The murder of Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez

14 June 2009 24 Comments

I have always believed that the Philippines, especially the Corazon Aquino Government, succumbed to European pressures to abolish the death penalty. I’m not talking as La Kapitana, but as a concerned Pinoy Citizen calling for the restoration of capital punishment for heinous crimes. And the more it becomes outrageous when you read headlines about the murder of Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez.

Who is Ruby Rose?

Ruby Rose, sister of actress and former beauty queen, Rochelle Barrameda, disappeared on March 14, 2007, after a bitter custody dispute with her estranged husband, Manuel Jimenez III, for their two children.

The news have it that Ruby Rose’s father-in-law, Manuel Jimenez II, and uncle-in-law, Lope Jimenez, who had been charged for the grisly murder, were dreaded by people who knew them. Residents of the coastal towns of Cavite, where carrying firearms was common, did not dare cross paths with the Jimenezes as they are feared, not respected.”

The murder of Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez, whose body was stuffed and cemented into a steel container and then thrown into the murky waters off Navotas, was so chilling even a seasoned police investigator found it hard to describe what happened who said “The crime was really horrifying. It’s indescribable and unthinkable,” said Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales, head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). He had heard of this method of killing during the dark period of the Marcos dictatorship, he said but this was the first time a woman was made to suffer such an unspeakable death.

gosh. inaabangan ko pa naman sa Tuesday sa QTV ang Reunion (tv show) episode ni Rochelle and Ruby. this is so sad.

  • The Cat says:

there was also a gruesome murder during cory’s time (not sure) The Elsa Santos Castillo chop chop story.

and back in the (60′s?), the Lucila Lalu story which was also chop chop.

These two cases were not about abuse but more on jealousy or relationships that had gone awry.

it is also suspected that this barrameda murder is linked to secrets that ruby knew about her alleged murderer.

And you think, you only read this in detective/suspense stories.

    baka isapelikula na naman ito.

As usual walang takot ang pinoy, kanya-kanya; no discipline, lawless. It’s jungle/war zone out there. As they say, shit happens in da phils.

Grabe! Parang Yakuza at Mafia style ano?

Pag pulubi ang tumira sa kapwa pulubi mostly based on what I’d seen sa aming baryo long time ago, talagang susurender na itong gumawa ng krimen.

hahaha! nakakatawa dahil for example ung pinutol nung ka-baryo ang ulo ng kapitbahay (na when it happened it was like slow motion, the other guy just have to move his head back. pero hindi. naghintay syang tatamaan… or why not just run! he chosed to die that day… i think…)

whaaaat?!!! even if he’s just an accessory to the crime, he should be punished too

    • Snow says:

I find it odd too ms. malensky. imagine, yung niyakap niya – yun ang pumatay at naglagay ng semento sa kanyang naghihingalong kapatid that fateful day.

      napa-what nga ako! :(

1980′s Father Favali, the italyan priest murder case.
    Reading if you may: http://www.fathernick.com/index_tulio.html

The story was horror! I was not sure. But of what I heard… kinain pa daw ng kriminal ang utak.

Matapang! Magaling! Marunong! INDI DUTLAN BALA TING-GA! me ara anting-anting… Oh no, sabi nila. sobra naman yan, HANDS-OFF LAHAT NA MGA SUPPORTERS – BIG TIME SUPPORTERS NG BAYAN – DYNASTIES OF THEIR AREAs AND TIME.

He used to be an asset now a liability.

They abandoned him. Together, he should go to prison.

He went to prison.

Nobody could vouch the “brain eater”… nabilanggo. There was justice for Father Tulio Favali, misyonaryo galing Italya.

    Justice served. thank you!

    Nabilangg-napreso at lumabas.

pinatawad sya sa lahat na involve. HE IS A FREEMAN!

Dahil ang hustisya ay meron ding kapatawaran after serving the time.

    Goodluck to him, too!

Kudos to his new life! Wow!

He served his time for murder. Now he is free! Kapatawaran… meron din tayo nyan.

Sus, ginoo KUNG Kriminal kang MARAMING RESOURCES…

kung mayaman ka na kriminal, you could get away FROM ALMOST EVERYTHING! And I asked why? HOW IN THE HELL they do that? We must learn from them and then expose the trick!

    EXPOSE THEIR MAGIC!

  • yami says:

Ano kaya ang nasa isip ni Ms. Ruby when she breathed her last?

  • darbs says:

Death Penalty is bad, really really bad in a Corrupt SOCIETY/Environment. The corrupt can now legalize killing especially POLITICAL KILLING and political descent.

  • dfish says:

One case of justice at a time.

  • lee says:

@dfish, ang hasang mo easy ka lang, e medyo mabigat yung kinakapitan nung pamilya e at muka talagang gawain nila yun

I am sorry – but I must comment on the atrocity of this case! Is there simply NO justince in the Philippines? When does a crime become so horrific, that money and family power no longer overcome the barbaric failure of decent humanity?

Mr NBI man….Mr DOJ man….How much does it cost to FIX the case of the murder of your daughters and sisters?

    Rest In Peace Ruby Rose!
