NEWS FLASH: Noynoy Aquino to Run as President for the 2010 Elections
In a surprise announcement that occurred moments ago, Senator Noynoy Aquino, the one and only son of former president Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino and hailed Philippine patriot and senator, Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr., declared his candidacy for presidency in the much awaited 2010 elections.
Previously, Senator Mar Roxas was the confirmed standard bearer for the Liberal Party (to which both Roxas and Noynoy bleong). But in a gesture of being a gentleman and sacrificing his own presidential bid, he paved way for Noynoy Aquino’s bid for the presidency.
From Mel Beckham’s steno report from the announcement that happened in Club Filipino moments ago, here is the part of the speech from Senator Mar Roxas:
Over the weekend, Noy and I have very long conversations. We agreed, let us forget our ambitions.
This is not about us.
This is about our people and our country.
This is about our common dream.
Today, I am announcing my support for the candidacy of Noynoy Aquino for President in the 2010 Elections.
Sa ating mga kababayan, sa mga nagtiwala sa akin, mahal na mahal ko po kayo.
Mahal na mahal ko po ang ating bayan.
Hindi rin tayo magkakahiwalay.
Itutuloy natin ang pagbabago sa ating bansa.

People have been clamoring for Noynoy to run as president. It has also been the web buzz a few days after former president Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino was buried. Looks like some people got what they wished for. 
The recent event reminded me of the Jerry Roxas and Ninoy Aquino tandem for the elections during the pre-martial law days. The question is: will Mar Roxas become the running mate of Noynoy? It is still unclear as of this moment. Liberal Party is still mum about the tandem. Let’s keep tuned into this recent development.

yep. that wowowee thing and the love angle was for me, a cheap shot. kaya even though medyo lamang sya sa ibang mga presidentiable, nawalan ako ng amor.
but now, after all those papogi ang efforts, he gave way to Noynoy? now he got my respect and most probably, my vote.
Pwede din Buraotness pero para sa akin, di pa ako convinced kay Mar. Ahehehhe.

Mar did a Doy. Oo naman, sure ako that he’ll be Noy’s running mate. I think this is too early pa to tell but they might be the team na iboboto ko.
Kahit na I’ve been criticising Mar these past months dahil sa kanyang nakakalokang acting sa tv ad niya, what he did today is kahanga-hanga.
My little side comment though is that parang napilitan lang talaga si Mar to make atras kasi because of what happened to Tita Cory and Noy was put in a better limelight. Popular opinion din that Noy is a much better ‘option’ knowing that he is Ninoy and Cory’s son.
People are looking for that Cory magic, aminin na natin and Noy as a son is the best and only choice. Alangan naman si Ate Kris noh!
Kumbaga, let’s put it this way na lang. The admin might have Teodoro-Puno tandem. Manny Villar might get Kiko. Loren-Chiz is also an option. With those line-up, the Noy and Mar tandem is the lesser evil.

i’m interested though to read the next SWS or Pulse Asia Survey kung si Noynoy nga talaga ang clamor nang madla given na parating si Manny Villar ang nasa unahan. I mean, ano kaya ang next strategy nang Villar camp knowing that the tandem or kahit indi na tandem – knowing na Noynoy could be the candidate to beat?
I’m sure mag-iiba na ang standing ng surveys na yan unless funded by Villar. lol.
Villar’s strategy now is through the masses. Dinadala si Willie Revillame sa mga probinsya. Kagagaling lang nila sa Davao last week and last weekend nandun din sila sa CDO. Humahatak ng crowd ang show ni Willie kaya bumabango din ang nagdadala sa kanya sa mga tao.

Kiko is off the race (as well as among ed because he supports noynoy). He already said that he will step down in his candidacy for VP if Noynoy would run as President. Noynoy, Mar and Kiko at this point showed true statesmanship with their decisions. I admire these three. Sometimes it pays to be young. Enough of the old trapos. I pray that this coming election, the concerned citizens would educate people in voting wisely especially those who are below poverty line. Erap is not an option. He is actually hungry for power just like any other Presidential wannabes. And Villanueva and Velarde? Please… give me a break.
I hope villar would follow suit in giving way to Noynoy. If that will be the case, there is a great chance that Noy would win in a landslide victory. The threat to Noynoy is not villar nor de castro but ERAP
I hate Loren. She’s another Imelda and Gloria in the making, itaga nyo sa bato. And I dont like chiz because of his loyalty to Erap IMHO.

I agree to some point, but dont you think silvs that 50% of the voters population, votes on the basis of popularity and looks? Thats a bad sign. we have been living in this kind of voting attitude for so long thats why our country is always dwindling.
I am not supporting for Noy (if ever) just because he is the son of my president and my martyr-hero. I havent even seen him do his thing in the Senate nor even heard his plan for the country… But then again i will vote for him (again if ever) because I believe that with all the candidates combined, he is far better choice than the rest of them. I just hope Noy and Mar would not end up as enemies in the process just like Doy and Cory did.

You can never mix politics and religion. Just because you are a spiritual leader doesnt mean that you are already the hope of the political and economic situation of the country. We cant deny the populist way of voting nang iba sa ating mga kababayan. It is up to us na nakakaalam ng kalakaran sa politics ang ipaalam sa ating mga ka-barrio na hindi puro papuge lang ang botohan. Otherwise, puro papuge na pangako lang ang makukuha nila.
Kaya sa susunod na 2010 elections, alisin na ang populist way of voting. Let’s weigh these characters, kikilatisin at titimbangin base sa kapasidad nila na pagsilbihan ang ating bayan.

Mar, although he would not admit that marrying the TV anchor Korina Sanches is not political, it seems that marriage is part of the plan towards the path of presidency.
Noynoy on the other hand has a simple, and private relationship with a not so popular woman.
Between Mar and Noynoy, The best choice would be Noynoy, besides I don’t like Korina to be the country’s first lady, (dahil hindi bagay).
Now, that Noynoy formally declared his candidacy, He got a big chance to win.. I will fully support Noynoy..

i really believe na yong drama ni Mar and Korina on Wowowee did more harm to them than good. it was seen as cheap, really cheap politicking. but this one that Mar did, sorta absolved him sa misgivings nya noon and i think after this, he is much a bigger person than before.

Kiko Pangilinan is a good candidate. Kung pagpipiliin ako between Mar and him, I’d choose Kiko. The family he has with Sharon Cuneta is one role model at leche, pati si Sharon is ending up as one truly model housewife considering na celebrity sya. I’d say na given na Sharon has such a clean name and a clean image, plus plus yon ki Kiko. Kiko for all I care could be a VP to Noynoy as well and I’ll accept him.

I was hoping that Noynoy Aquino would settle for the VP position because lately the more I know about Mar Roxas, the more he was looking to be the most credible of our presidentiables. It looks the “opposition” (heightened by the Arroyo Admin as always the scapegoat of their dirty linens) now hinges on Noynoy. Less of his charisma, I will still bank on his integrity though Kiko is really my man. Kiko is a very simple man, principled, and intelligent enough to deal with global affairs…But most likely, Kiko will go tooth-for-tooth against Mar just in case he will run for VP. Kiko has a solid youth vote and most likely will stick with him despite Mar’s statemanly gesture..

As for Mar, I was skeptical of your intention for the country before but your recent announcement to backout in favor of Noynoy is really admirable. Para sa akin, tama ang desisyon mo kasi yan ang hinihingi ng mga mamamayan.

I still think that he is too raw to lead the country. Don’t give the reason e paano si Cory din naman a? The difference is people rallied behind Cory because of a common enemy, kung baga, na-unite ni Tita Cory ang opposition. If Noy can do the same, then well and good. Pero sa tingin ko, marami pa ding ambisyosong opposition na gustong makuha ang top post.
