Rosanna Roces and Her Nasty Remark About Teachers

I must admit: I am totally pissed off by Osang’s comment on teachers during the noontime show on ABS CBN: Showtime. During the show, she asked one contestant from Calamba, Laguna about Jose Rizal’s middle name: Protacio. Why he has the middle name Protacio while his mother, Dona Teodora is an Alonso? The contestant was not able to answer Osang’s question and then the controversial actress (that still thinks that she is still damn hot and famous but NOT!!), replied to the contestant that he should cuss (in Filipino, MURAHIN) the teacher for not teaching him why the hell Jose Rizal got a middle name Protacio instead of Alonso.
Whoa. And she did that in a noontime show.
She even went further, saying that teachers here in our country do not teach properly the students. In Filipino, the emphasis of her gist is: WALA NA DAW TINUTURONG MATINO ANG MGA TEACHERS.
Fuschia. ~bato ng eraser at whiteboard marker!~
Who the hell is she in saying that teachers here are not teaching properly?? THE QUESTION IS: SINO BA SIYA?!
O baka naman tulog siya sa GMRC at Values Education nung time na yun kaya di nya maipreno ang malaki nyang bibig from making a general comment about our teachers?? Honestly, di siya general comment - IT IS A FREAKING BIG INSULT TO OUR TEACHERS HERE NA NAGTRATRABAHO NA MAAYOS, MATURUAN LANG ANG MGA ANAK NYO.
Walang perpektong teacher. But using her ugly experiences from her former teachers as an excuse for making those nasty comments (she later apologized at the end of the show) is not sufficient enough.
Teka nga muna, may right ka ba talagang sabihin yun?!?
Even if she apologized, the comment still left a nasty and bitter after-taste.
At dahil dyan e may nagtext!!! HINDI PO KAYA RELIABLE EVER ANG WIKIPEDIA AS A RESOURCE!!! Litsi!
Here’s one lesson to learn for Osang: If you have nothing important to say, then SHUT UP!!
Gawd. I really feel like SHOUTING today. Hayz. Grrrr..
Here are the videos na nagpapakita ng pambabastos ni Osang sa mga teachers on national TV. Akala mo kung sinong mayordoma ng kaalaman. Walang utang na loob sa mga teachers! GRRRRRR…..

Sorry folks for my fiery post. TSEEEHHHHHH!!!!!!

I saw that episode and like you I was pissed. Akala mo kung sinong intellectual kung makapag-comment against teachers. Although she apologised, the damage has been done. Her claim that she was traumatized as a child is not enough and justification para mag-comment ng ganun.
Nakakairita. Good thing she was removed from the show kanina.
(konting lagok nan lang nang vodka na me kalamansi ok na me hehehe)
anyway… ba’t na-trauma?! na-zero ba nung elementary, high school kaya di nakapag-college?! hahaha!
Hahaha!
hahaha ganun ba yon? am sure there was a very good reason kung bakit dinuduro sya nang teacher nun. indi ako naniniwala na gorilla lahat nang teachers to do just that. ungkatin kaya ang history na yon at interviewhin lahat nung teachers nya para malaman kung sino ang liar hahaha
Reynz,
Try nga natin interviewhin. Tingnan natin kung sino ang liar at gorilla between Osang and supposedly teachers na nanutok ng cutter eklavu sa kanya.
Ayan ang problema nang masyadong nagmamaganda! Hmpt!
Mel,
Kiver ko sa kanya. Her remarks against teachers na walang tinuturo at mga material repeaters lang is highly uncalled for.
~lagok ng kape tainted with boardmarker ink~
napanuod ko rin to. and even i nagulat sa comment niya. so RUDE!
and kung totoo mang natrauma siya nung sabi niyang “muntik na matanggal yung virginity niya first time” eh di sana di nalang siya nag-aral! choserang froglet!
Referring to the above statement:
Well baka inoccent question lang?
Bakit? Dahil para Global? PWE! To be competitive ? Competitive what?! WORKER!
Ang kaalaman e walang kinikilang bansa or national identity.
Arch,
Pag malabo, kelangan ng salamin. LOL.
Chill lang.
@carlo barbo,
yeah, nakikita ko ang punto ni osang kaso ang katagang “SINO BA SYA” is a phrase wanting for some sort of authority and Osang happens to be not one to be authoritative enough to utter those words. the obvious mistake was the generalization. ganun lang naman ang mali dun. kelangan nya ba maging diplomat? gov’t official para magsalita nung ganun, PhD grad? not necessarily, ang kelangan lang naman eh batayan ba’t sya nagkaron nang ganung conclusion, di ba? yon ang punto nung “SINO BA SYA”. meaning, kung magbibitaw ka nang salitang ganun, aba dapat kumpleto ang postulates mo.
Educate me! Sino ba ang babaeng to?! Hahaha! I have no idea who she is! hahaha!
Reyna,
Siya yung boldstar nung 90s. As in sikat na bold star….yun lang.
Here is my research…
Rosanna Roces was a popular sexy star in the 90s along with Gretchen Baretto, Rita Avila and Cristina Gonzales. She was also involved in the Brunei issue. She was known in Philippine Showbizlandia as fierce.
Her only daughter Grace has a love child with Jolo Revilla (Senator Bong Revilla’s eldest son) and recently, Rosanna and Grace somewhat attacked Lovie Poe (FPJ’s daughter) due to Jolo.
Hmmm….
if you dig deeper, you’d unearth she was a common slutty bar girl way before she became sikat
San nga bang bar yun?!?! Pegasus ba yun?!?!
She rose from the ranks from being a GRO and became a successful actress but that doesn’t give her the right to demean people who also endured hardships and worked hard to get to where they are.

