Quentin Tarantino’s Note to Brillante Mendoza

11 June 2009 26 Comments

Naitsismis na ni Pareng Kotsengkuba sa Barrio Siete ang pagka-panalo ni Ginoong Brillante Mendoza as Best Director of this year’s Cannes Film Festival held in France.

Quentin Tarantino Note

As a supplement, here is a transcription of the lovenote ;) :

Dear Mr. Mendoza,

Bravo on your difficult, troubling work. Your decission never to dramatize the murder, never indulge in movie suspense…, was bold, daring and to me, the whole point of making the movie in the first place. I felt it was completely a eyewitness account of a horrific murder. I believed everything I saw. Your point wasnt to dramatize it. It was to capture it.

Bravo,

Quentin Tarantino

    • Reesie says:

  • GabbyD says:

quentin sure loves violent movies! hindi ko nagustuhan ang mga recent films nya. the last ones i liked was pulp fiction and from dusk till dawn (horror).

  • reyna elena says:

I guess it’s really nice to hear that we have a new set of “Lino Brockas” and i hope Hollywood would take a second look at Filipino Film Directors insteas of always the Chinese and the Japanese.

    • Reesie says:

Right, hopefully this will open the international market’s eyes to Filipino movies.

My friend’s indie film that showcased the beauty of Bohol is almost done. Weee! I’ve seen the first 30 minutes of it and it was darn good! Maalaala mo talaga ang barriotic life mo with that movie. I promise to give you a copy, Reynz. :D

  • dfish says:

Parang sdinulat lang sa tissue paper…May slip dun sa clear copy: “account of a horrific murder”

    Aktwali, QT wrote horrofic, hehehe…

  • darbs says:

    QT – Horrofic?

    DFish, tell me about.

    PULP FICTION! KILL BILL!

No guarantee of a heavenly mind. What about work of a deranged mind and lucky enough to express it the HOLLYWOOD WAY.

They found a job that they don’t have to work.

  • dfish says:

“They found a job that they don’t have to work.”

    Hahaha, isa na namang palaisipan…
Wazzup with Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill?

  • reyna elena says:

“KINATAY” ni QT and tissue paper hehehe

  • Snow says:

I am so proud too of Brillante Mendoza kasi brilliant siya talaga.

  • an2nette says:

QT is a very good director, parang german ang handwriting niya, nataranta ako sa pagbabasa parang steno, malapit ang puso nya sa mga pinoy, at least he find time to praise BM

  • dencios says:

    basta noypi, THE BEST!

  • The Cat says:

I never like violent movies. I want fast-paced action movies though.

i heard that the movie kinatay will never pass the approval of the Board of Censors.

  • mel beckham says:

anyway, Kinatay will be shown in UP daw.

congrats kay direk. Salamat and Mabuhay ka!

  • lee says:

Violent reactions are welcome. Kiver kahit anong sabihin mo. But try to stay on topic and avoid personal attacks. Only privileged Barrio people & readers are allowed to swear.
