Rico Blanco Tweeted Gibo Teodoro: Claims Song “Posible” Used Without Permission
Popular singer/composer/musician Rico Blanco tweeted a surprising message to Gibo Teodoro last Tuesday (January 5) at 3:57 am:
I’d like to understand how can a presidentiable can overlook a simple matter such as intellectual property, commands responsibility.
At 4:08am, the former vocalist of Rivermaya also tweeted that:
I mean High School students know better! they approach the songwriter and not whoever else. common sense.
Then at 4:09am, Rico again tweeted:
When we did the tribute album i made it a pt 2 get composers nod even when publishers assured us they had rights. iba yun eh. RESPETO lang.
The bottom line here is that: Rico Blanco would like to know why administration bet Gilbert ‘Gibo’ Teodoro used the song ‘Posible’ in the political ads without his knowledge.
Hay naku, sa totoo lang….
Dapat kasi, yung Campaign Team ng Lakas-Kampi CMD should have thought about this issue long before.
Heller, maraming beses na kayang nangyayari ang mga kasong ganito?
Of course naman, intellectual property issues will surely emerge once an individual or a certain party used a ‘material’ without the owner’s permission. Wala namang libre sa panahong ito.

When I first saw the ‘tv ad’ of Gibo with ‘Posible’, I thought, ‘ang chaka naman ni Rico Blanco at pumayag na gamitin ang pagkagandang kanta para lang sa kampanya ng isang kulelat na kandidato’.
Well, well, well, looks like hindi pala nagpaalam ang lolo Gibo niyo.
Ang chaka ha!
Malamang wala ring alam si Gibo na hindi pala nagpaalam ang kung sino mang may pakana ng ‘tv ad’ niya.
Ipullout ang ‘tv ad’! Hahaha
now, that’s way too elementary for Gibo’s Campaign Team not to know considering na ang campaign line nila is “TALINO”.
so… “wer wer wee” as far as TALINO is concerned.
I feel sad for Rico. Mahirap mag-compose ng songs tapos ganito pa nangyari sa kanya. He deserves an apology.
and for sure ateng, ni hindi alam ni Gibo na si Rico Blanco pala ang may ari ng kantang iyon
posted this on my Facebook, and got this link as a reply with a screenshot of the license:

Seems like a communication gap between Rico and his publisher.
i think there’s a question there as to whether that Lizza represents Rico. that question was not answered. but i guess, since she signed the agreement, i would thought so, right?
here’s an update from Dennis Garcia with a screenshot of Liza Nakpil’s Certificate of Copyright Registration of Posible
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=244750944434&id=755712054&ref=nf
i don’t know how this “copyrighting” of music really works. tingin ko lang, dapat, ang mag-usap dito ay si liza at rico. seems like liza gave the license to dennis without consulting rico.
Here’s an update:
“This use of Posible is unauthorized. Rico Blanco is the composer and reserved all intellectual property right to it. He has not licensed the use of the composition to any political ad campaign,” the statement read.
Blanco also requested Teodoro’s camp to “cease and desist from any further broadcast of Posible… to avoid any legal action.”
According to Warner Music, Blanco “at this time has not endorsed any political candidate whether for president or any other elective position, and is not affiliated with any political party.”
Blanco’s services as a composer or performer have not also been retained by any national political campaign, according to Warner Music.
