No! Noynoy, No! Kris, no reconciliation with the Marcoses until…

(Author’s Note: This is the post which I published a few hours ago on my blog as a reaction to the rumors that Bongbong and Imee Marcos’ presence at the wake of Cory Aquino may eventually lead to the reconciliation of the Aquinos and Marcoses. I thought of sharing with you guys here in the Barrio.)

Even Politics have intrigues and rumors, and this time, the buzz is true. Earlier this week, there was a rumor that the Marcoses would go to the wake of the late President which many speculated to be a half truth. But to the shock of many inside the Manila Cathedral, even Journalists and anchors on national TV, Bongbong Marcos and Imee Marcos, both tonggresman Congressman in their bailwick Ilocos Norte, just suddenly showed up on the steps of the manila Cathedral to pay their last respect to the Philippine Matriarch of Democracy.

There was a quiet tension inside the Church. Many of the friends and supporters of the Aquino family, stared silently on the Marcoses but were never hostile nor disrespectful to the symphatizing Marcoses. But instead, the grandchildren of Cory welcomed the Marcoses with warmth and civility. After a few minutes, the Eldest Daughter of Cory, Ballsy, went on the pew and exchanged pleasantries with the Marcoses, concluding the greeting with a check-to-cheek gesture.

It was an awkward moment, not for the Aquinos’ but for the Marcoses as people stared at them inside the church, and going to pews after pews while the media festered them.

With this, many have been asking, even the rumormongers, uzis and intrigueros, if this is a sign of a future reconciliation. If this is a start of what to become an end of the feuding families that outlined the Philippines in the map of world history.

We can remember that the initiative started when Actress Kris Aquino publicly thanked the Marcoses for offering prayers for their mom on national TV. Hours after that statement, Imelda replied by thanking Kris on the same channel just after her performance, errrr, prayer in the Catholic Church of Tondo.

Who are we to doubt their sincerity nor their intentions? only the most high can read men’s hearts. But we are all given the lesson of history to never trust a snake especially if you were bitten by it before, not only once, but a million times, equal to the figures of those who died and suffered injustice during their dictatorship.

True that if Cory would be alive, she could have easily forgiven them for their transgressions and abuses of power. But it was not only to Cory Aquino, to Ninoy and to the Aquino family whom they owe reconciliation and retribution, but to the rest of the Filipinos who endured their tyranny which scarred our memories by the lashes of vivid images of what seemingly transpired just yesterday.

So to Noynoy, Kris and the rest of the Aquino Family, this is not only your cause, but also our own.

Do not reconcile with the Marcoses, especially with Imelda until…

  • they return the millions of dollars of ill-gotten wealth they stole
  • they paid for the lives of those whom they destroyed by imprisoning them and sentencing them with or without the thump of gavel in court
  • they accept what the history has already written
  • they repent for the pomp and extravagance they waisted on endless night of parties in Malacanang while their people are starved, tortured and abused on various prison camps all over the Islands.
  • they repay the endless list of human rights violations they’ve committed
  • they cough up the real mastermind of Ninoy’s Asssination,
  • they paid every drop of blood that were shed on Mendiola and on thousands of remote places where they used to drop the bodies of victims of extrajudicail killings
  • they return vast lands they forcefully grabbed from the rightful owners, which should be the farmers and tenants
  • they apologize in public all of their Crimes
  • they rot in jail for the crimes they committed which even their very lives cannot satisfy nor gratify…

No! Noynoy, No! Kris, No! Aquino family, to reconciliation, even if it meant their most sincerest intent. Because mercy is always served by paying first and foremost the price of cruelty and tyranny which is justice. Thats why we have the concept called parole, to give mercy to those who paid their debt to humanity, particularly to the Filipinos. But in this case, has Justice been served? Are they behind bars? Have they returned what they stole? Have they mended the broken lives which they themselves shattered into pieces? Have they paid their debts while Imelda continue to lavish herself with the empty glamour of materialism as she spends thousands of pesos celebrateing her God-damned birthday on Hotel Sofitel. Have they?

Reconciling with them is like throwing to the dregs everything that Ninoy died for and everything that Cory lived for….

No! Noynoy, No! Kris, No to reconciliation. This is also our fight as much as yours… Tuloy ang Laban!