Eto: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20100108-246260/DepEd-acknowledges-shortfall-in-teachers-bonuses
Shortfall on bonuses daw.
All in all, its worth 4.6 million. ANO YUN?!?!?!
i saw the episode!!! buti na lang to the rescue si vice ganda! pero that remark ni rosanna was really very rude and uncalled for. my brother is a teacher, and i know very well he is a dignified teacher.
Right on sir.
Sa hirap na nakikita ko sa mga teachers – from preparing their materials for the class up to reviewing their students kapag may exams etc. Grabe. Not even that, they also perform the roles of being a mentor and a second parent to their students as well.
Foul talaga ang remark ni Osang. I applaud Vice Ganda for saying her own stand on that.
Osang acted on that episode like she’s intelligent! It’s way too obvious that she made up stories at the latter part of the show while apologizing as her way to get out of the pointless & uncalled remark.
Osang, you’re very dumb… & always trying to seek attention.
Kurak! What a lame excuse. We all know her reputation in making up stories sa showbiz noh!
well bilang teacher i understand her konti. but the show sana hindi na lang xa kinuha kasi ang attitude niya is really vulgar and straight to the point magsalita ung out of place na magsalita … but im sad for her.
Jopay,
I dont think she is straight to the point, she is way out of line in saying that. To say na murahin dapat ng contestant yung teacher nya for not teaching why Rizal has a Protacio middle name is really uncalled for.
Wala naman perpektong teacher. Meron talagang pasaway. But for the remaining majority of teachers working hard to teach our young generation, foul talaga ang ginawa nyang generalization. Bastos talaga.
[...] Getz ba yan? Ituro nyo ki Osang. Baka yan yung dinuro sya nung titser nya. [...]
Its a shame that Ms. Roces had to make such comments.
Yes, indeed, it is definitely SHOWTIME. She showed us her lack of values.
It was just in November 2009 when our kababayan Efren Penaflorida was recognized as CNN Hero of the Year for being a “teacher” in the streets, now we have a showbiz personality degrading our teachers.
We saw in SHOWTIME how a showbiz person can be “bobo” and stupid with such remarks. Perhaps she wouldn’t want the “madlang people” to generalize that all showbiz people are “bobo”..
Ditto. Sapul mo lahat Jonathan.
To all new commentators here, thanks for dropping by my post. Daan-daan lang kayo dito sa Barrio Siete.
that’s right. wikipedia is not really a reliable source. though malaking porsyento nito ang nagbibigay ng tamang impormsayon, still we cant fully rely to it. kasi ginawa lang din yan ng kung sinu-sino. kahit ako pede gumawa. though good thing nag-eedit sila so yung ibang ibfo eh kinocorrect nila. but for sure they cant fully edit everything to correct it.
to osang – WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM A GIRL LIKE HER.
Delta,
Grabe. Gusto kong ibato ang lahat ng books ko at whiteboard dyan sa babaitang yan dahil sa pagmention nyang repeater daw ang mga teacher at the WIKIPEDIA as her ultimate source!!! Litsi talaga oo!!!!
~tapon kape sa quizzes na chinechekan~
We can never expect an educated remark from someone like that person. My wife is a teacher and is a good one. The adjective p_t@ best suits her.
Hahah. Spot on Archon. Sakit pakinggan ang salitang binitawan nya, knowing that I, myself, belong to the same noble vocation that she lambasted during the show.
Thanks for dropping by my post.

