Hello frenemies! How art thou? It’s been a very busy time for me this past few weeks attending parties and events (read: early campaigning) so please forgive me if I haven’t been in touch with you barriotics for quite a while.
Anyway, the year is about to end with a bang, literally, because of the impending Mount Mayon eruption but let’s just wish and pray that it’ll be a mild one and not catastrophic.
You know, the year 2009 has been very good for me because I’ve learned a lot especially in …

The truth about the Cory-Ampatuan link is that there is no truth. Contrary to what Belinda Olivares-Cunanan is peddling. Here’s a reaction from a reader:

To: Isagani Yambot, Publisher
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Dear Sir,
After reading Belinda Olivares-Cunanan’s 10 December 2009 “Political Tidbits” column in the PDI, I was very alarmed to see that Mrs. Cunanan stated as a “fact” that Former President Corazon C. Aquino appointed Andal Ampatuan Sr. as OIC of Maganoy in 1986.
As an avid reader of the PDI, I am disappointed to see such an irresponsible statement printed, whether or …

Receding hairline…….. bad hair always………….. not so eloquent speaker…… good looks lacking…… uninteresting personality…….. I am not describing the good senator. The similarity may be uncanny….. right on the dot, perhaps…… But really, my reason goes beyond his looks and his personality.
Noynoy Aquino is the only son of the late Ninoy and Cory Aquino. Currently a senator but with a little push, he might just seek higher office. During his mom’s wake, he …

Ki pulis, ki army, ki navy, ki ano pa man. Oras na you are a member of the military, automatic ang paghanga at pag-galang seyo nang mga tao. Yet make no mistake about sa aking pani-niwala, hindi lahat Perfecto ang mga pangalan nila hahaha! Of course, ilang beses din silang sumesemplang, but for the most part, mas malaki pa rin ang bahagi nang good part …

Nearing our 10-day mourning period in honor of Tita Cory, Barrio Siete Dot Com is very happy to have given full blog coverage to one historic event that just recently transpired, the passing of our one and only Tita Cory. It’s our small contribution in honor of President Cory Aquino and Senator Benigno Aquino. But that very small contribution, surprisingly, has given us, Barrio Siete Dot Com, an unexpectedly back-to-back media coverage beyond our expectations. Trulalang ningning ever and if you think about it, wala pa tayong 3 months …

Ely is a long-time reyna elena dot com reader and has been one big-time B7 supporter. I love this guy at wala akong pekealam kung ano ang political colors nya because ang aking loveliness has no set pre-conditions (bahala na kayo mag-define hahaha) at ako ang magiging fairy godmother sa kasal nya. But it got me curious kasi, even though 100% B7 fan, supporter achaka defender of truth, freedom and equal employment opportunity tong aking love na si Ely, somehow iniwan nya kami sa Touch a Blogger: Tie a Yellow …

Ganito kasi yung nangyari.

On Saturday (August 1, 2009)…it was almost time for wowowee when i saw commercials saying ‘Thank You President Cory”. That’s only when I found out that Cory was dead. I thought, wow! Willie was truly sensitive to have a 2-minute-silence for Cory. He was even wearing yellow polo shirt.
Well I’m not really a fan of Willie and of his show Wowowee. For one, he plays on people’s emotions and poor-ness. The more you are shameless enough to tell on national TV, the sorry and painful story your life is… the …

Eyeswear to OMFG! This is La Kapitana speaking sonata! I was very happy with GMA7 Live Streaming but they were out when Tita Cory was being transferred to Manila Cathedral. So, I swicthed to ANC na nakuha ko ang link dun sa website ni Tita Cory. I was even very happy because I saw this newscaster mentioning Barrio Siete in his news, I captured that moment and sent the pics to everyone in the Barrio. So, I was hooked right? And I was very happy with ANC’s service to Cory …

(Author’s Note: This is the post which I published a few hours ago on my blog as a reaction to the rumors that Bongbong and Imee Marcos’ presence at the wake of Cory Aquino may eventually lead to the reconciliation of the Aquinos and Marcoses. I thought of sharing with you guys here in the Barrio.)

And so sabi nga ni Ajay, Hindi State Funeral kundi People Power Funeral para kay Tita Cory. Read: Magdusa kayo Malacanang! Wez kayo invited! Hahaha! Dahil sabi nga ni Kris Aquino, the honors will not come from some Malacanang decree kundi sa mga taong nagmamahal ki Tita Cory. Pero saan nag-simula ang pag-ayaw nang Pamilya Aquino sa offer nang Malacanang of giving Cory a State Funeral?
Eto ang cheezmaks mga kabarrio!

This “global country” officially mourns for 10 days for the passing of a great leader and human being. In 10 days or more, I would sense more the outpouring of gratitude than the darkness of grief, of the lonely feeling of missing a friend more than human being’s tendency to deny death of a loved one. After all, we sensed it was forthcoming amidst prayers for healing miracles. Tita Cory died with dignity equal to how she lived her life with the dignity of a child of …

Only in the Philippines, mga kababayan.
It was like EDSA all over again.

I was too young  to have much of a recollection of the Marcos Regime. If not for his ouster in 1986, what they did will not be known to me. You see I was a Marshal Law baby. I was born in 1973. What I heard about Marcos in my younger years were not good anymore. Because by the time I was grown-up, people were already tired of his regime.
During the 1986 People Power Revolution, I was in first year high school.  We were all listening to …

Psst: All these pictures were taken by me, myself and I: Pusang Maganda. More pictures here: saying goodbye to cory aquino.

Alam nateng lahat na the Aquino Family refused a state funeral for Cory. Feel na naten yon. Relate tayong lahat dun. Former President Corazon ‘Cory’ Aquino was perhaps one of the most loved political personality of our generation today and it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. Listed below are the reasons why I feel a great loss with the death of our iconic leader:
Girl Power
Who would have thought that a housewife can overthrow a dictator? Cory Aquino, only armored with a sincere passion to continue Ninoy Aquino’s legacy did that for the Philippines. Her grace under pressure attitude during her term was also commendable as …

I woke up this morning, seeing my motherland mourning with the loss of her beloved daughter and a stoic icon of democracy – former president, Corazon C. Aquino. At the same time, my mother, who was a big fan of Ninoy and Cory Aquino, seemed to turned glassy-eyed with tears. Both the husband and wife became part of our lives, as they were to the nation back then.
When I was still living in the quiet village of San Lorenzo in Makati, my family was witness to the historic changes of …