    Amen.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

Weeks before Cory’s death, Imelda Marcos was just calling Cory, a usurper and a dictator. You don’t reconcile to somebody with nasty statements like that. Worse, you don’t reconcile to a dead person when she has all the chances in the world to reconcile with Cory when she was alive.

What Imelda Marcos is doing is stealing even the limelight that’s due Cory in times of death. Magnanakaw talaga kahit ano. She loves the media and the limelight. I believe in all my heart that she is just using this upheaval of support to Cory for her own selfish political motives. Kakasuka!

If they have to reconcile, they must return all what they have stolen from the Filipino people. I’m sorry to the Aquino’s but this is not just their fight – this is now THE FILIPINO’s FIGHT.

    • bluepanjeet says:

Hindi ko alam yun ah. Ang alam ko noon pa sya nagsasalita ng laban kay cory.

Yun nga ang pinagtataka ko. hinintay pa nila mamatay yung tao. if they are really sincere, why wait? for all we know based on imelda’s bitchiness, she may have privately been glad of the news that cory had a cancer.

Reynz’ watch the documentary of Ramona Diaz on youtube called “Imelda”. this was the docu that angered imelda a few years ago. tipo bang Michale Jackson vs. Bashir. haha Kitang kita mo dun na may topak yung matanda. even the human rights victims were interviewed and they were all unanimous in their statement, even Fr. james Reuters that imelda is in denial of everything

well let’s see if the Filipino people will give her the same love that we showed today.

  • Lalaine S. says:

    Indeed, definitely NO!

I don’t have very strong political opinions but sometimes, I lament on the fact that some of us (Filipinos) are very easy to forget. Some of us put the Marcoses back on power, some of us are re-considering Erap, and so on.

Forgiveness is a virtue, but it should only be given, I think, to whom it’s due.

    • bluepanjeet says:

Thats true lalaine, why the hell on earth are we easy to forget? Maybe because of over hyoe on the MSM about politicians. tsaka ang pinoy marupok minsan. pag napadikit sa maimpluwensya tao nakakalimutan na pinaglalaban.

Did you know that the Sec. of the Department of Agriculture and Presidential spoleperson Lorelie Fajardo were friend of the aquinos and were in EDSA I respectively? Ngayon kanino sila nakadikit?

Also, you cannot forgive someone who dont ask forgiveness

  • darbs says:

    No Justice!

    No Reconciliation!

    No Justice!

    No Peace!

  • Mahalia says:

All the world’s a stage. Some people act better than others. A few people win the Oscars but nevertheless, everyone is an actor. Sigurado akong may mga echoes of bulungan from the spectators, from the parties involved.

    • bluepanjeet says:

You have a very good point there. Tulad nga ng sinabi ko sa taas, baka tatakbo ng national position si bongbong and he needs the sympathy of the people. ewan ko lang din. Pero it takes a lot of guts to do what they did yesterday.

I can’t wait for the time when Kris and noynoy would clash with Imee and Bongbong on the political arena.

Parang nakikita ko na Bongbong and Noynoy would suddenly emerge as rivals and also Kris and Imee.

Its strange how history and destiny play with the two families.

  • reynz says:

    Mahalia,

I have not changed my mind sa gagawin nya hahahaha! SHE SHOULD RESIGN IN FRONT OF CORY for her to win the respect of the nation. That’s what Cory wants.

    • bluepanjeet says:

Bwahaha dito ako natawa sa hirit mo na ito sa facebook kaya yung si Fandida nanggagalaiti sayo haha. Kilala mo ba yung fandida?

      • reynz says:

hindi ko kilala kung sino ang lukaret na yon. some people added me as friends and i will continue to clean my list because i have no clue who they are. siguro mga trojan horses hahaha

        • bluepanjeet says:

haha ako nirereject ko pag di ko naman kilala. mamaya makita pa nya pic ko dun na who bought who bad LOL

Tsaka i loathe those people who continue to play blind and deaf and deny what history has written and still writing as we speak…

I mean, yeah GMA is hardworking. given. Yeah imelda has created so many infrastructures and restored culture. given. But are these things more important than the rights of every people?

  • Chi says:

To what they did, i think. only God can forgive.

  • Mel says:

I totally agree. We must not forget what the Marcoses did to the people. Yun ang dahilan at pinaglaban ni Ninoy. But I know (hoping) the Aquinos kahit malambot ang puso are better than what they show us. They won’t make it easy for the Marcoses. Hopefully.

