Super Typhoon Choi-Wan

17 September 2009 19 Comments

There is a super typhoon looming around in the Pacific area, specifically in the Saipan and Guam area. The name is Choi-wan. Although right now, this typhoon is not a direct threat to the Philippines, it is still humongous in size. Nakakaloka as in sa laki.

Here is the picture of that typhoon coming from NASA:

You can view the picture here in full size.

For a radar image of the storm from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam (Typhoon Choi-wan), click here.

Here is another satellite imagery (microwave) of the typhoon. As of now, the typhoon’s strength is at 115 knots (135 mph). Category 4 na ang strength nya ngayon. Super typhoon status dito sa Pilipinas.

I remembered the previous super typhoons here in the Philippines, particularly Rosing and Milenyo. Oh well, I just hope this one will not land in our shores. O paano ba yan! Ihipan ang mga salbabida natin! Ihanda na ang mga bamboo rafts! Hahahha.

  • reynz says:

its scary as hell! like it’s going to wipe out those islands on the face of the earth! 5 is catasthropic!

  • Chi says:

tyak liparan nanaman ang bubong nyan! eeeeeeekkkkkkk!

I remembered yung neighbor namen dati, nung kasagsagan ng Typhoon Milenyo. We are fixing our alulod noon, together with my Dad (nagbust kasi yung alulod sa sobrang ulan), muntik na mapugutan ng lumilipad na yero yung neighbor naming yun.

Little did we know, meron na palang tornado sa may area namin, less than a kilometer away. It hit an industrial complex at yung mga bubong na galing dun sa complex na yun e parang tissue paper nung nilipad.

Fortunately, our neighbor was able to duck in time which spared his head from being decapitated.

    • silver says:

Hehehe. PWede Rob. Teka, asan yung remote control ko? Heheheh.

Baka siguro yung umayos ng image meant it in meteorological terms. Ibig sabihin nya siguro e malakas ang formation ng walls around the eye of the storm.

Waaaahhh!!!

    • silver says:

      Ely,

According to news e lihis daw ito sa Pinas. Tutumbukin nya yung area around Japan. Pipihit papuntang norte ang bagyong ito.

Thank God, Philippines is spared from this super typhoon.

  • Emmeline says:

scary! need to stock up food.. baka hit un guam.. its been 5 years ata na walang bagyo na malakas dito.

    • silver says:

      Emmeline,

        • Silver says:

Oo nga Emmeline. Nowhere to run kayo dyan sa Guam kung may typhoon or worst, even a tsunami ~knock on the wood~

Anyway, nice to know na safe na kayo dyan.
