You see, one of the biggest mistakes I made just recently, in fact, they even dethroned me as Miss Philippines, was not minding the little things that matters the most about joining the Miss Philippines beauty pageant.
(i swear to god! the crowd will roar!)
You see Mr. Baldwin, I am an illegitimate child and in the Philippines, we are being frowned upon.
(Believe me, this will win you the American crowd! The whole complex might even collapse by the thunderous laughter and roars! They love this stuff, you know… being discriminated!)
So, I thought everything about me was in order – my birth certificate and everything that’s written in there. It never occurred to me that it will become such a huge issue. And that was my mistake, ignoring the little things that matters the most to this pageant, to the point of putting a lot of stress to my family.
But you know, we all make mistakes and I have my own share.We learn from it and hope we grow to be strong. And that’s what I did. I fought for what’s right for me and with the support of the Filipino people, I was lucky to be here to respond to your question. Otherwise, I would have not seen the Las Vegas light and I would not be talking to you.
I’m not perfect and I will still make mistakes, but the most that I can promise is be extra careful next time. If not, I’ll hire a battalion of advisers to help me out. I might even consider you as one of my advisers, Mr. Baldwin.
(Trust me! Baldwin will drool!)

The final Miss Universe question was not designed to be “What is 1 + 1?”. It was supposed to be difficult to see if the contestant can deliver an intelligent and/or a smart response.
The question posed to Venus was not a difficult one. In fact, it was very easy. Why? Because Venus life alone is littered with so many things that she can throw as an answer to the question. If she only took her time to respond and think.
The truth is that Venus is all beauty and no brains. That’s the darn hard truth. You can cry about it but Venus is not a very smart or intelligent person.

venus won the bb pilipinas on her own merits.. di naman siguro no brains.. if she lost the chance to take the crack at the ms universe crown due to her major major mistake in answering the question, let it be.. as fate would have it, her ordeal is quite admirable enough.. and the fact that she got somewhere in the top of the heap is more than enough IMO..
she is beautiful – no doubt about it. in fact, the crown was just waiting for her. the world knows that she WAS the Miss Universe. the event/pageant was just a formality. however, she has to pass that one final test. the major major test. you see, this is not just being handed down like the way they do at … wag na lang.

let’s set aside how beautiful she was because she really is the most beautiful of all.
when you join a miss universe, it’s a given that 99% of the time, the winner is judged on the final question. therefore, a smart-intelligent-brainy contestant would have already known right there, that she should prepare for the worst question ever, to not succumbed to the pressure, listen and dissect the question as fast as she can.
the truth of the matter is, Venus made a major major mistake and 99% of the Filipinos refuse to accept that fact – instead – come up with so many alibis.
you can never change what happened. no matter how you beautify the mistake, it was a major major disaster. and it was a disaster because that was not a smart person standing there. i know you will not like what i said.

I dont think naman naminusan sya sa score dahil sa “major major” nya. Kinonsider naman siguro ng judges na hindi perfect ang english nya kasi hindi naman english ang first language natin. ang importante naiintindihan ang gusto mong iparating.
Kaso, naminusan sya sa mismong thought ng sagot nya. Ang pagkakaintindi ko sa tanong eh among sa mga mistake nya, alin yung pinakaworst. So kahit light yun mga mistake nya diba dapat may kahit isang medyo lumebel up na medyo worst dun? Hindi naman tinanong kung may nagawa na ba syang super ever worst mistake para sabihin nyang wala. yun tipong mistake such as kasalanan talaga like pagpatay ng tao. yun yung pagkakaintindi ko sa tanong eh. at ang sagot nya wala syang major major mistake. that said may mga nagawa sya hindi nga lang major. That means hindi nya naintindihan ang tanong. Kasi ang tanong eh among sa mga nagawa nyang kahit na hindi major na mistake alin dun ang sa tingin nya ay worst na kung ilelevel nya lahat yun but not necessary a big mistake.
Per iniweiz, nanyare na. opinion ko lang toh. I respect others opinion. pero kahit ganun pa man, im still happy na naksama sya sa top 5. yun lang may konting panghihinayang na sana mas malayo pa dun ang narating nya. keribels lang.

at hindi ako magpapabayad basta ba pag oras na tinanong – they should take their time, devise a strategy to buy time – while buying time craft a response at wag na minamadali. can you imagine, after all the troubles of going to Miss Universe basta lang ora-oradang sasagutin? i know timed question yon pero they should have known already how to react and respond. then again – if you’re not smart or intelligent – then your thinking process is very limited.

Ang dami dami ninyong sinasabi about Venus and the way she answered the question, the fact is kung kayo ang nasa posisyon niya ( which I doubt it won’t happen because most of us are lacking in the physical looks department)hindi rin natin masasagot ng maayos ang tanong. Nasasagot lamang natin ng maayos ngayon dahil alam na agad natin ang tanong kaya maybe hindi natin dapat siyang tawaging all beauty but no brains, at least mabuti na rin iyon kaysa wala ng beauty wala pang brains at wala pang katwiran.Gets nyo?
well pag walang beauty, i doubt kung makakarating sa Miss U finals. kaya nga there is the difficult final question to separate the who’s got it from she ain’t got it.
but the bottom line, Venus is not perfect, her life is littered with so many imperfections that she can throw as a response.

And here is someone na nakaabot ng top 5, marami ka pa ring sinasabi.But I think you will agree that what Venus achieved is better than most of our “Thank You Girls”.

I’m a fan of Venus but I get Reynz’ point that there could be a better answer. Masyado niya kasing minadali ang pagsagot eh. Hindi matatakpan yung fact na yun.
Tama ka dorcas, acceptance that she did not the answer the question as expected hurted her chance to get that crown.

Some says that this is a simple question my answer is…yes and no.
Mistake is not something on top of our head that we’re ready to brag anytime.
Most of our mistakes are kept secret compared to our accomplishments.
Nevertheless, I have to agree that there are circumstances in our lives but (nevertheless again, super redundant).
There are people who has positive outlook in life and consider every circumstances as a challenge and mistake is simply their mentor.
I don’t know about you but I find her answer, just right. Ba’t mo nga naman ipaalam sa buong mundo ang pinakamalaking pagkakamali mo sa buhay?