  • Rosa says:

Huwag naman sana. Ano ba yong passage sa bible na sinasabing: He went back to his vomit!!!

  • Monique says:

While there is no justice, there can never be peace – Avatar Kyoshi, Avatar the Last Air Bender.

That was one statement that I can never forget while I was following that series. I can somehow relate what the Fire Nation = Marcoses has done to all the other Nations (Water, Air, Earth), parang Pilipinas nung panahon ni Marcos.

I agree Bluep, Imelda had more than 23 years to apologize to Cory and to the nation as a whole. She had all the time to give back to the country what they’ve stolen. Until that happens forgiveness can’t be released.

But then again who are we to hold back forgiveness? Was just thinking.

    • bluepanjeet says:

Monique you have a point there (and a nice quote as I may add), but how can we forgive and give forgiveness if the culprit is not even apologetic nor repentant? parang ang hirap naman non lalo na at hindi lang naman personal level ang atraso nila kungdi massive scale of murder, corruption and plunder

  • Glo says:

hello bluep, ganda ng entry mo…I agree. ;)

on the other hand…it took a lot of GUTS for Imee and Bongbong to come down and go do the Manila Cathedral.

Besides, why would the children suffer because of their parents’ mistakes?! I think Imee and Bongbong are starting on the part of humility towards the Aquinos.

Kung merong di dapat patawarin ang mga Aquinos, eto ay si Imeldiffic ha hitad na parang may sariling mundo. Social climbing to the max sya at kung umasta these days eh kala mo first lady pa rin sya.

Imee and Bongbong may not have no idea in the past on the assasination plot of the Marcoses towards Ninoy. however papano kung hindi naman pala ang Marcoses ang nagpapatay kay Ninoy. it could be one of the Conjuangcos or another political or business families in order to put the Marcoses under a bad light forever? who knows the real truth? only God knows.

sa puntong maglala-laban pa rin ang new generation ng Marcoses at Aquinos…hindi impossible yan. iisa lang naman ang mundong ginagalawan nila eh. ;)

    • reynz says:

i agree that kids should not really be a part of the fight between their parents. obviously, both sides victims nang political rivalry by both families.

      ang tanong…

did the kids made acts that would make them part of what their parents had done – good or bad? o di ba?

let’s take a look at Bongbong. I remember, he was the one who filed some motion or sumtin sumtin in court about dun sa lupa in Ortigas. now, what was that all about?

i think we should all examine what the Marcos children has done.

para saken – NO reconciliation pa rin.

    • charmaine says:

      re: Glo

yes, but the marcos children are continuously exploiting their parents legacy – kahit ang dumi dumi na nga nito. bongbong and imee sought, and probably given the chance, will continue to seek office. kaninong pera palagay mo ginamit dito? dineklarang guilty sa tax-evasion pa si bong bong diba? why do they still seek power in the philippines to this day, etong dalang-dala na tayo sa gawa ng ama nila? sino ba nagtatago ng yaman na ninakaw ng magulang nila mula sa pilipinas? and how tyrannical bongbong must be for him to run un-opposed in ilocos norte?

      • Glo says:

charmaine, wala tayong magagawa. baluarte ng marcoses ang ilocos norte. people there believe na yung wax ni macoy na nasa marcos museum sa batac na bangkay talaga ni macoy yun.

imagine that?! parang verging on idolatry na sila kay macoy. anyways…nakita ko yung wax with my own two eyes. anybody can tell na wax yun. it is so obvious. di naman bobo ang mga tao ano. ang lakas pa ng aircon dun at merong background music.

ang tanog: sinong nagbabayad ng electric bills doon?? nagdudusa mga tao sa ilocos norte dahil sa kagagahan ni imelda na bigyan ng heroes burial ang asawa nya. hero ba yon?! excuse me.

anyways…as to imee and bongbong, i was just touched na nagpunta sila ng manila cathedral to pay their respects to cory. whether may vested interest sila o wala? di naman natin alam right. the act itself was just touching. naging humble silang dalawa kahit papano.

  • charmaine says:

    re: Monique

i think when it comes to matters of state and history, forgiveness = foolishness. i think this is a really naive statement for anyone who has studied history.

  • Silver says:

ITS AN UBER BIG NO FOR ME.

