her answer to a question about birth control — exposing Fakih’s ignorance, Malkin argued, about what constitutes a “controlled substance” and what the purpose of health care is. “Looks like the Miss USA pageant didn’t want to risk the wrath of the open-borders mob,” Malkin said.

Immigration was in fact another flashpoint of political controversy over the contest. Runner-up Morgan Elizabeth Woolard of Oklahoma was asked for her views on Arizona’s recent immigration law, a question that drew boos from the crowd before the judge — actor Oscar Nunez of “The Office” — could even finish getting it out.

When he did deliver the question, asking whether immigration enforcement “should be mandated by the state or by the federal government,” Woolard replied that she was “a huge believer in states’ rights,” then added: “I think it’s perfectly fine for Arizona to create that law, and I’m against illegal immigration. But I’m also against racial profiling, so I see both sides in this issue.” You can watch the exchange here:
