My post-inauguration wang-wang tidbits

Wang-wang mentality

Wang-wang mentality is really an abuse of power and privilege. It’s bloody annoying to read comments saying that this wang-wang policy is too tiny mini-mayni-mo of a problem to even deserve presidential attention. Naknampooka oo! Translated into common Pinoy language: “Los Indios, lumayas kayo sa kalsada! Wala kayong karapatan ni anuman dahil dadaan kami”. Only the wannabes cannot understand how symbolically big this bloody wang-wang culture is. Worse, government officials are rabidly guilty of these as well as the rich and notoriously wannabe rich. The banning of wang-wang should and must be legislated. In fact, PNP has already said that despite a nationwide crackdown on unauthorized use of “wang-wang,” or sirens and blinkers on vehicles, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has admitted it could not go after dealers selling the gadgets. Simple enough – pass a law banning the sale of this gadget. Senators? Any takers?

The law of diminishing wang-wang

According to the new DOJ Secretary, a law already exists barring the unauthorized use of sirens on the country’s streets. Why is everyone still using wang-wang? The problem in the Philippines is always on the execution. Why? Because there has been no leadership in the past. All we saw were economists and financiers busy with how to get rich very, very quick.

Prime Minister ass-pirant

While Gloria Arroyo and his son were the first ones to move into action, filing a resolution leading to a charter change, I agree that there is a need to edit, modify, change our Constitution. But I would like to know what’s to be changed and therefore, a study is needed. At this point I could point out two:

1.)    Clearly, the partylist system was greedily used by the Arroyo Family so that Mikey could crawl back to Congress as a security guard. Why Comelec even approved his application as marginalized (pwe!) was beyond me. It’s not just the partylist that should be fixed or altogether be removed, so is the Comelec!

2.)    In Presidential Elections, it is ridiculous for a President to win and see his Vice-President losing. Imagine an administration where you have a President and a Vice-President with two (2) different agendas. Therefore, when a candidate for President wins, the Vice-President wins too. So, don’t even be surprised to read any Binay disagreements with Noynoy.

You’re fired! Oops!

So there was a boo-boo on the very first circular issued. Fired were the positions of all non-career appointees of Gloria Arroyo and extended for another month the services of contractual employees. In almost a back-flip, they reissued the order specifying who among the non-career appointees should stay and who should go. Even the media briefing was another boo-boo. Isn’t it funny that you find yourself inside the fence now, confronting the very media you used to fight alongside with? And suddenly you found yourself sort of singing the same music the previous administration was singing? It’s just fine-tuning. No, it’s not. Just tell them bluntly you made a mistake. Then smile. And relax. You’re too… ahhh.. hmmm… wala lang Atty. Lacierda. No worries, friends pa rin tayo! hahaha! Try humor. It always works.

Who will decide on Arroyo’s graft case?

“Secretary de Lima, you have your marching orders. Begin the process of providing true and complete justice for all.” says President Benigno Aquino during his inauguration. There is just one problem. Remember who cleared President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from the NBN/ZTE corruption charges, citing Arroyo’s presidential immunity? It is Ombudsman Merciditas Gutierrez. She has the last say on what cases should be filed with the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court. Worse, you cannot remove this ~!@#$%^&~!~!! Because she has a fixed term under the Constitution. Who’s laughing now? Pohta talaga!

Hi Reynz not sure if you heard the news na na-traffic si Pres. Noy kasi di sya gumamit ng wang-wang. But here’s my take on this matter.
I understand if he is trying to be a good example but making his PSG uncomfortable on every traffic situation for me is too much.

For me there is nothing wrong if he is the only one to use these sirens and blinkers because I understand that his safety is more important rather than making himself a good example.

So, I hope that the chief PSG will be able to convince him.

I agree. Kasi hindi pwedeng na-tatraffic ang presidente for security reasons kahit pa bullet proof ang car nya. Saka hindi rin kasi pwede maputol ang convoy. Besides, the pres, vice pres, speaker of the house and senate president are allowed to use wang-wang. Saka after noong street party nya, bigla syang humiwalay sa convoy nya dahil nagutom daw. Nawindang ang mga PSG.

      • reynz says:

i’m sure people will understand if eventually he uses wang-wang. he should use wang-wang, dapat lang. but i hope, they fix the traffic problem once and for all. wang-wang kasi is not the solution.

        1.) add more roads
2.) they can copy Bogota’s Bus Transport System
3.) tanggalin ang mga Jeep at Traysikel sa major metropolitan roads and highways
4.) more mass transit and finally
5.) baklasin ang mga lecheng nagtataasang mga gate nang exclusive subdivisions para magkaron nang access sa mga heavily traffic areas. yang mga exclusive subdivision na yan are also wang-wang by themselves eh

I was chatting with a friend and former colleague yesterday. Kinuwento nya na halos di sila maka-function as an office kasi walang boss na natira dahil na-fire lahat because of the circular issued by PNoy. Second, maraming nadamay na mga employees na hindi naman political appointees. Kasi Asst. Sec appointments are usually signed by the Pres whether it is a plantilla or co-terminus position. So pati yong mga employees who rose from rank (CESO qualified pa yong iba), they will lose their jobs by end of the month. I think it’s ridiculous!

I also found out (though I’m not sure if true) ang bagong LTO chief ay dating taga-ayos ng car registration ni PNoy. How does that differ from manicurista and hardinero? – siguro dahil office worker naman sya dati. One more thing, yong PMS chief nya (Asec Level) dating executive asst (secretary) ni Dinky sa DSWD. I was just thinking – is this the kind of people they are appointing to positions?

    • nina says:

made some research – lawyer pala yong LTO chief but then parang kulang pa rin ang credentials…Wasn’t really into it. May naka chat lang kagabi…
