The 2010 SONA Fashion Parade

28 July 2010 12 Comments

President Noynoy Aquino’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) may be the most awaited moment of the Filipino people last July 26. But for the fashion aficionados out there, PNoy’s revelations in his SONA only comes a close second as the fashion statement is the topmost priority around the Philippines. Heller, magtatanong pa kayo eh, Oscar Season heto ng mga politicians natin noh? Remember!? ~LOL~

Anyway, below are the celebrities and politicians who gained a lot of attention due to their flair of fashion at PNoy’s first ever SONA. Photos courtesy of PEP, Inquirer, SPOT.PH, FIT TO POST and Facebook.

RED CARPET READY. Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez (Ormoc) is a sight to behold in her powdered blue terno designed by Randy Ortiz. Her husband, actor Richard Gomez added more sparkle to her regal beauty. Wow!

FIRST LADY OF BOXING. In earlier interviews, Jinkee Pacquiao (wife of Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquaio) revealed that she prepared 2 gowns just for the SONA. Iba talaga siguro kapag maraming budget sa wardrobe, sobra-sobrang magpatahi! ~LOL~ She settled for a baby pink terno designed by Pepsi Herrera in the end. I liked it pero medyo matamlay ang kulay for her.

FASHION FORWARD. Former Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel is a show stopper in her off-shoulder gown designed by Joel Acebuche. Hontiveros-Baraquel tapis-inspired gown was carried very well but, it created some mix reviews because a lot of fashionistas believed that it was more appropriate to wear in project runway than in Batasan hallway.

SIMPLE AND CHIC. Senator Pia Cayetano played safe by wearing a black and white terno. The simple and chic gown has a striking resemblance to her SONA gown in 2009.

IMELDIFIC ELEGANCE. Former First Lady and Congresswoman Imelda Romualdez Marcos exudes elegance in her simple plum terno designed by Rem Divino.

MODERN TERNO. Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos went to Batasang Pambasa wearing a deep pink terno over a trouser. The  gown was quite different compared to her mother’s simple but impeccable purple gown.

FREE GOWN. Assunta de Rossi’s gown (wife of Negros Occidental Representative Jules Ledesma) was reportedly designed and made by Avel Bacudio – free of charge! Kudos to Assunta for not spending a dime on this canary yellow terno!

BARO AT SAYA MIX AND MATCH. Senator Loren Legarda’s off-shoulder Baro at Saya gown was a far-cry from her 2009 SONA gown. The cut below the waist was not very flattering for the 2 time Vice Presidentiable candidate. Hindi tuloy nabigyan ng justice ang kanyang new sophisticated haircut. :(

And lastly…

ULTIMATE FASHION STATEMENT. I personally think that Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño made the ultimate fashion statement in the Batasang Pambansa wearing an original creation by Edgar San Diego. Casiño’s Barong Tagalog displayed a prominent airbrushed logo of the “Stop the Killings in the Philippines” campaign.  Grabe ha, who can beat that fashion statement??? hehehe….

At dito po nagtatapos ang aking SONA fashion review.

How about you B7 friends? Who do you think made a great fashion statement this SONA 2010?

We’ll be happy to know your thoughts. ;)

Cheers,
