Weird Weather in the Philippines

17 June 2009 41 Comments

I dunno if these things are indeed caused by the changes in our climate but surely, these so-called weird weather had been in the news lately. It is indeed weird to see twisters, water spouts, tornadoes – heck whatever you call them – with alarming frequency. Baka dust devils na lang ang kulang sa listahan na ito. :P

Anyhoot, I noticed their frequency in the news. Whenever there is a strong storm or a nasty ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone), these twisters et.al are there. Take note of the cases of twisters in UP Diliman, Los Banos in Laguna and heck, the recent ones in Sariaya, Quezon where 2 towns suffered damage.

I can’t imagine for myself that these weird wind (weather) phenomenon are happening in the Philippines. I thought they are exclusive in the wide plains of the United States. But no Virginia, twisters and other weird wind (weather) phenomenon are now here in the Philippines.

Here is a youtube clip of the August twister sa Los Banos, Laguna. I heard na there were visible multiple twisters during that time. And surprisingly, malapit pa sa Mt. Makiling ~kamot ulo~

I cant imagine this weird weather sa Pilipinas. Eto na kaya ang sinasabing climate change? Sa palagay nyo?