i check the wikipedia and even in there, Protacio is part of the name of Jose Rizal, not the middle name. Instead of using Protasio as his name, he used it as his middle name para hindi talaga ma-trace ang root nya.
It is perfectly true that her rights ends to where others rights begins. But in a positive way of looking at it, it helps others to think twice what really the real value of education in the Philippines nowadays.
I must admit schools teaches students to study hard so that in the future, student can have a good promising work with a certain monthly pay. uhhmmnn… agree kaya kayo dito??? study hard then work hard…. hahayyyy.. school smart tends to land a good paying job… wow… ganda di ba?
But to be realistic, at this point in time, this generation we were blessed to experience…. applicable pa ba ang industrial age mentality? All I know information age na ngayon and all things were done electronically at keber, mabilis na ang communication…
I don’t think so… Schools stills teaches the new generations the old routine. Work for Money…. Kelan kaya baguhin ang sistema ng edukasyon and try to teach the new generations to learn how money will work for them.
Back to osang’c comment, not by defending her, me point siya in her own level. Di naman siya nakatapos sa pag-aaral or say di naman siya average student nung nag-aaral siya but still, she learn the best education that fits her. naging street smart siya beating a lot of college grads in her generation sa finances in her peak time.
Manny Pacquiao was a very good example na maipakita natin sa kabataan ngayon. Di naman nakatapos ng High School pero wag ka, magtrabaho man tayo ng ilang years – mga 40 yrs na kayod, di pa natin kayang kalahatiin ang kinita natin sa kinita niya in one fight niya ngayon, and he was too smart that he knows how his money work for him…. All I know, he learned his lesson very well sa realidad ng buhay. Street Smart vs. School Smart… sino ang wagi??? Sino ang me financial freedom at this point in time…
RAINBOW
In terms of street smart, I dont think Osang is a street SMART. Why? Well, given the fact na she cant learn how to shut her mouth properly or at least, be descent enough to think before speaking harsh words against teachers.
About the education system, the system itself may have its own loopholes but dont forget that there are people within the system that try their best to teach the students the new ways.
And another thing:
Knowledge-based na ang economy ngayon: the more you know, the more potential wealth that you may have.
Dont push all the blame to the teachers. Why? Education is not a one way process, it is a dynamic and multi-level one.
@sierra atienza:
korek ka din dyan. apir!
“street smart siya beating a lot of college grads in her generation sa finances in her peak time. ”
I DISAGREE.
SEX SELLS at walang smartness doon.
Now, is that street smartness? Pwede di ba based dun sa line of definition mo.
Hahha.
kaya pala wala siya nung Saturday.
Yeap. Kaya disappear na siya agad. Burado!
about Osang’s comment about teachers: Its very hurtful lalo na I am a teacher… Dont these people realize that magagaling ang mga teachers dito sa Pinas and this is one of the reasons why people from other country come here to study. Education here is cheap and yet I can attest that eventhough it is cheap, it is of quality standard nmn! You get your money’s worth.Pwede nga tau makipagsabayan sa ibang bansa sa kagalingan natin sa pagtuturo eh!
Isa lang masasabi ko –
Empty cans create tne loudest sound!!!
Kaya talaga ng mga pilipino, dahil we are blessed with talents and raw potentials that could make us richer, just like any country out there.
WIKIPEDIA: this is the reason why it is also called “the wicked-pedia.” All the information you’ll get form this site must be re-REVALIDATED. For Osang to comment that way was absolutely absurd and she must have gotten a “fix” before she came in to the studio. She was totally out of her mind!
As they say: ang lata pag maingay walang laman!!!!
Wikipedia is only a basic source of information,. There are a lot of books and sites there that are far more credible and resourceful than wikipedia.
AAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
magkape ka nga muna Chi. Hehhehe.

[...] Showtime suspended, Rosanna Roces a.ka. Osang Strikes Back! 12 January 2010 No Comment It all started with Rosanna Roces, better known as Osang, nasty remarks directed at teachers. [...]
Ipanalangin nating magbagong tunay.
Oh well, Osang has no intentions to change herself. Below the belt talaga yun.
BOW!
Never naman naging polite yang si Rosanna. Absent ata palagi sa GMRC at Christian Living classes nyan. LOL.
I have also been disappointed with some of my teachers when I was still studying but most of them truly brought out the best in me. In fact their desire to make a difference in others has rubbed off in me. Teachers, good or not, do not deserve Rosanna’s slanderous remarks.
I am a teacher now and I must say na hindi biro ang mga sakripisyo ng isang guro.
Kahit pa sabihin niyang prangka siya at may karapatan siyang sabihin ang gusto niya, THERE IS A THIN LINE BETWEEN BEING FRANK AND BEING RUDE AND IRRESPONSIBLE.
But lighten up fellow teachers, I know that like me you were offended, but let us take this in a positive light. Do not be overly emotional because it will only make us look like we are as stupid as what Rosanna said. Let us instead challenge ourselves to do better.
Heheh.
- the government asseses students several times before they graduate secondary level education so teachers should also be given tests. the results are likely to support roces’ assertion.
- we have to admit too that most of the better teachers are out of the country teaching, caregiving, nursing or some other job that pays better than in our country. in fact that phenomenon applies to practically all professions. too bad politicians get too much money here doing nothing in government otherwise they would be ‘overseas filipino politicians’
- our teachers are indeed sacrificing a lot and doing their best to do their job. but why do they sacrifice for such a noble profession and just how much can they give in terms of knowledge to the academic world.
- the best univerities of our country are not anywhere near the top university rankings in asia so that is an indication of how good our teachers are.
- i think h. clinton said in her visit here that the biggest export our country has is our people… well, when a foreigner tells us the bitter truth, we shut up. if a local gives us the same (albeit in a crude way) the filipino spirit rises to crucify it’s own.
Malaki nga ang potential ng pinoys but sadly with the poverty brainwash at mismanagement na ginagawa ng mga pulitiko, some of us fail to realize that we have the potentials.
May point si Clinton sa sinabi nya.
Osang, my mom is a public school teacher.
Anong meter stick?? Baka buntot ng pagi kako! Hahhaha.
well, what do we expect from a rosanna roses?
