Where have all the leaders gone?!

Yes! Saan ba sila nagtatago? Which was swak sa sigaw ni Monique dito sa blog entry ni Angela Stuart. She said, “The Hunt for the next Philippine President is still on.

Back in my business school days, I was reminded of Lee Iacocca in his book entitled (don’t have the book with me at the moment), “Where have all the leaders gone?” In there, he said that: A LEADER SHOULD HAVE CHARISMA. It’s not really being flashy. Charisma is the quality that makes people want to follow you. It’s the ability to inspire. It’s being able to deliver that vision thing. It’s that power to encourage people. Why? People follow a leader because they TRUST him/her. Which means, if you are a leader and no one is following you, aba! Eh ikaw na yong palakad lakad, strolling in the dark sa Luneta Park for some very leisurely walk. No one is following you kundi mga kahol nang asong ulol.

I really have nothing against Gloribee. I think she should be credited for: [ fill in the blanks ] Hahaha!

And interestingly, aba! NBN/ZTE is again hugging the news! Can you imagine? Kahit na ano daw ang gawin mo sa [fill in the blanks] lalabas at lalabas ang mabahong amoy! Hahaha!

Honestly, you could hardly find any government leader out there who can articulate a plan for solving: [fill in the blanks] Hahaha!

What we do know is that, we have so many leaders out there na walang ginawa pag-hati-hatian ang pera at lupa nang bayan at kurakutin para ipamudmud sa kanilang mga: [fill in the blanks] Hahaha! Ayuf ang entry ko, puro fill in the blanks! Hahaha!

Anyway, leche! There’s just too many! The current flavor of the month was the current flavor many years ago! Spiralling lecheng quality of education, population exploded na!, personal income na ewan ko ba has not risen for all these centuries, farm to market roads deep in Talahib Highway na indi umabot sa Barrio Siete, infrastructure na up to now pantasya lang ang expressway from Manila to Matnog! Even the Bicol International Airport is also a fantasy, Haller?!, urban centers na walang dinivelop kundi Metro Manila lang at kalapit probinsya and I could go on and on!

When Arroyo’s public support ratings plunged to a record low, making her the most unpopular leader in the country since democracy was restored in 1986, dya’all remember kung anong ginawa nya nun? Namu-mud-mud po nang NFA rice sa mga squatters for some photo op para ibalandra sa mga newspapers hahaha!!! Think that’s how you push your popularity ratings to go up? NOT!

Back to Lee Iacocca. He said that a leader must have the following:

1.) CURIOSITY. The leader has to listen to people outside of the “Yes, madam” crowd in her inner circle. And the inability to listen? Is a form of ignorance.

2.) CHARACTER. That means, knowing the difference between right and wrong and having the guts to do the right thing.

3.) COURAGE. That means having balls! It means, taking a position even when you know it will cost you your votes.

4.) CONVICTION. Passion. You’ve got to really want to get something done. Hmmm… Like doing something to finally move steps to eradicate corruption and not be part of it?

5.) COMPETENT. Obvious, ain’t it? You’ve got to know what you’re doing!

And as we set sail, with our eyes focused on May 2010, who amongst all these Presidentiables ba ang tugma at swak na masasabi nating LIDER na pwede nating ipagmalaking mga Pinoy who’d stand for us, who’d stand for our values, who’d stand to effect the change we ask for, who’d truly lead the Philippines out of our misery? Sino?

For WORLD PEACE, may the future leader of the Philippines please stand up at wag magbalandra nang karatula sa kalsada and market some walang kwentang infomercials!

Looking for the Philippines’ next President can be compared to a jeweller’s goal when verifying for the value and integrity of a diamond. Medyo mahirap na nga talaga. Pero who knows Reynz, baka maka-discover na tayo bago mag-2010?

This time kasi, I like JAZA. Tapos, kapag ayaw ni JAZA si Noynoy alternative ko. Sila lang naman kasi napipisil kong qualified so far. :)

Tama ka miss snow! It’s like looking for a needle in the middle of a haystack. Ganun kahirap. We should all be very careful in choosing the next president. And with that list na nilagay ni Kapitana…. hmmm.. parang mas kumonti yung pwedeng pagpilian, teka, may natira pa ba?

  • BURAOT says:

up to now, wala pa akong nakikita… tsk tsk tsk.

  • Kokoy says:

paano tau magkakaroon ng right leaders sa maPili kung majority ng mga tao eh mali naman ang mga choices. If you are going to take a look at it most filipinos are poor uneducated and so so… buti kung pipiliin ang ang botante na qualified bomoto para maka-elect din tau ng president na mag-memeet ng expectations ng mga tao sa maPILI :D

    mabuhay ka la kapitana…

  • BertingLabia says:

we deserve what kind of leader we had… they were voted by us…

make it right this time around…

    PLEASE GO OUT AND VOTE!
