The Ugly Side of Blogging
This post is dedicated to the men, women and gays who are constantly attacking my other balay, Barrio Siete.
You inspire me to make this very timely tribute.
Within the next few days, I will be celebrating my 3rd anniversary since I created this humble blog and I thank you for your continued patronage. Without you my dear readers, I would be nothing and my colleagues in Barrio Siete especially La Kapitana wouldn’t have noticed me. I have learned a lot from blogging but the most important experiences I have had so far was when I joined the said collective blog. I have learned a lot. Blogging is fun, but just like life, there’s ups and downs. Laughter and sadness. Tears of joy and sorrow. The good thing though is that at the end of the day, there’s always lessons learned from these experiences.
When you tackle a certain issue especially the sensitive ones, expect feedbacks, both positive and negative and everything should be dealt and responded accordingly, in a civilised way of course.
Especially now that the elections are a few days from now, lumalabas ang tunay na kulay ng mga tao kung sino man ang kanilang napiling mamumuno sa ating bansa. Sa panahong ito nasusubok ang integrity, loyalty, morality and level of respect ng isang tao based from whatever choices he makes.
Barrio Siete is composed of unique writers, both regular and contributing. Like you, hindi rin pare-pareho ang stand and choices kung sino ang mas angkop na maging pangulo. Despite the diversity, we are still able to get along and communicate, support and respect each others choices.
Many of you are unaware that a few personalities in the blogosphere have been throwing insults, making up stories and personally attacking several writers and Barrio Siete in general. Not just because of the choices we make but for the very simple reason: hatred.
That’s what they do best. Instead of giving a decent answer and a healthy rebuttal, they attack not just your statement and choices but also your sexual preference, educational attainment, gender, race and family. Irrelevant issues in general.
I’m just wondering that with all these attacks, they never really take on real men. Bakit? Yun lang ba ang kaya nilang awayin? Takot ba silang masuntok? Baka mag-smear ang make-up? According to my soul sister sa pananampalataya, this is the behaviour of a person with a lot of personal issues that he has not yet fully accepted. Yun bang tipong may tinatago at gustong i-express but cannot that’s why they take their miseries on other people. Perhaps consider getting out of the closet? Maybe not.
Or is it drugs? I know some are former (or baka hanggang ngayon pa rin) drug dependents. Commenting on their own blog posts using a different name, kunwari may nagko-comment talaga. So funny and pathetic.
What about childhood trauma. They’ve been bullied as a kid that’s why they did their best in school and now that they’re well-equipped ‘intellectuals’ they use this to fire the ‘helpless’ ones. Puede?
But what’s with the name calling? Parang larong bata lang at 50? Yes, mga matatanda na kayo, I know. Kung kelan pa tumanda saka pa naging pasaway. Some even called former Pres. Cory Aquino a slut, (or was it bitch?) No person in the right mind would say that to a very well respected President. She may not be perfect but that doesn’t give you the right to call her that. Alalahanin niyo, babae din ang nanay niyo and I’m certain that there are a lot of women in your family. What if I call your mother that, would that make you smile? Because if I had the chance, I might say that but I know better. Which brings me to my final ‘theory’ why the hatred.
I’d call her ‘mother of an ugly child with a small wiener’.

Mel is is the ‘gurl’ behind “The Misadventures of Mel Beckham”. ‘She’ graduated with a double major in Management and Entrepreneurship. ‘She’ grew up in the city but now lives in the bukid near barrio siete juggling work as a farm manager, office secretary, messenger, construction worker, housemaid, make-up artist and babysitter. Despite ‘her’ busy schedule, ‘she’ finds the time to blog in between work, and errands using ‘her’ primitive mobile phone. ‘She’ plans to take ‘her’ MBA soon but ‘her’ multiple jobs prevent ‘her’ from doing so unless going to school will get ‘her’ paid to pay for ‘her’ utangs.
Before ‘she’ dies, ‘she’ hopes of owning a pair of Louboutins, and landing on the cover of Vogue, kahit sa Vogue India lang. Whichever comes first.

Uy, relate na relate ako dito, hehehehe:
“When you tackle a certain issue especially the sensitive ones, expect feedbacks, both positive and negative and everything should be dealt and responded accordingly, in a civilised way of course.”
Oist Mel, nice post.
Sinetch ang 50 years old wangler na itetch?
relate na relate ako dito. i remember this entry:
http://barriosiete.com/tj-besas-mis-information-campaign-against-noynoy-aquino/
I challenged the article he wrote at meron pa akong presentation. Nagalet ang author – si TJ BESA – and part nang response nya to me was this:
“If I win, and I will, please close down this useless site as well. It serves no purpose to attack someone personally, as you have to my good person. If anyone is bold enough to do this again, I suggest that you arrange an appointment to see me so we may discuss your issues…”
Oh and by the way, binalik balikan nya ang useless site na to. As in galet na galet sa analintek review nang lola mo. :0)
HAHAHAHAHA, drop ng 1% with a margin of error na +/-3, ROFL! Tawa ako ng tawa sa response. Parang pang kanto~.
Proper Argumentation101: Attack the issues and claims, not the person.
hay naku! i stuck to the discussions no! sya tong nag-threat na ipapa-dis-appear nya ang barrio siete hahaha kaya tuloy pag naglolko ang site na to, naiisip ko, pinapalakol na ni TJ Besa hahaha pikon na pikon sya sa analysis ko hahaha
i even asked him twice ata na indi nya sinagot ang kwestyon ko, instead, sabi ang susunod daw na result nang survey alam nya bagsak si noynoy.
Kutz, korek. Okay lang naman and accepted ang feedbacks. Yun nga lang yung iba kung ayaw nila sayo kinakalkal ang personal mong buhay or nilalait ka which is totally irrelevant sa issues. So kacheapan talaga.
Isang araw……
Me: I’m sorry po, your son failed my class this semester. He just refuses to turn in any work and is too disruptive in class! We have talked about it many times sa mga conferences di ba?.
Sagot: Ma’am ipasa nyo naman na, it’s too embarrasing if he gets kicked out from here eh. You know kasi when my son was little, he got sick and the doctor made this injection to his head. I think that’s the reason he failed the subject.
Ate Reynz, salamat sa pag-pick up. Hehe

Aba at ang Barrio pa ngayon ang kontrabida? Hahaha
LOL
Isa lang masasabi ko: You reap what you sow.
That’s all.
AY! AY! ano yang pinag-uusapan nyo? Sino? Ba’t naging kontrabida ang barrio?! Update pleassse!
Mel, do you mean this: http://www.gmanews.tv/story/63181/The-Daily-Show-segment-labels-Cory-Aquino-slut
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart which called Cory Aquino a slut?
Gibs: no, ibang tao from the blogosphere.
Pero Jon Stewart said that? I vaguely remember but I googled it. Thanks.
Although The Daily Show is satire ang dating, medyo nakaka-hurt pa rin yung sinabi and Filipinos are not used to that kind of ‘jokes’.
@an2nette – very well said gurl! people here have mutual respect and this makes our blog different from the rest. we can tackle news and give opinions pero hindi tayo nag-aaway-away rito.
Hindi ba sila naawa? Sa mga sarili nila? hahaha….
If they find this site useless eh bakit balik pa sila ng balik para basahin? Moreso, papansin pa rin sila ng papansin… (inser Eklat laughter here)
