This coming 2010 election, don’t bring “chad”. Learn how to vote!
Remember the Great Presidential fiasco in Florida when Al Gore became the President of the United States? Wait… George Bush became the President of the United States? Wait… when Al Gore – aw shucks! Blame it on the “CHAD” and the birth of the chad-watchers! If America could have one of the most ridiculous fiascos of all, with the looming power crisis on the horizon, who knows what’s going to happen during election, right? Worse, you might even have zero knowledge on how to vote.
There is no practice test in this election. There will be no such thing as “pwede na yan”. Machines are machines. They read in precise shades. Walang lagpas, walang kulang and please – no smiley face.
Set aside all the rhetoric, the greens, the yellows, the reds, the orange, do I see another orange? Nah, I think I see another yellow.
Forget all these political mudslinging, name-calling even the fact that Noynoy Aquino leads the pack. Truth is, be reminded of what happened in Florida with the infamous “chad” for unless you know how to vote, everything that you were fighting for will go to waste.
Fact of the matter is, 6 out of 10 Filipinos are clueless about the automated election system for the 2010 polls.
“If the Comelec can’t even conduct an effective information campaign on the system, what more a full automation of the elections?” asked Escudero, who is the co-chair of the congressional oversight committee on poll automation.
He said the Comelec should now give a full update on the progress of the implementation of full automation of the 2010 polls.
“Except for the occasional press release and sound bite, we have not heard the Comelec provide a complete picture of where we are now insofar as this historic undertaking is concerned,” the 40-year old lawmaker said.