  • dFish says:

Very well-reasoned Bluep, and within the bounds of Christian responsibility for reparation and charity to forgive…

  • DJ k says:

i think its time!!! i think its the perfect time to let go of the past and move on!!!! ika nga keep moving forward!!! i think thats one thing na mali sating mga pinoy!!! we keep on holding on with the past na we no longer have the chance to hold on the future!!! its already been done… tapos na!!! we can no longer change that but what we can do is to mold what is about to come!!! i think that one step of letting go is the reconciliation between the two rival families!!! between the MARCOS and the AQUINO… whats wrong with that!! first of all it was there parents who had this fight not them!!! so i guess its up to them

    • bluepanjeet says:

      whats wrong with that!!

DJ K, read again the entire post. What you are asking is already in the post…. obviously you missed the point.

I suggest before you rant, understand first the context and the entirety of the entire post para hindi ka redundant.

  • Michelle says:

You all give too many conditions. Ninoy once said, “The country is far advanced in her times of trouble. Economic, social and political problems bedevil the Filipino. These problems may be surmounted if we are united.” Now is as good time as ever to bury the hatchet and unite for a common cause. If you are all going to insist on the wrongdoings of the Marcoses, remember that the Americans, Spaniards and Japanese have also been cruel to us and taken advantage of us in the past. We should then stop patronizing McDonald’s, Starbucks, Hollywood movies; stop patronizing Sony, anime, Toyota; stop having meriendas, celebrating fiestas, and being Catholics.

Marcos said, “There are many things we do not want about the world. Let us not mourn them. Let us change them.” Why can’t we have both change and unity in the Philippines? Why can’t the Aquinos and Marcoses reconcile? Now, I’m not saying I’m pro-Aquino or that they are better people than the Marcoses. Did you know Benigno Aquino, Sr. (Noynoy’s grandfather) was arrested and charged with treason? I’m just saying it would be a good thing to have these two families who have been feuding for ages to reconcile. The effect could be transformative.

We complain too much, but what have we done lately for the betterment of our country?

    • bluepanjeet says:

Your argument is off tangent, infantile and too shallow. Not worth my time. You are talking from a point of view of a cockroach… Go find some like minded imbeciles to answer your stupid opinion. The last thing I want is some stupid charlatan who wants to cry peace and unity yet doesnt even know the repercussions of history.

When will your likes be ever extinct.

Ikaw may nagawa ka ba sa bansa? Anak ng kapal mo magsalita eh anonymous ka nga. PWE!

      • Michelle says:

Sorry, but I don’t have a blog or a website I can point you to. I gave a valid email address, didn’t I? I know I haven’t done anything grand for the country, that’s why I said “we,” but I do my share however small. “Repercussions of history,” “lives lost,” “stolen from us,” exactly my point of mentioning the Americans, Japanese and Spaniards. What about other Philippine presidents after Marcos? Didn’t they steal from us too? Didn’t we also suffer the consequences from putting them in power? Why would you personally attack me if my opinion differs from yours? Anyway, I thought this site welcomes readers’ comments. Apparently, it doesn’t. Name-calling was uncalled for. It just goes to show we still have the offensive qualities we inherited from the countries that dominated us in the past.

    • reynz says:

was that michelle or was that imelda? hahaha!

i’d only approve (if allowed) any reconciliation with these two families if the marcoses returns what they stole from us and be made answerable to all desparecidos during their time.

many lives were lost, including some people i know in the barrio. reconcile? what about lives lost? what about those stolen from us? charge to experience?

      the motion is declined.

  • grungegirl says:

reading all your comments here, I am uncomfortable seeing bongbong and imee showing so much gall, staying in politics, showing up at tita cory’s wake. its just not right. its like the bestfriend or sister that sleeps with your husband. you can choose to forgive them, but it just doesnt sit right. i dont think the pain ever will (my parents were both in UP during martial law, when marcos teargassed the dorms, threw some of their friends in jail etc).

how sad that i actually know one of Macoys grandkids and each time i see her, i keep thinking, does anyone deserve to be punished for their forefathers sins?

    • reynz says:

no one truly deserves to be punished for their forefather’s sin but this is the reality of collateral damage.

it’s a sad reality for the grandkids really and true, marcoses grandkids who had no clue about what happened will be uncomfortable once they read the stories of what happened before.

but see – these are the things that their parents should have been careful about. and if they (the grandkids) ran into some difficulties with people – it’s not the people who are punishing them, its their grandparents who put them in this situation. they’re in a very tough situation.
